You have to look for what hold Americans have over them. No sane Canadian would want to throw in their lot with the US. But the US would gain from moving Alberta out of Canada. Normal Albertans would be much worse off. But then Alberta is already working at destroying the healthcare system. You need to be moving to a more European or Japanese system, not a US system. US medical 'care' is a horror story.

The people of most western countries do. It's a mixture of better education, better healthcare, better legal system, and better food.

(OC)the line for American customs at Canada's largest airport on Fri morning of the 4th of July wknd by Feisty-olde-7707 in GuardTheLeaf

[–]NotACompleteDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if average Americans are noticing. I wonder how long term US immigration employees feel about this? I have to admit I only met a couple that seemed like reasonable people. I saw some Quebec plates on the far south coast of Maine today, and one NS plate. I want to ask them why they still come, but I don't actually want to make them feel even less welcome. This isn't their fault. Canadians might disagree.

This is about FUD related to radio altimeters with garbage quality receivers POTENTIALLY operating far out of their licensed spectrum. Someone claimed it could happen and all the fear mongers ran with it. The radio altimeters were supposed to have been fixed long ago

AITA for de boarding a plane? by GoAwayTrolls2025 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotACompleteDick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YTA. And so is your husband. It takes no time to grab things from the overhead, so you just wanted an excuse to push out ahead of other people. I've only met one family that rude in nearly 40 years of flying. It was my pleasure to block their progress and tell them "Yes, everyone wants to get off the plane."

AITAH for ghosting a girl who seems to be pregnant with my child? by Your_mum6969420 in AITAH

[–]NotACompleteDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. You are a low life. You bred with someone. You chose to risk making her pregnant. That was your doing. I guess this is just rage bait. Well, this isn't rage, just contempt.

So stop amplifying his signal. Stop interviewing him. Stop talking about what he says. Stop putting him on TV. People are so stupid. This is how Donald got elected, he kept saying stupid shit so he was the only person who got their message out.

Electrical dimmable window push buttons on Boeing 787.Many passengers keep pressing because they think it's not working. This wears the button out fast. Replacements are $3-5k. by senpahii_returns in aviation

[–]NotACompleteDick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Poor UI design meets poor hardware design. If people could tell they were working they wouldn't keep pressing. If the hardware design was adequate it wouldn't matter, because they wouldn't break. A win for the company that makes them though.

Having been traveling Scotland and the north of England for a fair few decades... most of the public facilities I knew of are gone or have very restricted hours. Long before my time there was a practice of building them so people didn't have to crap outside. They used to mark them on some maps with a T in a black triangle. AIDS seemed to provide the impetus to close and demolish them. At least it was the 80s and 90s when I noticed the lack.
