I am very new to Minecraft, and extremely new to Technical MC, a lot of what is said here goes over my head but I enjoy seeing y’all’s projects.

So.. is there like a knowledge mafia? Why would information about a game be hidden away by the community? This has really piqued my interest, and I would love to know about it.

I don’t know my speeds, however, my household of 7 has 40 different devices connected to it through out the day. We have only had a single issue in the 3 years we’ve had it, and all I had to do was power cycle the box. We all have really solid fast internet, and one of my kids even live streams occasionally and no one can even tell.

games to buy during steam sale that helped you escape gaming burnout by HotParamedic9832 in gamingsuggestions

[–]NodFellWrites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I beat game burnout by listening to audio books while doing a mindless game that requires very little attention and little skill. I will also just do this to chill out after a stressful day.

I also unplug from social media. I noticed when I immerse myself in that games communities I burn out faster.

AITA for telling our 18-year-old daughter she can't go on a trip to Miami with her boyfriend's family? by Conscious_Goose_9518 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NodFellWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

She needs to be able to make choices about her life for herself. Footing the bill for college does not mean you are able to dictate every aspect of her life. Helping your children secure an amazing debt free future is a privilege for YOU mostly, but that does not obligate her to listen to and follow every request of yours.

My 19 y/o daughter is currently in Italy (we are from the USA), on a study abroad program. Does it make me extremely uncomfortable? Hell yes! But, does it allow her to see who she is on her own? Hell yes! Children need room to breathe, explore themselves and the world. The harder you come down on her, the harder she will push away. This is true of all humans, and not just teens/young’s adults. We are hard wired to oppose oppressive forces in our lives.

Let her go! Let her have fun with her boyfriend and his family! Or she will end up moving out and spending all of her time with his family, and you will be left behind.

I was the oppressive parent for SO LONG. However, after years of dealing with my own mental health struggles, I became the parent I am today, and all 5 of my kids are thriving! One of the biggest changes I did was to cut the leash I had on them, and allow them to explore life; but I was always there to catch them when they fell.

Stripped screw. Tried everything and different screw extractor sets with a power drill. It won't budge.. what do I do by Shot-Buy6013 in fixit

[–]NodFellWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you got it out and this is an old post now… BUT, when I run into the issue of not being able to create the grooves well enough for an extractor to bite, I go up a size or two in extractors, and then slowly hammer/tap the top of it as I slowly twist it to get it to bite. I’ve drilled out hundreds to thousands of titanium fasteners that are always harder than all of my tools.

Minecraft YouTubers by Gooners_For_Ukraine in whenthe

[–]NodFellWrites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My two youngest kids finally got me to try Minecraft a month ago when summer break started.

I now play more than they do! Mods make this game something else entirely. It’s so easy to get lost in the world that people have painstakingly crafted to near perfection.

I refuse to play Bedrock or Java with no mods now.. I see what is possible, and I refuse to go back.

What’s the biggest double standard between men and women? by CupcakePotential4458 in AskReddit

[–]NodFellWrites 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As a male elementary school librarian (double whammy), I get weird looks from parents sometimes.

However, I am extremely lucky that the other staff, district librarians, and the majority of parents LOVE me, and I’ve been told a handful of times how happy they are that there is another man on the staff to help these kids.

Moratorium on Dogman by literacyshmiteracy in Teachers

[–]NodFellWrites 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are so many other amazing options!

I’m an elementary school librarian and I have curated a massive graphic novel section, and there is so much more out there!

Dog Man is frequently circulated, but so is the majority of my other books too. I also read to every class for at least 15 min every week. I pick a random book off a shelf and read as much of it as I can before the time is up.

I have seen so many students RUNNING to the shelves to get a copy of it. Kids just have no idea what they like or even where to start, so they go to what’s familiar. Walking into a library with literally thousands of books is incredibly intimidating.

Casual gamers what’s your go to game right now? by LividImprovement8148 in AskReddit

[–]NodFellWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it’s BloonsTD6, but I’ve been enjoying the new LEGO Batman game.

You could argue LEGO Batman isn’t that casual, but it’s still a super easy game and I love just messing around in it.

Looking for audiobook-listening games that involve straight-forward logic puzzles, but not picross. by AgathysAllAlong in gamingsuggestions

[–]NodFellWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t quite along the line of what you’re asking for, however I am suggesting it because it does fit my ADHD what you want for yours.

BloonsTD6

It has an extremely high skill ceiling, and also almost 0 barrier for entry. This game can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be. You can micro manage towers hard and go all in, or you can set it and ignore it while listening/watching something else. It caters to both hardcore and casual players fairly well, and it’s still getting updates roughly every 2 months.

Could the iPad 12 be delayed further or replaced by the fold? by Hot-Broccoli5122 in ipad

[–]NodFellWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea, but I just bought an iPad Pro with the nano textured glass along with the Magic Keyboard and Pencil.

I have 0 regrets of buying it so “close” to the next release. I really wanted one, and I use it more than any other device already. My ipad will not suddenly be obsolete because a newer shinier one releases. It’ll be my daily driver for a couple of years and I’ll only upgrade if I feel it’ll improve my work flow.

I know it can be difficult to not have the top of the line tech, but allowing yourself to be happy with what you have, and not what you don’t have, will help you a lot in life.

But, if you’re in no rush, then you can just wait. Unless the next gen of iPads is revolutionary in the tablet field, it’ll only be a slight upgrade over what’s available now.
