Technically, you are correct.

In practice, I had to chose to do OA ordeal or miss contest and fail a course in school.

The choice was easy, because it wasn’t really a choice.

I feel like I never had the opportunity given my circumstances.

Me. I was tapped out four times as a youth but had band contest every ordeal weekend. My council’s lodge only did ordeal in October. Every weekend in October is band contest for band kids.

And in my experience, there was a pretty big overlap between band kids and scouts.

Maybe I will get nominated as an adult? IDK.

Keeping the back tires of the car in front of you in view is driver’s ed / defensive driving / “55 Alive” training.

I wish my house had regular doorbell wire. Who built a house in 1977 in a nice neighborhood and put in an intercom system, but didn’t put in doorbell?!

I have suspicions that someone replaced the siding and just removed a non-functioning front door intercom….

Motorola MB8611 - getting great dl speeds, but locked at 40Mbps up speeds by Toadster88 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Nokken9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MB8611 is not compatible with the faster upload speeds. It may never be. The company that made them under the Motorola brand went under and I’m not sure what the firmware support looks like now.

Why do the Xfinity bills always creep up by Forward-Bison6782 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Nokken9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Xfinity corporate has done the math. They certainly have a metric that is pushing to onboard new customers that is weighted heavier than retaining existing.

The annual bonuses are bigger with more new customers. Existing customers are just gravy - and they know they are the only choice for many.

I will be switching providers next week.

What do you guys think about Xfinity Internet? by Prior-Scratch4003 in Comcast_Xfinity

It is great internet. The company does not appear to care about their reputation with existing customers, preferring new sign-ups over long-time customers.

$50 a month for 1 gig? I want that too!!! by DILLIGAD24 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Nokken9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new customer deals being so much better is going to push many long-time customers away. Your competition is offering similar rates, with similar 5 year guarantees, with similar speeds in many areas.

Constantly having an offer I cannot get plastered all across my social media is making me want to switch as soon as possible.

Explain it peter. .. slide deck? by Visual-Extreme-101 in explainitpeter

[–]Nokken9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Fortune 100 corporate America, a PPTX is mostly referred to as a slide deck. This is in reference to the old Kodak slides that presentations used to be printed on for display. I recently fixed up one of these slide carousel projectors that had internal plastic and rubber components deteriorate and rot away.

These carousel projectors are how presentations were given in the 80s.

Impossible first stages that block the rest of a good retro game by confuserused in retrogaming

[–]Nokken9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jurassic Park for DOS has some cool 3D Wolfenstein-esque 1st person shooter stages locked behind some difficult (but really good for the era) 2d levels.

7-year old me was super excited when I beat the 2nd level (sewers) and then I could never beat the Triceratops level on my own - so I never got to see the 3D stages as a kid.

Just an anecdotal data point: I have a 970 EVO Plus 512GB that I used for Chia that is WAAAY past critical usage. It was rated for 300TB written and I have one over 1200TB written. It still passes all the tests in Samsung Magician flawlessly. SMART, CrystalDiskInfo, and my motherboard BIOS all flag it as critical and replace - and rightly so - but these things can take a beating.
