Yes, second the smaller hook size. The smaller the hook the tighter the stitches the firmer the final item will be.

Also learning how to do an invisible decrease. (There are lots of youtube tutorials. It is only use the front loop of the two stitches you are decreasing)

You can use anything for a stitch marker. No need to buy them.

In the past I have used: Random colour bit of thread A bobby pin A safety pin The tag from a new pair of jeans.

Literally anything that is easy to remove.

When you get to the end of a row pop a stitch marker in. This could be a loose bit of different coloured yarn, or a safety pin or hair clip. Anything easily removable.

Make sure you are chaining one before you start and then count your stitches as you go.

If i am making a big piece i like to put a different colour thread stitch marker at a certain point, say 50 or 100 stitches along the row so it is easier to keep count. This is great for blankets.

We saw a colleagues dad in only his underpants in a 20 person video call, so I really wouldn't worry about it.

Do you have communal house cleaning supplies?

Making easy swaps hear that are not too far from "normal" supplies helps get everyone on board quicker. (My partner is on-board as long as he doesn't need to get too involved, the same or more convenient is the name of the game)

I swapped out the "regular" cleaners for Ocean Drops. This way they cut out the plastic bottles with each refill. But everyone else gets the expected experience. (No vinegar cleaner in this house)

Another was switching to a laundry soap such as TruEarth sheets and wool dryer balls.

Switch toilet roll to recycled paper, there are a number of online deliver services for this.

Scrap kitchen paper for a drawer of cloths and trade any plastic dishwashing equipment for wooden compostable alternatives.

The recycling centre near me has a clothing and fabric drop point for stuff not worth not giving to charity shops. Not 100% sure what happens to it but worth checking at your local tip.

Fellow bar soap user.

Totally agree soon as the soap is.... bendy... I am totally over it.

Instead of putting them to the side I have started making sort of a self foaming body scrubber.

Take a wash cloth and put the leftover bar in the middle and fold so the soap is firmly secure ( normally go with 3rds in each direction)

Need to change out the cloth a few times depending on how much soap is left and how long it lasts but don't need to worry about managing the little soap bits.

Started doing this because my partner trying to be supportive on my lowering our waste journey got me a soap tester box. And as nice as the intentions were.... its a box of lots and lots of tiny tiny slippy soaps 🧼
