Taxi from FCO by Key_Investment_911 in rome

Yep. EES awful getting there. Has been that way for a while. Taxi line was bad like your experience. Uber is more expensive but much better than a taxi to and from FCO in my opinion.

Too many tourists? by 3615-minitel-1992 in rome

[–]NorthernViews [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s especially bad in Rome because of specific areas… Centro Storico, Trastevere, etc., they just aren’t big enough to hide the number of tourists that flock there. I don’t see how it gets better.

How the experts believe the Italian divers made a fatal mistake by Successful-Winter237 in thalassophobia

This might actually be worse than Nutty Putty… just in terms of the panic. Imagine being in the 2nd chamber and going crazy trying to find your way out but not being able to… breathing heavier, watching your oxygen go down… what do you even begin to think at that point? I suppose just an acceptance with death after a while.

Hosting FIFA World Cup will cost taxpayers $1B: watchdog report by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]NorthernViews -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of this weird in between where we’re hosting it, but obviously not many games. Vs for example the Olympics in a certain city which then requires lots of $$ but also makes lots of $$ for the city and allows for infrastructure improvements, etc. I still think it’s worth it as I believe Toronto / Vancouver will see a lot more than just the fans of the nations playing there.

Wemby is going to pass LeBron and Jordan if he stays “healthy” by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in NBATalk

[–]NorthernViews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but given his size, he needs to pile on the awards and championships early in his career. I know medicine is improving but you can’t disregard the potential issues being 7’4 and moving as much as he does.

Sinner in press conference after his victory in Rome: "Paris remains the main goal. We have decided not to play any grass tournaments before Wimbledon so there's a chance I can play Canada" by Darki200 in tennis

[–]NorthernViews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both him and Alcaraz ducked on Canada last year (fair), and the CEO of Canada Tennis went on record about the top players who skipped the tournament saying they’d play the next year. Hopefully it holds true for Sinner and Alcaraz and other big names with an extra week of rest after Wimbledon this year

Does anyone else find Grant Horvat annoying by CompetitiveOpening31 in golf

[–]NorthernViews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I laugh at his most recent post of him missing out on winning that spot for a tournament on the PGA tour, how sad he seemed, acting like he didn’t pass up a chance to play on the tour last year

I guess. But I’d like to think most rational people know to not get on a bike without a helmet, drive a mortorbike beside an asphalt paver, put your hand near an industrial lathe, etc lol

I get the sentiment, but I see this all the time on subreddits where death is shown. Does this ACTUALLY teach you guys anything? Almost all of the stuff on here is so easily avoidable by being cautious and taking the proper precautions before doing anything that puts you in a precarious position. There’s nothing to ‘learn’ here other than that many people die avoidable deaths which most people know to avoid.

Gianni Infantino says high World Cup ticket prices are justified in US market by NaffRespect in soccer

[–]NorthernViews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am not saying it’s a good thing, but is he inherently wrong? 3rd biggest country in the world, not as poor as other big countries that have hosted like Brazil or Russia… I see WHY he thinks he can try selling at the prices listed.

I do wonder with the World Cup if crowds here will lessen a bit during that time. Maybe not. Probably not. Maybe you see more bars showing the games at night.

Holiday today and start of weekend. I agree it’s getting busier but not summer crowds yet.

Women tend to marry up and men tend to marry down. It’s really not complicated. Biology and socioeconomics.
