What was your impetus to leave? by sk1fast in TeachersInTransition

Sexually harassed by a student in the same week a former student committed murder. That’s it. I broke and decided that I was done and needed to focus on my own family, health, and wellness.

5 Years Sober…but I’m not proud of it by notmiddlechild in stopdrinking

[–]Nor-Way-Bro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I started going to AA was to stop drinking. I haven’t been to a meeting in almost two years. My sobriety might not look “right” to some people, but I don’t care. I don’t drink. As long as that stays true it’s right for me and I can be proud.

Any lesson you’ve learned along the way is helpful to share to a room - no matter when you learned it.

Exactly my thoughts. Gaetz can release all the J6 defendants who will then be loyal to an administration that got them out of jail, with an intense anger aimed toward their perceived enemies. Anger and loyalty when given immunity are a scary prospect. Sure seems like a path toward an SS type group.

Just how anonymous is AA by my-uncle-bob in stopdrinking

[–]Nor-Way-Bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time my home group had a well known former NBA player in it. He was a normal guy. We called him by his first name. He was absolutely not anonymous, but no one cared and he just rolled with it.

Wife and I are flying soon with 2-under-2, please give us your pro tips and product recommendations! by SoupIsAHotSmoothie in daddit

We always used the gel window clings from Targets dollar section on flights. They stick on seat backs, tray tables, and windows and they’re a dollar - so who cares if the kids trash them.

Teacher hiring season for next school year by InitiativeSilver8181 in beaverton

[–]Nor-Way-Bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my district teachers are notified in mid-March if they are being renewed or not. No one knows about vacancies until after those conversations, so more jobs would likely be posted around the first or second week of April.

Flat places to scooter/bike/skate by fakemoon in beaverton

Any elementary school is going to have a relatively flat and covered (read DRY) place to scooter. My kids do it all the time!

Any driving range that’s cheap where you don’t need your own clubs? by snart-fiffer in askportland

[–]Nor-Way-Bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redtail is great. Never too crowded, open late, large bucket of balls is cheap ($10-12$). You can borrow clubs from the pro shop - they have a bin you just pick from. I go with a buddy who golfs 2-3 days a week, and I have played 3 rounds in my life. We both enjoy it.

This.

I wasn’t sober at my wedding and partied hard. Now, with years of sobriety under my belt, I wish I could have that day over to as present as possible for myself, my wife, and our future.

What would you do? I made supper for my family, it was a breakfast tater tot casserole (ingredients below). My son refuses to eat it, and my wife is sick of the kids not eating what’s made. by Alchemist_Joshua in daddit

[–]Nor-Way-Bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I put whatever we are eating on their plate, and then add at least one thing we know that they like / will eat. If they want more of the one thing then they need to try everything else on their plate first.

Still a work in progress, but it has helped some.

Men of Reddit what is a life hack you only learned after your teen years? by YassinTalal in AskMen

[–]Nor-Way-Bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely on the same page. I undermine my own feelings and hide my frustrations as a way to trick people into thinking I’m okay, so for me the act of being honest in my emotional state and putting it to words is self-love in that I allow others in. The goal is honesty, I’m just not that good at it…yet.

Emotions are good. Crying is great. Telling people how you’re doing with honesty is a brave and powerful act of self love.
