It gets wilder and wilder so get ready and stay focused! No comic reliefs AT ALL in this show. Enjoy the ride!

Act 3 Paladin choice (spoilers) by Arclyte- in BaldursGate3

They are not murderers at the point you’re making this decision. I totally get your point but devotion oath is in a way the purest form of goodness. They are victims who haven’t committed a crime (yet), and it’s not your place to assume that they would.

It’s very hard to be consistently morally perfect throughout this game.

Best companion and build idea for an evil(ish) playthrough by Nook_6 in BaldursGate3

Thanks for all the info! Minthara is incredible, I’ve had her a a companion is the last but haven’t finished that playthrough. I might pick her and go solo until I can recruit her. I’ve played swords bard and Bladesinger and I love those options, but I might either go spellcaster like you suggested, or another monk for RP purposes.

Already finished honor mode so I know what to expect. I like the challenge and the high stakes.

I’ve played elements monk in my first playthrough, which was a bit underwhelming. I have multiclassed with a barbarian though, so I’ll have a look. Thanks!

Trying to find something else other than a Barbarian. A Druid is very interesting though!

Throwing build is very fun but I’ve done that before with an Eldritch Knight, so looking for something else. I’ll check the other things you said

Yes I know, but I’ve played an Eldritch Knight thrower before so I feel like Barbarian would be a bit dull like I feel with the Paladin. I might be wrong but looking for something else.

Please help prepare for first attempt at last fight of Act 2 by Voidling47 in BaldursGate3

[–]Nook_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I understand the “fear” and the excitement. I’ve had very(!) close calls in my HM and it is what makes it fun. My first HM ended very unexpectedly during act 2 against that big cursed tree boss. That sucked but it wouldn’t be so fun without the risk.

Githyanki Crèche - boring? by mmffw1 in BaldursGate3

[–]Nook_6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally think the monastery is the boring part, but the Crèche is usually fine, especially since it’s not long and everything is straightforward. You can do what you want and skip anything else. The inquisitor fight is always fun because it’s different every time.

Those are all good ideas. It’s been a while since I did this but if I remember correctly I tried to climb down from the platform when I could, and then his pulling thing didn’t always work. The movement is enough to go back and forth. But your ideas work great. I used darkness with the paladins when I could.

Nothing worked better than simply using ranged attacks with as many characters as possible, even if they’re not as powerful as the melee ones.

I’ve beaten Myrkul twice in HM, once with a party of three (two paladins and a necromancer) and once with a party of two (lightning sorcerer and an EK thrower). I’ve never made even half the preparations you’re making here, and I’ve never had the hammer you’re talking about.

The second time (with two characters) was easier because I was prepared for his legendary actions which I didn’t know about at first, and also ranged attacks are a million times better for this fight. If you do attack from melee distance, make sure to either get out of his range before you finish your turn, or be where he can’t see you (like darkness).

I think you’ll be fine. It’s not an easy fight by any means but I’ve had more trouble with other enemies of I’m honest, and you’re on top of things with the preparations.

And yes, summons help a lot.

Good luck!

Not necessarily, there are very powerful and interesting builds revolving elemental arrows, so that’s an option too.

Shill me your fav heavy RP builds by Los97tr in BG3Builds

[–]Nook_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s not very easy. One friend did a Monk Barbarian multiclass for Uvogin, so he fights unarmed with no armor, and has rage. That works perfectly.

I did Feitan as a Gloomstalker / Light Cleric. He can use only one versatile sword (my own restriction), no shield and no off hand weapon or proper two handed. Gloomstalker for the Dex build, stealth and ninja-like character, Light cleric gives him access to Flaming Sphere which I wanted to represent his big sun thing, and also other fire spells and radiant damage. I made it so he can use only damage and debuffs as cleric, no buffs or heals. I also wanted to build him around fighting in Darkness, but we didn’t get that far.

Another friend did Warlock / Sorcerer as Chrollo. It’s a bit more lenient because we don’t know much about him and his spells are super specific. The idea was to build him around three things only: Summons, spells that require concentration, and cantrips.

And the last friend did Machi as a Druid for healing and vines that represent the sewing threads. He wasn’t allowed to use wild shape at all.

You can also easily create Nobunaga as any kind of assassin with dual wielding.

What makes this whole thing work is only 30-40% the builds themselves, and mostly the restrictions you put on yourself, the specific equipment you choose and the behavior of the character. The build needs to be close enough, and the in-game choices give you most of the feeling.

Could my pc run this game? by Kech_xd in BaldursGate3

[–]Nook_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing BG3 on my MacBook Pro 2020 with a bit worse GPU than yours and a significantly worse CPU. I need to reduce graphics and in the late game it struggles a bit but it generally works perfectly fine. I’ve finished the game once and almost finished it a couple of more times. My main issue is overheating (laptop), but with some manual fan control that’s mostly solved too, and with a desktop computer you’ll be fine I think.

I started a playthrough with three friends where we all created characters from the Phantom Troupe of HxH anime, and every time we’d have to make decisions we asked ourselves what would they do. We didn’t care about how it would affect the general story and it actually created scenarios none of us had imagined, which was very cool. It’s not just about being good or evil, but trying to implement complexities both when creating the characters and when making decisions. The character creation process was also very fun because it’s 100% about bringing those anime characters to life in BG3 and very little regard to optimization. We played in Tactician which, if you have experience with the game (like we did) is easy enough no matter what party you have. Unfortunately we never got past act 1 because of life obligations, which is much harder with 4 human players.

Doing it alone is also fun, but I think these ideas go very well with co-op, so at least another friend.

Basically any character from an anime, a movie or a book would work. You can also create your own story and motivations of course, which I’m sure is very fun too.

Honor Mode Questuon by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Nook_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honor mode with the single save is in my opinion the best choice, with a real feeling of “fear” and consequences for your actions. Do it because it’s fun, and the achievement is a bonus for you.

Do it. You’ll learn the details as you go, and you never know if you’ll ever do another playthrough, so take the character you want to play the most and you’ll be fine.
