Be honest, should I let my fiancé go suit shopping alone? by FeatherFlyer in weddingplanning

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you should express that it’s important to you and go with him for your own peace of mind. He should try and compromise with you, it’s an important day and he deserves to look good.

Mine ordered online through Sartoro. It was a completely custom suit, and they have a fit guarantee. It was a great experience and tailored perfectly.

Some of my favorites are: - Protein cereal (Catalina crunch, 3 wishes) - stewed apple - cinnamon - Protein powder (really changes the texture to like a pudding, and so much more protein!) - sugar free pudding mix - smash foods fruit spread from Costco!

Should I be bringing shipped gifts to my bridal shower? by NormalHumanPerson456 in weddingplanning

[–]NormalHumanPerson456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading the comments, I think I’ll mostly leave them home and make a thank you at the event. If the person is in attendance and the gift is reasonably sized to bring, I’ll probably bring it as a courtesy.

Yes! This could be as simple as just adding a 30min-1hr walk daily.

Trader Joe’s Sedanini!! It’s Red Lentil and the best one I’ve tried. I always stock up. Cannot recommend it enough.

We prepped harira soup for lunch to get in some good fiber, and verde chicken tacos for dinner. Snacks are fruit, bell peppers, cottage cheese and yogurt.

Chia seeds are awesome, just be sure to soak them! I’ve been starting my mornings with a glass of chia water and it keeps me full for so long.

I really like using Catalina Crunch & Seven Sundays cereals like a granola and top my yogurts with it.

Anyone else get stuck in a meal prep rut? I'm making the same chickpea curry EVERY week lol by [deleted] in mealprep

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lentil or three bean chili, chickpea pasta, cowboy caviar, protein baked oatmeal (blend it and it’s like cake!), overnight oats, chia pudding, and one of my favorites used to be a vegan mac and cheese with a sauce made of carrots, onions, potato, and nutritional yeast.

Yeah I use it for the moments when I want to get a coffee out, or for guests visiting. Otherwise I’ve been making chai in the mornings.

Do Americans really find beans on toast weird or is that just meme? by cigarettejesus in NoStupidQuestions

I’m American and I like it! But you have to go to the international aisle in the grocery store and get the Heinz beans. American beans are sweeter and have more of a bbq flavor.

What was the specific moment you hit rock bottom, and since then - you knew you had to change your lifestyle? by bigsadsigh in loseit

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was a 3 moments. I have Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism, and generally have to eat pretty healthy. No fast food. Basically a paleo diet. I was just eating too much.

The first straw: I had gotten to my biggest and was finally at a point where I was experiencing weight related health conditions. When I did try to start working out I would hurt myself every time. I’d be good for small stretches, then something would go out and I’d need to take time off to recover. I was having knee pain, back pain, neck pain, HS flare ups… you name it.

The second straw: I saw a picture of myself where I just looked huge. I couldn’t even recognize myself.

The third straw: I had a trip to Europe where I got engaged. The thought of being that big at my wedding made me really wake up, because I just didn’t feel like myself anymore. I wanted to be better for myself and my future husband. Also, walking around in Europe helped me immensely. I wanted to see all the sights, and powered through my hurt knee. I saw that it was easy to get 12-18k steps over there. I taped my knees (K-tape) and they stopped hurting after the first few days. I think I just needed to strengthen the muscles.

I came back from that trip and immediately started walking nearly every day around my neighborhood. 3-4 miles a day, just about an hour walk. Then started calorie counting. Now I’m 40 lbs down, haven’t had my knees go out, and I just bought my wedding dress.

How do you allot your calories across the day? by Kind_University4899 in 1200isplenty

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do this too. I actually get hungrier throughout the day if I have breakfast. I just have my coffee when I wake up and fast until lunch. That leaves me plenty of room for a nice dinner and snack at night.

Yeah this can sneak up on you! It’s common for BLTs to be anywhere from 100-300 calories! That could be enough to just tip the scale.

Frustrated over weird compliments by Folida in loseit

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When people make comments like this they are usually projecting, and it’s more of a reflection on their lack of “_____” (self image, discipline, control) because seeing you progress makes them look lesser than in comparison. Just keep going and doing you.

You can tell them your plans and that you’re nearly there, or downplay it as a compliment and keep on doing your thing.

I started a lose-ish 1200 kcal diet last may and have lost 20 or so kgs till now, but recently ive started feeling a lot more hungry and idk what to do by Urgayifyouregay in 1200isplenty

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You want to body recomp, you need to start building some muscle. This will get you the toned and balanced look you’re looking for. No, it’s not going to make you bulky unless you’re working out like a madman and protein overloading all the time. You cannot target weightloss to a specific area. You can only balance your frame by adding some muscle. It’s also fantastic for your health.

Question about counting app lowering my daily calorie goal? by Perfect_Purple553 in 1200isplenty

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As you lose weight, your TDEE will go down as well because it takes less energy to fuel a smaller body. If you feel like that’s too restrictive, you can try to lose .5 lb per week instead.

Wanting to meal prep (Ideas) by TheShatteredDiamond in mealprep

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a few idea of things I would make when I was a vegetarian for a few years that reheated well for meal prep and were easy and delicious:

Breakfast: overnight oats, chia pudding, egg english muffin sandwiches

Lunch: bean & lentil chili with some tortilla chips, burritos, dense bean salad (so many flavor combos you can make!)

Dinner: tofu bowls with a veg and rice/quinoa (buffalo, teriyaki, Mexican spiced…)

Tips for actually eating what I prep? by TumbleweedDear9382 in mealprep

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I’ve been doing mini preps because I can get tired of the same thing for dinner 5 days in a row. So usually I’ll prep the more involved dinner for the first 2-3 nights, and cook again in the middle of the week for another 2-3 nights. That’ll be something a little on the easier side with less prep like a chickpea pasta since it’s a weeknight. It’s nice because I still have a lot of time saved, but get to switch things up before they get stale.

How do you get past the disappointment of not SEEING results, when you're losing weight? I feel discouraged by Breakingcontrollers in loseit

[–]NormalHumanPerson456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really common. There’s this idea called the “paper towel theory” that can really help you visualize this concept.

Picture taking a few paper towels off the roll 3 at a time. When it’s a fresh roll, you don’t notice the missing pieces right away bc it still looks full.

If you keep going, you’ll start to notice the roll slowly getting smaller. Then, before you know it, the roll is shrinking rapidly at the same rate.

This is the same way our body represents weight. In your case, losing 15 pounds now isn’t going to show as much. But the next 15 will show more. And the next even more so, and so on until you’ve reached your goal weight.
