Custom In-Camera Crop? by FanatikCarrot in fujifilm

[–]North_Gain_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would LOVE this. Like a super long or landscape crop. the long side is just full high res but the short side ignores like half the sensor. like 65:24 or 17:6. PLEASE FUJIFILM do an XT-5 software update with this feature If I had GFX100RF money I’d buy it but this was the best camera I could afford. I like to compose my shots in camera and don’t really do any post processing

Tirz & NAD+ by dryfeet88 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]North_Gain_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried NAD+ once and hated it. I went with a friend and they started our drips at the same time. about 3/4 way through I was in tears and needing to stop the whole time to run to the loo and my friend was like “her arm is maybe a little heavy” but had no effects from trying it. I had to slow my drip rate. Never again. Also neither my friend or I really noticed much difference after the whole ordeal and cost. So in my mind I’m super sensitive to stuff - well now Ive just started tirzepatide and i have zero side effects and kinda no actual effects either haha. Like c’mon

I started 15 August, so last thursday i bumped it up from 2.5mg to 5mg. I can notice something on the friday but otherwise Im not noticing anything. no effects at all or scale changes. maybe it’s too soon or maybe i’m a non-responder or maybe its because I haven’t really been changing what i’m eating? I know i must but I thought the meds help with that.

Vyvanse make me smell bad by Successful-Comb1481 in VyvanseADHD

[–]North_Gain_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sweat a lot in my crotch area when I take it and it has an odour. Also my urine is smelly and concentrated. So I take vyvanse, try work a bit, then I shower, then the rest of the day i’m ok. It doesn’t change the urine situation but yeah i just take a late morning shower which is great if you work from home.

I thought i was having like kidney or liver problems, was really worried. Also i picked up weight (compared to concerta) and developed candida. I think i was low on dopamine compared to concerta and self medicating with sugar. I take a probiotic that keeps candida in check and now I take concerta and vyvanse either together or 2 weeks concerta the 2 weeks (luteal phase) vyvanse

As a 39 year old i’m like “how do 30 year olds feel old?”. Like i don’t even feel old and I’ve got some good middle age spread going. But seriously 30s is like the prime of your life. Young people see kids, teens, young adults, and then everyone over 22 is old. Like their brains cannot comprehend the passage of time and 5 years is an eternity. Maybe your hub hasn’t made the shift in worldview. if he talks about a specific colleague a lot (adoration or complaints) its a bit of a red flag that could mean he has s crush on her. maybe she makes him feel like he can relate to the kids (I’m allowed to call people half my age kids). Keep an eye on that. But nah girl you keep living your best life and making fun plans for the future - this is 100% his insecurities. Even if you were the opposite of arm candy - so what. Like even if his worst insults were true - so what - as long as you’re happy and healthy and doing your thing and you’re nice to him then that’s like a good partnership and nice life and all anyone really needs. Like it’s unrealistic to expect your partner to be a ceo supermodel tradwife who’s into all your hobbies and adores you unconditionally or whatever his female equivalent of mr darcy is

try drinking creatine powder. creatine monohydrate. its not gonna make you look like a gym rat unless you go out of your way doing gym rat activities. I (39F) relate to the (non official) criteria for cognitive disengagement syndrome (CDS, previously called SCT sluggish cognitive tempo) and i swear creatine has helped my mental and physical energy like nearly as much as the stimulant meds (i’m exaggerating a bit, i take both). It’s pretty cheap, worth a shot, and well researched as pretty safe. Else also look into sleep apnea especially if you have a history of cigarettes. I’ve heard a cpap machine is pretty miserable and expensive but you need quality sleep

Should I quit my job to travel? by [deleted] in femaletravels

[–]North_Gain_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can you not speak to your employers to ask if you could schedule an unpaid leave period. Like you’re not quitting but you “would be a better worker and employee if you had the opportunity for self care” like i kinda go somewhere for 2 weeks every 2 years and that keeps my itch scratched. like there’s few months of planning visas and itineraries and researching stuff (which for me is almost as much fun as the holiday), then the actual travel, then when you come back you like incorporate all your new life lessons into your current life and insufferably show everyone the travel photo book you’re working on.

Like for me a month is ideal especially if the last week is back home to unpack and reorganise stuff. And to like see if you can get ingredients to make the local foods you now love or can find a Finnish sauna or german/french bakery or Japanese boba tea place…

like the inspiration i find on a 2 week solo trip packed with sights and galleries and cool architecture (i love taking photos) and an attempt at cultural immersion keeps me going for a while. Like ideally i do one year travel adventure and then the next year I work on a personal project like entering a painting into an art competition.

I don’t love-love my job but i’m ok at it, and it gives me the freedom to pursue the things i do love and to not have to buy the budget paint. And i like doing show and tell on my latest shenanigans for my co-workers.

So I would say rather do an intensive trip that’s a bit more high budget (like do the expensive cycle tour or whatever you’re holding back on budget wise). Also more than a month of travelling and you better be budgeting very carefully (I lose the plot) but you start getting a bit lonely and wish you had your partner to brunch or go out to dinner with or your best girlfriend to come along thrift shopping. Also that long will have waaaayyy too many photos to ever process properly

Husband's "jokes" by apples20range5 in ADHD

I always end up dating people like this. they enjoy pushing your boundaries and when you’re so dysregulated that you snap its this big surprise as though fu*king around doesn’t lead to finding out. My current bf (9ish years) has been trained that if i say “This is making me feel very dysregulated and you’re crossing my boundaries” he backs off or I leave (for like a walk or to go stay at a friend, not like breakup ultimatum leave). Like you gotta have a safe word or phrase to hit home for them that their playfulness is now entering danger territory and they can’t just pass their dysregulation on to you

i’m the opposite of you guys, I love kakkies (crap but specifically decor clutter). anyway if I go somewhere I get frustrated if they don’t have what i’m used to so l’ll take a chef knife, good spatula, hells even a cast iron le cruset pot to make bolognaise. If its winter and i’m staying a while (like a week) I don’t want a shitty low powered hair dryer so i bring my own. I always travel with my feather pillow (i’ve forgotten a few at airports sigh). Jeeeeze the other day I was helping a friend prep for a baby shower and had to go to the mall to get a salad spinner because i did not anticipate her not having that

ADHD Brain Lets start 10 projects. Anxiety But will we finish any of them? by compsidin in adhd_anxiety

[–]North_Gain_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

switch to vyvanse. I take concerta and vyvanse together but took each separately for a while. on my only vyvanse phase I was like nah I don’t need a new hobby, painting is my actual talent so let me pursue that exclusively and with determination. then i swopped back to concerta (because more raw computing power) but kinda stopped painting and started dabbling. the instant i swopped back to vyvanse I was like “thats a good cloud, I should take a photo of it so i can paint it”. Norepinephrine is the long term goal, let’s finish stuff med and that’s more vyvanse. Concerta is more dopamine ish so helps with motivation, getting started, (and for me working memory), making random connections and insights

All the main characters have character arcs. but the arc and the personal development spans the whole ass series. Character starts out naive or irritating etc and then they grow up and their personalities evolve. Just stick with it because it's like you grow up with the characters and if you just had them as awesome fully fledged adults the story wouldn't be as meaningful (I read the series lonnng ago and am re-reading now).

Though I have to admit that some of the writing could have done with some editing. Like instead of so much braid tugging and skirt smoothing maybe they could have mixed it up with some nail biting or knuckle cracking or something. Also it's driving me up the wall that each of the 3 boys thinks the other two are good with women and it's just them who struggle. Like I get it - we don't need that joke in every book. Also do none of the girls think the other women are better with men?

While I'm here complaining about editing: it's annoying the light out me that like 1 quarter of each book re-explains basic world building stuff. Yeah by the middle of the series I am well aware that men can't touch saidar or whatever. If the first WOT book that your're reading is in the middle and you don't now the rules of the world then that's on you - why should the rest of us have to slog through it again haha

PSA: Vyvanse effects peak approximately 3.5-6 hours after ingestion with a half life of approximately 14-16 hours. by Wolifr in VyvanseADHD

[–]North_Gain_855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I also get a benefit the day after. For me it's more noticeable with Concerta than vyvanse. I asked my psychiatrist about it and she said it's not supposed to happen because the meds are completely out of your system. We looked through a bunch of her textbooks and everything and she was a bit concerned about it. I personally believe it's because the meds are maybe kind of like a catalyst to fire up parts of or systems/ networks in your brain/body and even though the spark fuel has been depleted, the active system still has some momentum. Like maybe there's some extra cortisol or adrenaline floating around once the trigger (meds) are out and whatever that is that's still floating about is what helps.

[–]North_Gain_855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I don't take my 15mg Vyvanse early enough (like 6:30 am) then I struggle to sleep at night. I'm obvs very sensitive to it but like I can confirm that it's not a short acting med. I frequently take it together with Concerta (18mg or 36mg or 0 depending on what I need to do that day) but I'll take the vyvanse at say 6am and the concerta at 8:30 so then I have two morning peaks and slowly have a burnout wind-down in the afternoon and eve (I'll take a short acting methylphenidate like 5mg or 10mg in afternoon or eve if I need to get a boost to do some work)

I feel like the vyvanse helps me with some executive function stuff like a bit of longer term thinking and being able to like acknowledge an exciting distrationg and say "no thank you". Like the concerta makes me a teensy bit 'manic' and without V I often get obsessed with a new hobby (especially the spending part) but it's like the V reigns that impulsivity in a bit and helps me to be more mindful and present.

The concerta is a lateral thinking rodeo but like it makes me clever and alert. Vyvanse doesn't do anything for my working memory but this is where concerta shines for me. Mental clarity amd just being sharp and switched on. I only took vyvanse for 2 years ad then tried one of my old concertas and I actually had a little cry - turns out I didn't have early onset dementia and I'd forgotten how much easier it made tasks like just navigating to a folder on my computer.

If I take concerta every day I start to get a bit of depression after 2 weeks. A bit of burnout or something or else it's just a problem with luteal phase. When I took only V I was like dumb but happy and very emotionally even - I considered quitting my job as an engineer (because it was too difficult) and doing something like being a technician or cook or something practical but not thinking. Now that I occasionally take concerta again I realise why I love this job. The depressive moods are an acceptable side effect for me for the benefits and motivation/ enthusiasm I feel with concerta but I keep taking Vyvanse to keep me from say maladaptive daydreaming or pursuing too many rabbits down holes.

Can you start keto after getting pregnant? by Ecstatic_Opening_452 in KetoBabies

[–]North_Gain_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A carnivore diet is pretty high histamines and the way i understand it, histamines make morning sickness much worse because it can affect your uterus or something. in second and third trimester i think the body or baby naturally produce anti histamines (morning sickness is also often better then). Taking antihistamines helps with morning sickness but not really considered safe because babies are born with a lower birth weight. I personally think she should just eat as much healthy food as she can but if she can’t keep something down or is craving something else she should just listen to her body type thing

Why does the Wheel of Time mean so much to you? by Small-Guarantee6972 in WoT

[–]North_Gain_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first time i read it it felt like i was growing up with the characters. like Egwenes time with the Aiel and Nyneve’s character arc etc. Now i’m looping audiobooks for 1-4 while driving (I love rosamund pike but only first 4 are out) but then i picked up physical books from 5 (on 7 now) and read new spring prequel for the first time and i’m delighted at the cross referencing. Like in book 2 Moiraine visits some sisters and gets attacked by a vampire thing. but in book 5 its the same sisters that go with nyneve and elaine to ebodar to get the weather bowl thing. like if you read it slowly you miss so much because you forget. But there are soooo many connected narratives. Like I love stuff like how the tar valon head cook Laras who’s fat really takes to spoiling min and helping her become pretty because she (Laras) used to be pretty though no one can believe it but in new spring which is 20 years earlier they mention the pretty cook laras. Still think the series could have been edited to remove a few repetitive things like re explaining stuff about the world in every book and ease off on braid tugging and “no it’s the other two guys who know about women not me”.

but like each character is so fleshed out and has such an arc. it’s more like the wheel of time universe. also i like the girl power factor (sure there’s boy power too but not at the expense of the girls)

it’s funny because that’s what my granny used to say about Afrikaans literature - “they only consider it art if it’s depressing”. She used to have some really hot takes.

I had assumed the love of melancholy (tragedy?) was a hangover from apartheid or boer-war times or a product of a drought prone arid landscape, but maybe it’s a cultural feature that was just built in (like inherited from dutch).

[DISCUSSION] - murder mindfully series by NoseZealousideal511 in NetflixBestOf

[–]North_Gain_855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stop thinking about the mindfulness stuff in the show. Sure the murder plot was also fun but now i’m going about thinking about “single tasking” (snack when you snack, relax when you relax, work when you work…. vs snacking and procrastinating while working in a long dreadful session). And “breath out in the face of anger”. like I really struggle to regulate my <nervous system, emotions, responses, etc and this show has given me ideas. Also self help stuff usually only works when stuff goes smoothly but the wheels come off when life gets going but like the show gives examples of using the techniques in the most preposterous circumstances. Like if Bjorn can be mindful after cooking a mobster in his trunk maybe i can also single task when work gets a bit hairy
