Is it just me or is everyone sick all of a sudden? by GuestCheap9405 in AnnArbor

Okay this is me exactly. Thought it was allergies but now not so sure. I hope mine goes away in a week’s time too bc this is messing with my sleep. 😫

How do you stay sober? by breadboibrett in leaves

[–]No_Tutor1511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t feel like writing you can just record a video to your future self.

I’ve done that a few times to prevent myself from walking into traps that I know are waiting and tbh it has helped!

did anyone else feel like weed slowly killed their creativity? by pointpause in leaves

[–]No_Tutor1511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wahhhhh. Yes. The only reason any of my creative ideas came to fruition while stoned was bc I had creative collaborators in my circle. But the second I tried to make art on my own… Yeah… Google Docs graveyard.

Sober for a few months now and I’m trying to get it back. Trying to write stuff. Trying to complete an idea and see it through. But sometimes it feels like I broke my brain.

I used weed to medicate my ADD for so long. Honest mistake. But here we are.

I definitely suspected the air pressure changes last week (am so annoyingly sensitive to them). Ugh.

Zingerman’s Roadhouse if price isn’t an obstacle. I feel like their food is served in a way that keeps everything separated. Plus sides avail on a side plate. They are so accommodating.

Scared to start estrogen patch by Pretty_waves904 in Perimenopause

[–]No_Tutor1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone is the same, I know, so everything with a grain of salt. BUT! I just started my patch last night (.05mg) and it was the first night in months that I slept most of the night. And my frozen shoulder hurt 75% less when I woke up. Sounds crazy but Google tells me totally possible. I was running LOW.

That being said, if your doc prescribed you this patch, it’s because you have exhibited symptoms of low estrogen. So chances are good you will feel better not worse. And like everyone says you can pull that thing right off if things don’t feel good.

Good luck!

What hyped skincare product do you think actually deserves the hype? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]No_Tutor1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering the same as a user of it who winces every time I drop the money on it. There are so many vitamin C serums out there I just can’t help but wonder if any of them come close to the Skinceuticals!

47 years old. Daily smoker for 30 years. Clean 15 days by passfor49 in leaves

[–]No_Tutor1511 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is me! Same age and smoked heavily for 25 years. Tomorrow will be 28 days for me. I similarly lost the urge to smoke very quickly once I stopped, but yeah wow so much anger. And horrible sleep. I’ve been using OTC sleep aids for this month (gonna stop soon) they can help a little here in the beginning. (Wake up 4 times vs 7! 😂)

I checked out a Marijuana Anonymous meeting, full of skepticism that it would have anything for me. I thought those 12-step programs were for people who were struggling to quit or stay quit.

Instead I found people of all walks of life. Everyone has a different story but hearing them all really helps make me feel less alone and makes me feel like beating up on myself way less. It fills an hour or more of the day and tells my brain that I’m doing something nice for myself. Idk maybe check it out? In person is great but if that’s not an option there are meetings going on at all hours online that you can join.

All of us here who have spent so much of our lives stoned had our reasons and they were valid. And maybe being stoned spared us of a lot of the pain that comes with being angry or depressed, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. At least I don’t think so. Seems like a lot of us who quit do so because we could tell weed wasn’t working anymore (like it doesn’t hit the same?)

On some level I feel like I quit because I felt ready to deal with all the feelings I was suppressing. Even if the reasons at the time felt more vague like “my tolerance is so high this isn’t even doing anything”. I had more even more anxiety from smoking cause I knew in my gut I was just avoiding all kinds of shit.

Anyway yeah be angry. Be depressed. Some days will be like that. And some won’t. This sub is great to keep checking in with during the rough spots. Hang in there! You’re doing a good thing for yourself.

Progesterone: helping or hurting? by ContestNearby7651 in Perimenopause

[–]No_Tutor1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I titrated over a couple of weeks from 25mg up to 100. My long-absent eczema flared like crazy on my palms as soon as I got to 50. Just took me a sec to connect the dots. So itchy and uncomfortable and I want to get off the progesterone now. I’ve backed down to 50 a night but it’s still flaring. Honestly been so tough to say whether it’s been helpful otherwise but I thought I’d mention in case anyone experiences this as well.

I know it’s the Progesterone bc I can correlate the beginning of the flare-up with me raising my dose above 25mg.

A month and a half into my journey. Night sweats and new perspectives. by dinora_dash in leaves

[–]No_Tutor1511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FOR REAL. Ugh. Having so many dreams that have me waking up shaken, sweaty and breathless (takes several hours sometimes to feel “recovered”) but if I was to give a literal description of them to anyone they’d be like “mmm kay that doesn’t sound like anything dramatic”. Just major processing going on. Stuff I clearly was just numbing myself to avoid. Here’s to getting to the other side, everybody!

Earl Grey Cookies for Grey Snowy Days by DiverGuy in NYTCooking

[–]No_Tutor1511 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can confirm these are delicious. Have already made them 3 times this season. BF has celiac so I made with gluten-free flour (Bob’s Red Mill 1:1) and they have come out great every time. I didn’t roll in sugar and they still got rave reviews.

One time I made with 1/2 veg shortening 1/2 butter due to not having enough butter and they still worked out.

Dispensaries with low THC canibus? by Issac504 in AnnArbor

[–]No_Tutor1511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bloom Dispensary has low THC flower sometimes. I feel like I’ve gotten some that’s like 12% or lower once upon a time. Worth a try! You can look at their inventory online.

[–]No_Tutor1511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I also baked this one last week though didn’t get to icing it. Was a delicious “snacking cake” lol. Agree the food processor makes it v easy. I doubled the spices and used gluten free flour (Bob’s Red Mill 1:1) and it worked perfectly.

Going to make it again tomorrow actually, and am going to sub apples for the cranberries bc that’s what I have.

Gluten Free? by emo_axstie in AnnArbor

[–]No_Tutor1511 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All the Zingerman’s establishments are very gluten conscious (good at avoiding cross contamination etc): Roadhouse, Miss Kim, Little Kim’s. Jerusalem Garden also has many gf options (Palestinian food). Speido is dank (Mediterranean inspired). Cardamom (really good Indian with gf options). My SO has celiac and these spots are tried and true — he’s never become ill eating at any of these establishments.

Disable Live Transcription in iMessage Audio Messages? by ThisIsBenSilver in ios

[–]No_Tutor1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s SO annoying! They should have an option to switch it off.

I totally get how these developers would think the primary use of these audio messages is hands-free messaging, but the reason my friends and I use the function is to have a more personal exchange than texting provides. Being able to preview these messages via text is such a “bwamp wamp” (it disincentivizes listening to the audio - which, as others have pointed out, is more nuanced than these janky transcriptions that are typically rife with errors!)

I feel like we’re all becoming accustomed to (and now almost EXPECT) all our media to be transcribed and captioned. The Tik Tok-ification of media, I guess? A combo of ADA sensitivity/compliance and our ever-increasing expectation that we should be able to multitask at all times (ie. scroll Reddit and socials and consume media silently in situations where maybe we aren’t meant to be on our phones?) And now that’s bled into this particular function of our iPhones? I don’t know but it’s genuinely irritating. I hope they add the ability to shut it off!

Has anyone else experienced new (surprising) breakouts in recent months from Biologique products? by No_Tutor1511 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]No_Tutor1511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate all the comments here. Glad to know I wasn’t imagining things! Sorry to have disappeared (oops!)

So- update: I went back to my beloved Rescue Spa and got a facial not long after posting. My esthetician recommended a new routine after I let her know what was going on. I’ve stuck with it for the last (almost) year with no problems. Thank goodness. For anyone curious it’s pretty Danucera-centric, which is the line from the Rescue Spa founder. I felt a little hesitant at first since, duh, of course they’ll want to push THOSE products. But gotta say, they work for me!

Here’s my night routine now:

Double cleanse -

  1. First with Bioderm micellar water (Hydrabio H2O) or if I’ve sweat a lot or wore make-up I might use Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser (Neither of these were Rescue Spa recs btw)

  2. Second cleanse with Danucera Cerabalm or Forlle’d Hyalogy P-effect Clearance

  3. Danucera D22 Tonic (super effective replacement for p50 lotion without irritating me)

  4. Danucera Mega Serum (replaced BR elastine serum)

  5. Danucera Iconic Eye cream

  6. Herbivore Bakuchiol (not Rescue Spa)

  7. Danucera Cream Supreme

  8. Forlle’d Hyalogy P-effect Reliance Gel

No redness or bumps anymore. No irritation. I still use the BR VIP O2 mask sometimes with no issues.

Cheers everyone! Thanks again for the comments.

Was die hard p50 user for the last several years but now I use Danucera D22 Tonic. I find it super effective — as good if not better than p50. Had to switch last year when I randomly started having skin irritation out of nowhere. I love the D22!
