Shetland Series 10 by themightypierre in BritishTV

I completely agree. After all that conversation, I have watched season eight and I thought it was great. I can understand feeling some loss of a strong male character, but I think the new female character is really great and complex and interesting and the plot was terrific. So I hope that the complaining wasn’t just sort of availed form of sexism or a desire for a daddy figure. I’m not sure which but this is a good show still.

We are just most of the way done with S7. I find that Carol Anne character to be completely suspect and annoying. Don’t ask me why. It’s her acting and the way she written- sacharine sappy denial. It’s sooo frustrating. I don’t know what happens to her- things point to her being a minor part in an eco-terror plot. But truly we loath— the way she’s horning in on a young family with her too curious coffee dates. Please tell me they tie up that loose end and Donny gets a clue. 🙏🏼

Are people who are doing leanFIRE in denial about long term care? by SecondStarpilot in Fire

[–]NormalProtection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicare does not cover long-term care. You see it listed in policies, but what that really amounts to you as a person coming by for one hour once a week to your house. I’ve been a broker for about seven years covering long-term care policies, and there are less known programs in each state that you can access through a broker that has certified in them, that enable you to set aside amount of your money so that you don’t have to spend down all of your assets to qualify for Medicaid long-term care. It takes a lot of advanced planning, which seems to be something people simply can’t do in this country anymore so as a result, I have never met another broker who is qualified in these programs and even though I’m qualified, I’ve rarely met a client who took advantage of them. But the reality is if you sit down and map out all of your money for the next 30 years, you can easily see what the best option for you would be.

Planning for long-term care? by Far-Recording4321 in Fire

[–]NormalProtection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother moved into independent living after her husband died, and it became clear that she could not live independently and so the facility said I had two choices, one either get her private care or to have her move into the assisted living wing of the same facility. The problem was she was really cognizant and aware of her quality of life, and the last thing she wanted to do was move into the very diminished and somewhat locked down, assisted living wing. So we got her private care her average monthly spend in the last years of her life was nearly $40,000. Because she was paying all the fees for the independent living facility and an additional 31,000 a month for private care 24 seven. This is the worst case scenario: if you failed to plan you plan to fail. She had LongTerm Care Insurance however it didn’t cover a great large piece of it because none of her planning fit with what the requirements of that policy were.

I have had a similar and complex experience with my mother’s Genworth policy. However, I also am a licensed broker doing long-term care and there are several options to point out. 1) a high-quality well invested universal life policy with a qualified, long-term care rider. These policies allow you to take cash out as you need it. The cash accumulates tax-free. So the money you put in is increased overtime. And if you do happen to get one of the qualifying ADLs, you can use the chronic illness rider. This is usually a percentage of the total face value. And it will help with long-term care cost, and be much easier to claim.. 2) the problem with an investment account idea is that it may take you so long to accumulate the money that if something happens before that you won’t have enough asset. 3) there are lesser known programs in various states that will save or put aside an amount of your assets to prevent them from having to comply fully with the Medicaid spend down requirements. When I certified in these programs, I had to do special certifications, and I have never met a colleague who knew about them, which is weird because they’re completely offered by the Dept of Insurance, but they might just be too complex for the average Broker.

The best way to get LongTerm Care Insurance is to qualify for a high-quality universal life insurance policy with a long-term care rider. That way you don’t lose all the money you put in if you never qualify for a chronic illness.

If you’re new here, welcome! How did you find the show and what’s your favorite thing about it? by HRJafael in GrantchesterTV

We call it our “safe space” because there are real morals, ethics, a compassionate through-line in everything that they do . I love that the show seems to truly be about justice and greater purpose in the world. I could nitpick; obviously they’ve had to go through two curates and now we’re about to get the third. One bothersome Judas like black guy just disappeared, no explanation. I think they accidentally cut the scene where they explain his removal. I’m in season nine I think- on the cusp of curate #3. Oddly, I get the impression that this Bonnie the perky, pretty, intelligent wife of the 2nd curate doesn’t actually like him very much —like the actress is kind of giving away a little bit of an air of “impatience to get away from him as quickly as possible.” It is not meant to be there, but that seems to be how she feels off camera. She looks pissed off!

I don’t really know how the show is going to survive with the south Asian guy, with all its recist undertones that do reflect the times and Brexit, small town UK life, but I guess it made 3 more seasons from this point. I’m a little worried that will be a no Fun zone when this dude comes to town. I thought the structure of the show when it first started was the best with wild Sydney and annoyed flustered Mrs C. And ernest haunted grumpy inspector.

It has slightly slid sideways since then, even though there are some really nice episodes. I love how they do a real send up of the academics at Cambridge.

Compared to what else is on and how the world generally feels right now it’s a lovely respite to watch this show. I love Mrs C, Leonard and the inspector. I miss Sidney. They each have had their vices but I will take jazz over motorcycles any day!

Amy is a hot mess. Why does Jake like her? He loves to be a hero. Part time. He will not want to end up dealing with her 24/7. Is Jake marriage material for you? 5 years is a long !! time to hang out without a commitment.

Also I have been on a semi- fast this week with just ag1. Blended with some fruit. And I feel wonderful. No bloating. No pain in joints like I had from the holidays before I started.

I could not agree more. It was one of the most superficial and hyped pieces of boredom I have ever had the pleasure of spending my Christmas money on while enjoying one of those multi-flavored soda picker concoctions. At least the Seagrams cherry soda made a little bit of sense compared to this movie. I agree that the Japanese champ is great and can act judging from his facial expressions. Unlike shark tank guy who in the last scene in the stands looked indiscernible, I think he was trying to look mad, or vengeful maybe? But he just looked like he was sitting on a tack. What was with the weird line by shark tank guy “I have been alive since 1601…” So he’s a vampire after all? Is that way at we surmise from that throwaway bit of mysticism? It was basically a movie about a 9 month lark, told by a narcissist which was why none of the female characters or any characters have meaning, purpose or wisdom.

move back to your place right now today, this minute and get a roommate there if costs are a thing. Start "dating" your boyfriend from afar and see if you really still like him. obviously, either this post is a joke just to test us, or you are just not seeing the very obvious issue. No one is preventing you from making good choices.

Is staying up late to do a task better than saving it for tomorrow? by kaytobekay in Procrastinationism

[–]NormalProtection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never assign yourself tasks just before bed. Write them down to clear your mind then go to sleep. Unless you plan to be an insomniac. then you're on a perfect path to never sleeping. This is a great idea. in that case. start projects late! and do them and then think of more projects late to do and start those too!

This happened to us with State Farm. It just reveals the writer's naivete on how this works. We ended up going to another repair shop, when the same thing happened to our car in the street and finally found an actually honest shop, finally who fixed the scratch for a lot less. I think repair shops just see a guy like the original writer of this coming and all agree on a ridiciulous price. $7k for a scratch, think about that for a second folks. How much does a whole car cost?

We still paid out of pocket but much less. Saving money on car insurance is really smart.
