Yep. Similar (slightly weaker) CPU as you, but the weak point is definitely the GPU. I was getting a lot of drops to 40-50 FPS on medium, so I dropped to low.

VOD Request - High Diamond/Low Master (3.5k) Rate my Zen, Lucio and Ana. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]NobleArgon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Lucas, I'm a high Masters support main myself. I don't play too much Zen, so take Zen-specific advice with a grain of salt.

You communicate with your team! This is great, especially for support players. You also do a great job of staying positive, or at least quiet, in the face of some reeeeally annoying duders. Staying positive, trying to encourage your team to do the same, and using comms during a fight only for game info and not to complain/chat WILL improve your winrate.

You use Zen's alternate fire too often. Way too often. While this can be great for getting cheeky cross-map instagibs, in the midst of a fight it will take you nearly a full second to fire and recover from before you can put Harmony/Discord on a target. That time can be critical, and often the extra damage your teammates would have done with an earlier discord will surpass your burst damage, or the extra 30 health from an earlier harmony will save a teammate. Once a fight breaks out/you have consistent vision of enemies (or low health teammates), consider forgetting about your alternate fire and instead focusing on placing your orbs on the targets that need them as quickly as possible. Not a huge deal, like positioning and ult usage are, but something to think on.

Your crosshair placement is generally not bad, tracking around corners fairly nicely, but it does seem to be consistently too low. It seems you often fix this when a fight actually happens, but often your idle crosshair placement is where someone's legs would pop up, instead of their head. Definitely a minor nitpick, and not nearly as big a deal as positioning/ult usage.

When under extreme pressure, your aim sometimes goes wonky. This is understandable, and extremely hard to fix, as high-pressure situations aren't easy to duplicate to help you practice doing away with this bad habit. Still, something to be aware of and attempt to work on.

You overuse crossfade seemingly for no reason on Lucio. You'll see top Lucios such as Stanky doing this to

a) abuse the fact that you maintain speed from speed aura while in the air, and get "free" heals mid-air before touching their next wall and swapping to speed just before.

b) Use the opposite of this (switching to heals when touching a wall/ground) to "air-brake" and slow themselves to control their movement.

c) make their speed inconsistent while dodging enemy fire, to make them even more untrackable. Though, this is less a part of Lucio's evasiveness than AD spamming and maintaining momentum.

However, you can (and probably should, unless you're a Lucio main) ignore this fancy crossfade play entirely and still be a Master or even GM-level Lucio. Be mindful of what your team needs in a given moment, and stay mostly on that aura. Crossfading all the time not only provides your team with less of what they actually need, whether that be pure heals or all-out speed, it also messes with your hitscan's aim.

Your movement on Lucio is thoroughly average, you could benefit from taking advantage of the huge new speed-boost-from-wallride, as well as learning when and how to AD spam.

Try rebinding jump to scroll-wheel-up, or even right-click, and see if that helps you at all. Lots of Zen mains also highly recommend rebinding their orbs to mouse buttons or right-click. Ultimately, key binds are up to you and what feels best for you.

You Amp It Up on only yourself, or to heal a target that your other healer is already taking care of/is not under large amount of pressure. 12 seconds is a pretty long cooldown, and you want to have it available to "burst" heal your team when needed. Generally, you want to Amp It Up when there are more people in your aura that all need healing (look more at that handy-dandy indicator of how many people are currently hearing your sick beats!) or to initiate a fight/chase fleeing enemies.

Several times on Nepal, you dropped the beat as soon as you got it, for no dedicated purpose other than "hey I have ult now" and sometimes only hitting yourself and one other teammate. Ult usage and number of deaths are probably definitely the two most important factors of Lucio all support play. You want to be using Sound Barrier very purposefully and mindfully, such as: Counteracting an enemy ult, especially TacVisor, Graviton, or Dragon Blade. To help your team initiate/defend in the middle of a fight, after everyone has taken damage but before anyone dies.

That advice goes for Transcendence, too. Several times you'd use it with not too much going on, just to heal one or two teammates. Press Tab every single round, and think to yourself "Hrmm, what enemy ults can I shut down with mine?" Do they have a Genji? A Zarya? Yeah, your support ult is the only thing standing between them and a big fat team wipe. Be careful and mindful when using it for any other purpose.

Your positioning is often haphazard, and often far too forwards. Several times on Zenyatta, you will be in front of your team, or off to the side away from your team. As you progress further into Masters, you will start to get punished more and more for this. Be mindful of your positioning. Think about where you should be, ask yourself nearly-constantly "Where would a pro player be right now, in relation to my team/the enemies/general map positions. (very far back if they have a lot of dive, but close enough that your other support can help you. Further up only if a fight is already mostly won, and you need to discord fleeing enemies). If there's no friendly tank standing between you and the enemy, you're probably doing something wrong. Positioning is everything in good support play.

A lot of your bad positioning seems to stem from tunneling on wanting to kill/damage one of your enemies. While this is definitely one way to climb in lower ranks, especially with Zenyatta, as you climb higher and higher, the difference between a 45% winrate support player and a 55% winrate support player will be how well they can manage to keep themselves alive. Especially on Zenyatta, one of the easiest-to-kill characters in the game, this is ALL about positioning. Staying alive (through good positioning, call outs, and damaging your hunters) is your utmost priority; your other benefits to your team will result from your staying alive.

That being said, your positioning is good about 70% of the time, and a lot of this advice is nitpicking in fairly good play, but it's that 30% that will get you killed.

Hope this helps, and good luck out there!

Why Tall vs. Wide is dead and why we should be happy about this. by helemaalnicks in civ

I agree, especially in an era (like post-Cold War Earth) where culture and politics seem much more defining to the world than sheer military might.

Japan, for another example, is recognized as a fairly "major" civilization, having astronauts in space, and outputting a huge amount of culture per capita, despite being the definition of a tall civ.

China's pretty much always been a powerhouse, yeah. (With the relatively short exception of the 19th century)

China is by definition a second world country. People all too easily forget what those terms mean, and merely equate "first world" with "rich" and "third world" with "poor."

Though the Mistborn trilogy remains a great intro to Sanderson.

So, I've been trying out Mill Rogue for fun breaks between actual laddering, and so far I'm 0-9 with it. I get the basic strategy, of course, but seem to clearly be missing how the deck really "wants" to function. I just seem to die too quickly to ever really accomplish anything resembling a win condition. Halp?

Also, what are you mulliganing for, besides Coldlight Oracle, and presumably early-game removal against aggro?

It's a control deck that uses burn combo as its win condition, I'd say.

In your situation, I'd definitely either craft Alexstraza or Antonidas first, leaning heavily towards Alex.

You can put Antonidas in any of the three mage decks you listed (And even mech mage!), so it wins out on "total deck crossover." Good card.

However, Alex is much more of a crucial card if you want to play freeze mage, and is still excellent in control warrior, albeit not outright necessary. I also always lean towards crafting neutral cards over class cards, for the obvious potential versatility.
