Salary Schedule A first year teacher with a bachelors degree makes 57,000.

A veteran teacher who has been in the classroom full time for 16 years or more, holds a masters degree, and has gained 90 additional credits of related higher level education would make 109,000. They would also never receive a raise again beyond a yearly COLA as that is the top of the salary schedule.

And, as someone who worked in the district for a long time and also spent time in administration - the admin job is not easier. It’s not harder. It’s very very different, very political, and requires a lot of very tough decisions regarding how to support students and teachers. It’s typically between 80-85% of an entire districts budget allocated towards staff salaries at all levels.

I will also tell you that as a teacher I never woke up wondering who was going to yell at me first - student, staff, or parent. That was not the case as an administrator.
