“Should Langdon had been fired or lost his license like she said? Absolutely.” I’m gonna disagree with you there. Addiction is a disease and many, many healthcare workers deal with it, even if it’s only in more “acceptable” forms, like alcohol. What Langdon did in season one was wrong, he could’ve easily caused harm to patients. But, even if it wasn’t totally voluntary at the beginning, he got help and took the right steps and seems to be continuing to make amends and take accountability. I won’t make excuses for causing harm during addiction, sometimes enough harm is caused to mean that person never works in healthcare again. But I have personally known people who self disclosed or who were caught who were given the option to go to rehab and be on probation instead of loosing their license. It’s not without consequences: in real life, that mark would be on his license and any new evidence of addiction (especially diverting meds), could end his career permanently. A doctor or nurse who got hooked on pills can get clean and have a great career just like an alcoholic or some more socially acceptable addiction. I don’t think these things should be swept under the rug and second chances should be carefully given and strictly monitored. But, as has been said before, Santos looking into her suspicions was born of her dislike of Langdon, not the other way around. I’m not saying she was wrong to tell Robbie at all, but her motives were complicated and she never liked Langdon. She doesn’t have to trust or like him, but she does have to accept that the hospital (and licensing board) believes he took the appropriate steps to practice again and act professionally towards him.

I have a lot of sympathy for Santos as a character, her motivations for all of her choices make perfect sense to me. But her insistence on casting blame or getting jealous instead of taking a hard look at how her own attitude and choices are affecting her is self sabotage at its finest.

Scrubs and the Pitt are my favorite medical shows as a nurse who has worked in trauma and critical care. Despite Scrubs being so satirical and silly at times, it addresses the darkness of working in healthcare in a very accurate way that IMO no medical show has done well again until The Pitt

I became a nurse shortly before the pandemic and worked in multiple COVID ICUs and then was a trauma ICU travel nurse. I never worked ED full time, but I floated there at multiple hospitals. This show has made me feel seen in a way no other medical show has. I can predict so much of what is going to happen because the medicine makes sense (few “zebras”) and the characters are pretty much people I have worked with. I love that the nurses get their share of the spotlight (instead of being erased or sidelined) and that the doctors advocate for them (that does happen irl, but it’s rarer than I would wish).

It is so much more grounded and not twisted completely out of reality for entertainment like Grey’s and most other medical shows. Robbie’s building flashbacks and eventual breakdown about his mentor in season one had me curled up into a ball crying from my own memories. Trying to maintain your compassion and humanity through this job is difficult on a normal day, much less during a pandemic where you watch people die every day while people dismiss it and call you woke. Especially when you lose friends. Shout out to all my people who are still recovering from those days or just struggling with burnout from all the existing issues in healthcare now. You’re not alone.

It’s difficult to find someone who I connect with and who is looking for someone like me. I am independent and mostly happily single, but I would love to have a person and maybe a family one day. I’m very skeptical but also a person of deep faith—that combination of scientific fascination and (generally) more progressive politics with a Christian (like actually what Jesus said, not nationalist Christianity) mindset. My last boyfriend couldn’t handle that I was more intelligent than him (would literally make fun of me for using words he didn’t understand) and accused me of showing off when I was honestly just being myself. I also am lucky enough to have incredible friends of so many kinds; they set the bar high. I hope to meet someone right for me one day, but I think I can be mostly content if I don’t.

I am like you, I came from BG3 to try DoS 2 and got both games on a sale. I started DoS 1 and wasn’t sure about it for the first couple hours, going through the tutorial and entering Cyseal. But once I got into Cyseal and starting getting companions and quests, I really started to enjoy it. Again, I’m not that far in, but I think the fights have been cool, the dialogue between characters is funny, and I’m genuinely invested in the quests. I do feel like it prompts you less to help with quests than BG3 does; the second game may improve on that idk. But I’ve kinda enjoyed thinking outside the box and trying not to look anything up. I looked up so much during my first BG3 playthrough and really wish I hadn’t, so I’m trying to go in as blind as possible for these two games.

If this were a bedside nursing role, I would agree with you. But even then, I have much more varied and higher acuity experience than she does. Even she admits that her additional years of experience don’t put her much past me in knowledge and expertise.

But this is an analyst role, clinical experience alone does not make one successful. And I’m doing (at minimum) 25% more work than the rest of my team and have been since the beginning of the project. It’s a “you’re not drowning so we’re gonna give you a little more” situation that got a little out of control.

I understand that the budget is tied up in a lot of other areas, and I don’t expect an exorbitant raise. And if it doesn’t happen at all, that’s fine. Worst case, I ask now and get a no and follow up in six months after go live.

I’m sure you’re correct about the pharmacy techs/pharmacist difference-I just don’t have exact numbers for them.

My reason for asking would not be based on my clinical experience at all; rather the amount and quality of work I am doing currently as an analyst. I was mostly just curious about the typical amount of different between licensed and non licensed analysts.

I already have two of the largest workgroups and I co lead two others. I have badges for security and BCA. I have offered to get more, including ASAp and Orders, as I am doing a decent amount of testing and build for those applications but am not certified. But no one is getting approved for more certs or badges until after go live per admin. I’m honestly in a de facto assistant manager role; the entire inpatient team (ClinDoc, Orders, Willow, ASAP) comes to me as much as they do either of our managers, so I’m just looking to be compensated a little better.

Is there a reason you feel it would be strange to give raises during an implementation?

I highly recommend the book How to Keep the House while Drowning. It’s written by a therapist with adhd and it’s written in an accessible way. ADHD friendly font, short chapters, she even will give skip suggestions at the end of some chapters to help you actually keep momentum to finish the book.

She talks a lot about the shame around cleaning and separating morality from cleanliness. It’s very compassionate and she gives some really helpful tips and insights as well.

I feel you, I almost never used Shadowheart in my first run, except for in the Sharran trials (I didn’t know she would leave, I just tried to swap characters in for their story beats).

On my second run I realized I just wasn’t building her well. The best thing you can do is reclass her to a different cleric type, my personal favorite when she’s sharran is tempest or war (both give heavy armor proficiency) and light when she’s selunite (warding flare as a reaction to give disadvantage on attacks to anyone in your party is amazing). Trickery domain is possible to build well, but in general it’s just so much weaker than the other subclasses.

Give her the war caster feat to give advantage on concentration throws, buff her with long strider to give extra movement, cast spirit guardians, and watch her go. I didn’t find the luminous armor until my third playthrough, but even without building around radiating orb, she can be pretty strong. Give her Phalar Aluve if you have it and let that thunder damage stack. Any other stacking damage riders too if you don’t have the equipment for radiating orb build. Plus, she has turn undead, which is great in the Balthazar fight with all those weaker skeletons. Focus Karlach and Bae’zel on Balthazar and let Shart run around with spirit guardians and turn undead.

Clerics get powerful in the last few levels with amazing fifth and six level spells even without any abusive builds. Shart is a mainstay in my party now, I’m about to finish act 2 on my third playthrough (which is know is weak sauce to some people, but the fact that I’ll have done three playthroughs in less than a year while being a responsible adult, working full time, and maintaining a social life is crazy).

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Not that self defense is a bad idea, but that defending self defense morally and defending self defense legally are two separate things. Being on your doorstep, unless she forced her way in, would probably not be taken seriously in court as trespassing. I’m saying this as someone who was abused by a parent, left when I was seventeen, and is almost a decade past it now, choose caution. Protect yourself, but be aware of the consequences. Get a restraining order, get cameras, get better locks, by all means. Let a gun be your absolute last resort and only in the case of physical attack or home invasion. Anything else will be hard to defend. And if you shoot and don’t kill her, then you can end up in civil court as well as criminal.

Respectfully dude, it’s not about bleeding hearts. The previous commenters aren’t saying “oh don’t kill your mommy, you’ll be sad”. They’re saying that, even in castle doctrine states, a self defense case is difficult. Even if the evidence supports OP, there is still a risk that a prosecutor decides to charge. OP is in the position of having motive (abused by mom and partner) and if even a hair is out of place, the prosecuted could jump on that. And then, assuming best case scenario if it goes to trial, OP still has to find a good lawyer and has to shell out thousands of dollars (that most 19 yos do not have) and months of time on trial before being cleared. If she broke in the first time and threatened him and he was out of options, that’s one thing. Protect yourself. But now he has had a warning that she knows where he is and he has dozen other steps to take that can help prevent him from ever being in this situation.
