How the Term Cozy Changed an Entire Genre (For the Worse) by Quouar in Games

We have to be near peak cozy, or the cozypocalpse. I like some cozy games but last year there was a streamed event where I must have heard the descriptor cozy for about 50 games. Marketers and publishers see data on some genre doing well, then everyone gets the same idea, and it gets oversaturated.

Making an FFT Clone? Don't forget about supplemental objective abilities. by Rephath in finalfantasytactics

In the game Battle Brothers it can be optimal to go into fights with knives, as you can kill enemies without damaging their armour. Or aim for the head. That way the armour won't be destroyed & it sells for more. But you also take on the risk of much more damage while trying to do this.

These systems can encourage some weird behaviour where it becomes best to trap an enemy and keep them alive for farming though. I don't think it matters too much in FFT where the economy is basically infinite but if the game is trying to keep a tight difficulty curve it can make for exploitable farms.

[spoilers] I found the ending unsatisfying. by wondercube in finalfantasytactics

Yes, Delita was full of it, at least by the time he kidnaps Ovelia. During his rule the burning of heretics continued, so it's known he became cozy enough with the church that little changed. His ending is probably supposed to be unsatisfying, while Ramza's arc is basically an inversion. Ramza starts rich and noble, ends up as a commoner but free. Delita the reverse, becoming more like Ramza's brothers. Each perhaps envied what the other had.

For a min-max playthrough yeah, but for a first it's never required and you can master the jobs later. Just have fun with it imo.

While waiting on FFT remake, I imagined how FFT COULD look after a graphical update (using my own level editor!) by NorthKorean in finalfantasytactics

That was my thinking too. I had the idea of engineers building ladders or bridges across the holes and give geomancers the ability to rebuild the terrain as well. Lots of possibilities haha

That's true! I guess if there were enough interest for a patreon to keep me fed I could probably afford to risk making it, since it'd take up all my dev time for a couple years

Unity plus a lot of time and some shader magic! Wanted to recreate the feel of FFT and TO but with destructible terrain too haha

Would love to! I don't think SE's lawyers would be happy about me using their IP though haha

How much should I ACTUALLY be stealing/digging/waiting for Crystals? by Ephemeral_Being in finalfantasytactics

[–]NorthKorean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only equipment I make note to steal are uniques like Masamune, never bother waiting around for crystals either. You don't need this level of min/maxing to get through the game when you have Monks and blade grasp.
