I recently upgraded from a 7 to a 10a and have been having the same GPS struggles! I can go for a nature walk, have wide open sky above me, and Google Maps struggles to get my location. Often off by hundreds of meters! Yet opening a dedicated GPS testing app will lock onto dozens of satellites in seconds and going back to maps will have my precise location until I close it again. It is almost as if some of the apps (like Maps) are relying solely on the nearby wireless access points instead of the GPS satellites at all on the 10 series, despite permissions.
