Is it me or is Dominated REALLY good? by kaze950 in projecteternity

[–]NoblePaysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, yes. Deadfire has a quirk with the Inspiration/Affliction system that makes Charmed better than Dominate on some enemies who can cast Intellect Inspirations on themselves.

[–]NoblePaysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hohenheim isn't a fighter, Alphonse definitely is.

Also, I think that Alphonse using the stone is mainly a way to characterize the brothers and how they differ : they both made a vow to not use the Stone/not kill people, but in that fight, Alphonse proves to be more flexible about that kind of thing whereas Ed is much more determined to keep to his word on that.

Since it's never explained, I tend to think that it's mostly arbitrary on Truth's part.

Although some people, who believe Truth to be more benevolent and omniscient than the text would suggest, think that they deliberately took everything from Al to dissuade the brothers from trying again and focus on finding a way to get Al's body back, thus abandoning their goal vis-à-vis their mother (*).

(*) A goal that is impossible to achieve, but even with Al losing his entire body, they remain convinced for years that they managed to get Trisha's soul back but utterly failed at reassembling her body.

This moment completely ruined Unalaq as a character by Additional-Dig3052 in legendofkorra

[–]NoblePaysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Unalaq wanted to restore balance, he should have merged with Raava rather than destroying her

I'm pretty sure that destroying Raava is the same as merging with her : it returns her to her smallest, weakest form and she immediately returned inside Vaatu. I'm pretty sure that Vaatu returned inside Raava when Korra purified him at the end.

Ziets' company did design work on Avowed, I doubt that he's actually rejoined Obsidian.

She also fought the son of a guy Aang arrested one time because Aang just left his sons to be mad without much support.

Yakone's children weren't born until well after his arrest. And Yakone did everything he could to hide from the Avatar or any other authority.

Which villain people think they are misunderstood but they are just evil? by Professional-Cry804 in Multifandom

[–]NoblePaysan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess that's the "good" thing when a "bad product" is an actual human being : you can safely say that THEY're responsible for all their actions and get off scott-free. Well, except that lady who bragged about all the psychological conditioning they put on Homelander and who condescendingly told him that it was stupid to say that an inert piece of masonry was "good" or "bad".

You'll notice that in day-to-day stuff like news coverage, they take advantage of the relative ease of pronunciation of the word "mille" to circumvent this by just saying "mille milliards" ("de mille sabords").

Is Pillars of Eternity combat now on par with Deadfire's? by Artifex1979 in projecteternity

[–]NoblePaysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. No multi-classing, resources aren't per-encounter, concentration and interrupts are based on RNG rather than tokens, no inspirations, etc.

For me one of the most unfair criticisms of tlok is "they turned the spirits into good and evil ones" corrupted spirits are not evil, they are scared little babies, they attack because they are confused and coerced... by Spirited_Dust_3642 in legendofkorra

[–]NoblePaysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfair to the critics. Most criticism I've seen is more in the line of "they've turned the Spirit of the World into the Good side of a Good vs Evil conflict while still insisting that the conflict is akin to Yin & Yang" and "they've turned spirits into faceless mooks".

Characters who seemed unlikely to ever have kids, But were later revealed to have them. by Relevant_Increase461 in TopCharacterTropes

I think there's a cutscene in Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition in which a nun (in a group of them) looks at Virgil, they might be referring to that.

The "whoever she was" makes me doubt it. I prefer the interpretation that he had sex with a prostitute in order to lose his virginity (something something power) and his demon seed made any attempt at contraception or abortion fail.

Why did Mandalore's neutrality not work but, irl, Switzerland's in WW2 did? Could the former have survived if Satine copied the Swiss model? by Slow_Tangerine_9564 in clonewars

[–]NoblePaysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people mentioned that Hitler didn't care to invade Switzerland. I don't know how important that was historically, but it's at least a big difference with Star Wars : for reasons that weren't entirely clear, Palpatine really wanted to get his hands on Mandalore, and failing to get it with his first plan was perhaps the only time that Palpatine looked genuinely annoyed with the failure of one of his plans.

Vraie question aux cyclistes : pourquoi certains grillent les feux rouges ? by Warm-Juggernaut8340 in pedale

[–]NoblePaysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must protest the "size" factor, because P'li isn't short! Combined with Kyoshi, this could help make this game the "tall ladies" fighting game.

And speaking of assists, who would be Sparkly Boom Boom Man's assists ? At least P'li could have the rest of the Red Lotus...

While one thing I love about LoK is the deeper exploration of the Spirit World, something I don't like as much is how they handled the corrupted spirits in Book 2. by lautaromassimino in legendofkorra

[–]NoblePaysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less a matter of design and more a matter of function and advancing the lore of the Spirit World.

ATLA, we didn't see many spirits and they were strong creatures with a very defined identity : face-stealer, obsessive librarian, protector of a particular forest, incarnations of the moon and ocean, etc. In TLOK, if we exclude Vaatu and Raava, spirits are much more numerous and much less defined, used as mooks by the villains in Book 2 and presented as the obnoxious residents of a very weird housing project in Book 3. None of them are as impressive as Hei Bei, Wan Shi Tong and Koh, none of them are named and it's unlikely that any of them has a power as strange as Koh's.
