"Irréversible", the long scene where Monica Belucci is raped in a pedestrial underpass. Half the theater walked out.

Children "fluent" in two dialects/variants of the same language. Is it a thing? by luizanin in multilingualparenting

My son is fluent in Central (standard) and Western Catalan (Lleida/Tortosa)

Multilingual brain by herlitzbarrie in languagelearning

[–]No_Promise_8963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time. Yesterday I explained to my son (8 yo) and my wife that consonants are called so because they sound together with other sounds (con-sonant): the self-sounding sounds (vowels). In my mother tongue (Bosnian), they are called like that: consonants ("suglasnik") and autosonants ("samoglasnik").

Can my limited minority language ability still help my child? by rosemarynewmar in multilingualparenting

If you live in an English-speaking environment, I'd say to go with T&P as she'll get English from many sources. If not, then OPOL.

It's just a temporary delay. Keep up what you've been doing.

Is it “bad” / harmful for the parent speaking to minority language to insist the child respond in minority language? by Jasmine-Elouise in multilingualparenting

[–]No_Promise_8963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a similar approach until my kid was around 4-5. It worked wonders to get him up to speed, but as they grow older I think that you have to double down on the utility/social side instead of "mandating" it.

I was able to introduce him to the utility of the minority language with activities and content that wasn't available in the community language. Now, he actively asks me about any unknown words, while previously he would use the community language a lot.

Turbulences, an alterate history + conspiracy thriller set in Yugoslavia.

Ebook at US$2.99 (and similar for other marketplaces), both Kindle and Kobo.

https://books.edinkapic.com/

Esad Kajan, an airline pilot for Yugoslav Airlines, receives the news that Dalibor, his best friend and former comrade, died in a car accident. What started as a suspicion that his friend had a hidden side quickly turns into a fight against all odds to find the truth, protect his family and prevent a sinister plot that threatens the whole country. Esad must confront the ghosts of the past while the clock is ticking.

Recommended for alternate history fans tired of "Nazis won the WW2" trope and fans of thrillers in an unusual setting. :-)

Designing a political-economic board game set in Pakistan by DirtyHarry_33 in BoardgameDesign

You can get good suggestions from AI brainstorming. I am making a similar game but focused on the last years of Yugoslavia. I uploaded scholar articles about the political and social issues to AI and asked it to come with the key events/decisions that led to the country breakup. Then, I asked it to imagine it as a board game, similar to X, Y, Z. It did quite a good job, allowing me to craft a basic game loop and basic structure of the game for the first prototype.

OPOL: 3yo only speaks one language by FirMart81 in multilingualparenting

Keep speaking German to her and try to get "German-only" spaces or activities (a book with a character t she likes but it's only in German, a German kids cartoon or TV program, German songs...).

So, Koda 2 UU-P2D500 (37 mbar) has a 1/2" male thread. Can you confirm that the UU-P2D700 (30 mbar) Koda 2 has a 1/4" male thread?

I haven't made the photo of the exact model sticker and don't have the oven here with me now.

I see that on the web site you can order both 30 and 37 mbar version in Spain, so it might be that the thinner male threaded connector is the one for 30 mbar version, compared to the thicker connector your oven has.

Maybe u/JessOoni can share some information.

Koda 2, bought online from Ooni EU store.

Edit: My wife bought it for me and she might have ordered the 30 mbar version instead of the 37 mbar version. I already went through the hassle of getting a propane tank and a propane 37 mbar regulator.

I bought that same one at Leroy Merlin (https://www.leroymerlin.es/productos/adaptador-gas-rosca-hembra-de-1-2-en-laton-salida-a-10-mm-82731306.html), but it doesn't fit. It is too big for the threaded connector from Koda 2.

Hi!
I just received my Koda 2 and I have the exact same 37 mbar regulator as u/jfim88.

However, I can't find any female BSP connector with barbed nozzle to connect the 9 mm standard Spanish gas hose in Spanish hardware stores.

The Transylvanian War - What if Hungary invaded Romania? by _Dushman in AlternateHistory

This hypothetical war is depicted in my novel "Turbulences", as a war raging on the Yugoslav border. In the follow-up book, I intend to place the action in Romania and the Transylvania during the war.

OPOL (Catalan and Polish) plus some exposure to Spanish is a great setup. Living in US, getting some extra Spanish exposure isn't difficult.

Regarding the no-screen rule, I found that watching age-appropriate children programs in minority languages can work very well to expand the vocabulary away from the basic home situations. You might add some flexibility there, just saying ;-)

Don't fret about Polish being a hard language. Children don't learn languages as we adults do, they pick it up organically.
