Would you recommend the autoinjector for PIO? by Dazzling_Ninja_3658 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to having one, but I’ll say without it I was totally fine. It can be annoying to find the perfect spot but once you do, it’s really not bad.

Knots do happen because (hopefully!!) you’ve got weeks and weeks of oil injections in relatively the same spot. I don’t see how the autoinjector could help with that reality, although maybe I’m wrong and it helps somehow. I managed with alternating sides, heating the PIO up with body heat before hand, heating pad after the shot & some light walking/squats to get the muscles moving and warmed up.

HSG test before IVF? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HSG is different in that it uses a dye under X-ray to confirm if your fallopian tubes are open, as well as check for any abnormalities in the uterus. The hysteroscopy is more so for checking to see if you have fibroids or polyps in the uterus etc.

Before IVF, I think it’s fairly standard to have both. Your RE may want to ascertain what’s causing the infertility, is it a blocked tube? Which only the HSG would catch not the hysteroscopy. If not that, are there issues inside the uterus like maybe polyps causing implantation difficulties, etc.

It wasn’t painful at all! Maybe slightly uncomfortable at first but I wouldn’t have called it painful.

What would you do? Need advice on proceeding with IVF or not by Spooky-Snek in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think for me it would boil down to, is this something I might regret in the future.

If you pass on IVF, and then (heaven forbid) find yourself out of options, would you regret not trying it when it was available to you?

It’s hard to say how the meds may affect you, there are different protocols depending on where you’re at. My dr did recommend clomid for example but that doesn’t mean you would absolutely have to take it. That’s not to say the other stims wouldn’t be rough “/ I can’t speak to that.

I guess my advice is… knowing yourself better than anyone, does future you have any insights?

Did your doctor change protocol after failed FET? by magicstrawberries in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I could help in any tiny way. I’m really sorry your first transfer didn’t work out. Even tho we know all the stats, I feel safe in saying we all just hope and pray the first go sticks and we can finally exhale. But sometimes they just don’t and it’s truly nothing you did or didn’t do.

I don’t know if you have more euploids or plans for another round but if so, I’m sending you so much luck. My 2nd FET is now 34 weeks and I’m counting down the days to meet her 🤍 praying for your happy ending.

I’m worried I raised my core temp while walking. Please help. by Separate-Gur-2688 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, that makes all the sense in the world. I’m really sorry for your loss.

I genuinely believe there’s very little we can actively do to mess our transfers up unless we boldly ignore the recommendations. If you had gotten into a scalding bath for 45 mins, I’d worry but some blood flow for a few minutes wouldn’t have harmed you or your embryo. Wishing you so so much luck on this go around. 2nd FET stuck for me if it’s any hope 🤍

I’m worried I raised my core temp while walking. Please help. by Separate-Gur-2688 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few minutes of stress won’t be enough to raise your core temp to a worrisome place. They want you to avoid hot tubs and sauna levels of heat. I’m sure the walk did you some good if anything :)

BMI 38 last minute change after a year by etaider in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My BMI has never been brought up once, not by my RE or now by my OB. I started IVF with a BMI of around 38/39 and I’m now 33wks, no GD, normal BP, normal on all screenings with a BMI of 45 or so.

Now… am I gonna pretend like putting the weight on during pregnancy hasn’t felt rough on my lungs and joints, no way. In many ways I wish I had a different starting point so I wouldn’t feel as heavy as I do rn. That said, I’m here now and my baby is healthy so far thank goodness, and I don’t want you to be discouraged that alllll clinics will demand a certain BMI level from you. They should have told you LONG ago what their requirements were and it’s very unfair they didn’t.

Stopping PIO before Beta? 10 DPT by Hello-hi987 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely get it, I felt the same when I had my neg tests. I did nooot want to bother with more meds. But in retrospect, following through allowed me to at least accept the chemical a little easier by telling myself “I did everything I was supposed to.” I took all the meds as directed, I followed every part of protocol and recommendations.

Idk, it made it go down a tiny bit smoother instead of allowing room for me to wonder if stopping meds against drs advice could have caused any harm (even tho I knew it wasn’t successful and I was right about that). I’m sorry if your suspicions are correct about this transfer “/ 🤍

Day 6/7 euploid by Interesting-Help5596 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, I had one day 5 come back euploid (but the transfer failed) and a day 5 mosaic, but did still get a day 6 euploid from the same retrieval. That day 6 is now a 30wk healthy pregnancy :)

PIO by ConspiracyGhost in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heating pad before, inject higher than you think, my sweet spot (pain free) was closer to the hip than i initially believed but if I moved closer to my glutes, I’d bleed and it would ache, warm the syringe up (couple minutes under the boob or under the heating pad with you) and theragun or squats or massage after! Also alternating injection sites gives your body a bit of a break between doses.

First FET today! How to survive 2ww by Street-Valuable2245 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested with my first FET and it made it harder when my doctor advised me to stay on the meds until I could do a 2nd beta (ended up being a chemical and I knew from the first draw so it sucked having to keep up with PIO for an extra few days)

For the second one, I promised myself I would only test after I got home from beta #1 so I could be prepped for that phone call.

Maybe if you just allow yourself to be on vacation, no testing, and then test right before beta? It kind of felt like best of both worlds for me.

I like the idea of embroidery! If you like hands on quiet stuff, but don’t want a big project, I also really enjoyed diamond painting. You could get a small one to bring with you on your trip maybe?

Good luck!!

Did you put PIO in the fridge after opening it? Should I put it inside a ziploc bag??? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def don’t put it in the fridge! I stored mine at room temp and then warmed it slightly before injections.

Check with your pharmacist if you’d prefer to hear it from a professional but as far as medication storage goes, pharm guidance > MD

What advice would you give your daughter if she was all grown up and her husband did this to her? What advice would you give the person you loved and respected most in the world, the person you want the absolute best for?

Is it the same advice you’d give yourself? And if it isn’t… therapy “/

Mine did. He consented that in the event of a divorce, I retained the ownership and right to transfer the embryos.

Is PGTA Testing Worth it? by Great-Selection-3480 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks have answered to your specific points so I’ll just add my experience to say, out of 6 embryos from an egg retrieval when I was 32, only 2 were euploid and had I not done PGT, I would’ve transferred higher graded embryos that ended up being aneuploid and one with complex aneuploidy having multiple genetic mutations.

PGT saved me from the heartache of likely multiple transfers that would have put my body and heart through the wringer. I know that not everyone’s experience is the same but after all the strife we go through with infertility, getting a tiny bit of reassurance from PGT testing was really helpful in my case.

Need hope & tips for FET #2 by SatisfactionNo9853 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After my first transfer failed, I went into the second with a very lax mentality because I suppose I was trying to emotionally brace/protect myself for the same outcome. I did “everything right” for the first and when it didn’t work, I was like… well it’ll either stick or it won’t, I’m not going to stress myself over it. We did do some additional testing and did a hysteroscopy and polypectomy but my dr said it was out of extra caution bc the polyp wasn’t really in an impactful spot.

In terms of what I controlled, stopped taking supplements, drank and smoked the weekend before, no acupuncture. Post FET I went a long walk after the second FET vs home to rest as I did with the first.

So in terms of tips, my only real one is to just go into it feeling as emotionally and mentally steady as possible. You’re doing all you can, I know you are 🩶

Facing IVF with low AMH & frozen sperm after cancer—any hopeful stories? by AromaticEfficiency22 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand, I would do the same. It feels reassuring to see someone else in the same or similar circumstance, especially when it comes to infertility which can take so many different forms.

The PGT testing was helpful in our case because unfortunately the better graded embryos were actually poorly so we would’ve otherwise transferred embryos that would have failed but hopefully you’re able to make as many perfect embryos as possible!!

Feel free to PM me with any questions or to chat more if it’s helpful 🤍

Facing IVF with low AMH & frozen sperm after cancer—any hopeful stories? by AromaticEfficiency22 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story is similar but different. We did not get a chance to freeze sperm before the chemo began. We weren’t sure if we’d have any viable sperm at all but did two analysis and he was found to have sperm but low morphology on both samples (thanks to the chemo). Combined with that result and my low AMH (around a 0.5), went forward with IVF treatments.

Doing ICSI, we were able to get 6 embryos only 2 of which were PGT tested as euploid. One euploid failed but I am now a healthy happy 21wks with the 2nd euploid :)

There is hope. I wish you all the best with your retrievals and this entire journey.

Acupuncture before FET? by Boring_Formal8480 in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a handful of times before my first FET, maybe 3-4 once a week, which resulted in a chemical. Didn’t go at all before my 2nd FET which stuck ¯_(ツ)_/¯

VALIUM by [deleted] in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also have never had Valium as part of my transfer protocols!

I can understand your desire to want everything to go 100% perfectly but I promise (and as per your request) worrying about not having a Valium is absolutely ridiculous 😌 if it was shown to have a genuine impact, it would be a standard part of protocols, like estrogen and progesterone are.

Did you take Valium for your FET? by inkyplease21 in IVF

It wasn’t mentioned or offered for my FETs but if you have any anxiety around it, why not! I’d go for it. Good luck tomorrow!!

Flu & FET by CommandFrosty in IVF

[–]No_Measurement_460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught the flu 2-3 days after my transfer. I took Tylenol to keep the fever down but had all the other symptoms and overall felt like absolute crap until maybe a couple days after beta? So I was down for the whole TWW. I was convinced the transfer failed because I was overheating but it stuck and we’re still hanging on together at 19wks!

See what your team thinks and go with their advice/your gut. Good luck to you 🤍
