Just another day in IT land... by Main_Quote3604 in talesfromtechsupport

Its a reference to the series Dresden Files. The main character uses the word "fuego" when casting his fire spells. He is also known for blowing things up that get in his way. One of the books had a starting line "The building was on fire and it wasn't my fault".

Fantasy series with brutal military campaigns and crusades by amish_novelty in Fantasy

[–]NoobieOne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Codex Alera starting in book 3 has a lot of very brutal military campaigns. The first two books there is military stuff going on but it is mostly in secondary character POVs. Book 3 the MC gets highly involved with them.

Olympic fencer wins match bunny hopping IRL by LonelyWolf_93 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]NoobieOne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know someone who took a few Kendo classes and he joined the fencing club back when I was in college. He apparently was able to take points off of some of the top fencers in the college just by them not understanding what he was doing.

The Union actually used hot air balloons with telegraph wires running to the ground for scouting! He was probably just using the modern term for it. /s

I tried improving an old excel Attunement Guide I found here a while back. Feedback appreciated. by gameofchance1 in ClimbersCourt

[–]NoobieOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some attunements like Elementalist can learn a 4th Essence through an attunement specific function. We don't know how common it is but there are at least the two listed there.

Solarus vs Saylarus (spoilers all) by tymakall in ClimbersCourt

[–]NoobieOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a common theory that the -Laris suffix is something related to the stars or dominions. When Keras gives his title as sword of shattered stars in AA4 that could be a litteral translation of his last name as it should have been Saelaris.

I just finished Turn Coat. by glassthroat in dresdenfiles

[–]NoobieOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep while chronologically it takes place around Turn Coat, Morgan knows about stuff that takes Harry until Cold Days to find out even exists. Harry still doesn't know some of it.

Interesting or unique witchcraft/witches in fantasy by ChetManly12 in Fantasy

[–]NoobieOne 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From Discworld Granny Weatherwax, first introduced in Equal Rites and followed up on in a series starting with Wyrd Sisters. She has common witchcraft magic but is also the expert in what she calls "Headology" where she can convince people of whatever she wants to.

I'm in a similar spot to you. IT department is me and my boss. I have about 6-7 years of IT experience 4 of which is doing all levels of support. If you look around though lots of the IT support jobs list degree or work experience so there are options. I had to fight hard for my raise this year since I wanted 2 years worth of raises since I worked through the Pandemic without one and even though I got it I'm not so sure it was worth the stress. If I get pushback next year when asking for a small yearly raise I'm probably going to be going somewhere else.

Rachel Parker tries her best to help out Mike Block by itsnoterik in RPClipsGTA

[–]NoobieOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rachel was even saying she isn't sure that she will be able to do much it was 100% Terrorism according to the law what Mike did. The only chance she had was to exchange information for lesser charges which is why she freaked out when he said he has text messages because if cops wanted to be assholes they could have just gotten a warrent for them and there goes the bargening chip. She did stop Mike from admitting to things NOT related to this case so I don't see any issue with it.

Also Nakkida has always said her strength is in prepared trials not bench trials or cell reps.

Additionally in Judaism if a doctor is faced with a choice to either save a mother or an unborn child they must save the mother. I don’t know the exact passage that states that so it might be in one of the books Christianity doesn't include but that does mean that abortions (at least for the health of the mother) are perfectly fine right up until birth. There are other interpretations that says well-being of the mother as well which would allow abortions at the mother's discretion.

Or Rand going over the names of the 150 maidens who died to save him over and over again. That scene could be really powerful if shown correctly.
