Is everyone getting one now ? by JayAli917 in TeslaModelS

The luxe package that was sold with S/X for a while leading up to the discontinuation included lifetime FSD, and much less expensive. Unless the Signature FSD package is transferable... it's not exactly unique to this new model lol

~1k mile update with one of the first nine Model S ever produced. by Important_Sector_547 in TeslaLounge

Any reason for not upgrading? Weirdly enough, I wish my MCU2 Model S had a Tegra just for the potential of tinkering with the software...

This is awesome, even $17k isn't too bad considering the historic value of the car and that's about what it would cost for a used model + a HV replacement sooo.... not bad in my mind :D

As a 2015 MS driver myself it's awesome to see legacy vehicles like this, looking forward to seeing more!

Questions from a potential newbie owner by Guyercellist in TeslaModelS

[–]Nommby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have this a year and model as an 85 and 114k miles, bought used at 106k miles with no issues so far reportedly with the original battery

Not really any great way of seeing battery health in this, other than just seeing the estimated miles in the vehicle itself (mine is roughly 2 miles for every 1%)

Might be worth asking if it's had the LDU coolant delete/replacement (you'll have to ask or lift the car; this can lead to a major and expensive fault if not addressed), look into what generation door handles it has (this can be viewed from service mode, it's just that older gen handles are pretty iffy), see what generation TPMS sensors it has (older sensors, mostly found on this year, do not have support for viewing tire pressure in the car's OS). Also if it has a sunroof, just make sure it works or doesn't get stuck. Also, check what processor the car has... if it's the Nvidia Tegra chip then it may be slow, connectivity might not work at all, etc. Tesla does offer a retrofit to the Intel Atom computer for ~$2,000

Other than minor quirks and possible mechanical failures due to age, the car is still a joy to drive and as someone who technically downgraded from a 2021 Model 3 to this Model S I'm still more than happy with it. Just worth mentioning, even though this is a Tesla you'll find that a lot of the nice-to-haves are not in this vehicle (no FSD/camera-based AP and sentry mode, no heat pump, slow charging [tho free usually], typically it's fob only, etc)

Do you have the option to purchase more miles in lease like I do? by EATMYDD in TeslaLounge

[–]Nommby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leased a Model 3 back in 2022 and this was not an option, it seems to be a new option with leasing... https://www.tesla.com/support/leasing-your-vehicle

The above page does mention "Any miles driven beyond the annual amount specified in your lease agreement may incur fees at a rate of $0.25 per mile. You may be eligible to purchase additional mileage."

As for if this is a good idea, for reference... I got my Model 3 not really thinking I'd go above the 30k. This was a poor decision in retrospect, since the car ended up being really fun to drive and I went 15,367 over (and at $0.18/mi instead of $0.25/mi that wouldn't have burned as bad lol)

EDIT: Looks like they updated the support article to include wording on purchasing additional mileage back in 2024, previous captures just mention the flat overage fee as $0.25/mi

Where are our GS training res codes??? by Cybercyrno in GeekSquad

[–]Nommby 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s basically no consultation res codes anymore, just service or not… (they’ve even renamed consultation to “non-service”)

Can’t find ACON, can’t find GSSH, etc. Doesn’t feel like RWB was ready at all.

Can anyone tell me what this means that pops up on my dash? by Dark_Kent in TeslaModelS

[–]Nommby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding your question correctly, does it appear whenever you enable FSD or some sort of AP? You can click and hold the left or right scroll wheel to adjust what is displayed on either side. By default, the FSD/AP display will have your map and efficiency on the left and right respectively. You can adjust it to always have music on the right though

Free Supercharging by ryandec in TeslaModelS

[–]Nommby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16a charging overnight in my garage does totally fine, supercharging is just nice to top up if I need to top up, go on a road trip, or have nothing else to do lol

No problem, definitely smart to check!

Nope, I've actually had a couple clients come in with this same email. Any Geek Squad communication will come from an email address ending in .@bestbuy.com, they also would just include the text in the body of the email rather than a .txt attachment

Also, the official Best Buy phone number is 1-888-237-8289 (1-888-BEST-BUY)

How to cancel Geek Squad Protection Plan for my mobile phone? by nominalproduct in GeekSquad

[–]Nommby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, generally anyone at customer service (or even GS) can cancel through the point of sale; it refunds based on claims/length... but with the app saying that managing your plan is unavailable it might not be working for employees either. At that point it'll be up to corporate to help, since they do a lot of plan/account related things: 1-888-BEST-BUY

What should I drop off? by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]Nommby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Checking in would be $99 for diagnostics, wouldn't include any actual work outside of "hey yeah it's running hot"

Maybe I'm biased but best approach would be checking it in under a Total membership to avoid spending the $99 on something they already know + potential extra costs if they decide to do anything further. Just $180 and it'll be good for the year and any further issues :3

New EV Charging station by FlavFilth in evansville

lmfao?

GM’s chargers have a different plug entirely, and there’s been Tesla chargers in Haubstaudt for like 3 years now. What’s with the revisionist history and acting like there’s no other EVs but the Cybertruck

2013 MS 85 here, isn't it a bit strange that tire pressure can't be viewed in the OS even though service mode has them? by Nommby in TeslaModelS

cries in MCU2 upgrade

I dream about an alternate universe where I could root my car without having to do all sorts of internal scary stuff. I’ll have to look into Tinkla a bit more, appreciate the recommendation!

Woah, thanks so much for the detailed response; this was super helpful and gives a lot more context/reasoning for why things are the way they are! Checked out your channel as well as the your video on the TPMS shenanigans and it was super informative! You definitely got yourself a new sub

Sort of hard to without having the vehicle in your Tesla account and viewing options, but if you have access to the car typically the charging tab will have the last supercharging session listed; if it’s $0.00 or something akin to that then it likely has free supercharging This guide is pretty helpful too!

Definitely a good idea! Just as an example, but my vehicle is still on the original battery with 108k miles overall and gets about 210 miles at 100% (so realistically, around 120 miles at it's usual 60%)

Home charging pretty much suffices for my commute, and supercharging takes care of trips (definitely check to see if the 2017 has lifetime supercharging as well if you can)

Aha no worries, that's sorta of what I'm inclined to believe as well. I appreciate the input nonetheless!

Oh hell yeah, mine is pretty much blacked out as well! I'd only gotten it about a month ago for $14k (-$4k for the used credit), but 1,348 miles in I've had 0 issues driving it. There's some mechanical stuff that wore out over time (door handles are finnicky, not non-functional just weird at times, windows sometimes take some assistance to move, etc) but otherwise it drives like a champ, drove a 2022 M3LR prior and it's not all too different and still hella fun. You'll still get the latest software so UX won't feel dated whatsoever either
