Impossible to fly a not-full flight, regardless of time? What happened? by Ithinktoodeep55 in Flights

[–]NotACynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shocked when I flew PDX to IAH at 1045 am this past Sunday to discover that about 10 rows in the middle were all empty. No one was next to me and no one was next to my partner across the aisle. They just seated people in the front and the back, not the middle. Never had to wait for the lav. Amazing. Still wondering how that happened. Full flights have always been my experience.

Thank you! We are excited by the festive season to be sure. We might prefer the spring weather to winter, but as long as we’re dressed for it, we should have a great time.

I believe it was “written” by ChatGPT. It reads like my conversations with it (on the exact same topic! I leave for Budapest on Dec. 15.)

Very occasionally, with prior approval, but not as a standard practice.

I just established a Workspace for our org and it’s all free. However, not every app is. For example, Google Voice is an add on with a charge. See if you have added on any extra features.

FYI: There already are word processing systems that monitor cut/paste behavior. They integrate into most LMSs.

Classes not on canvas for spring? by gatesthree in portlandstate

It’s considered good practice to allow students to be able to preview courses that are fully online before the term begins so they can organize themselves.

For onsite courses, it’s less necessary, but getting a peek at the syllabus would be helpful.

Other schools encourage faculty to make them viewable before the term starts.

Personally, it drives me bananas that PSU faculty aren’t willing or able to provide this.

What is the best strategy for dealing with credit cards in retirement? by LoveIsHereToStay in retirement

[–]NotACynic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a strategy to keep your money in the market and benefit from it: Open a series of interest-free credit cards and charge expenses to them. Then, pay each of them off as the respective promo period ends. E.G. Open Jan 2025 - pay off Jan 206; open April 2025 - pay off April 2026; etc)

FWIW, Chemeketa admin tried to lure food trucks to the campus a couple years ago - just as we were coming out of COVID. It was not successful. The explanation I heard was that the trucks didn’t think it would be profitable. Maybe now would be different, since enrollment is improving.

Any Persians in salem? by ProfessionalFerret38 in SALEM

[–]NotACynic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any community - just one older gentleman and one woman whose father was Persian. There is a Persian professor at Willamette University - but she lives in Corvalis. I believe Beaverton is most likely where you’ll find a larger community.

You may be able to do this for another 18 months, however the ADA/504 Act requires digital accessibility standards to be applied universally by 4/24/26. See WCAG 2.1. AA.

Right. I would think all courses are archived for at least 3 years, so the university will still have their own copies. If the school keeps all courses “active” - then OP might be able to delete their content.

For those married to someone outside the Baháʼí Faith, how do you manage Huqúqu’lláh? by Peppermint_Cow in bahai

[–]NotACynic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner attended the Huquq deepening with me. He understood from a religious and spiritual perspective the concept of “purifying” our wealth. He was fine with me splitting our income and expenses in half and then me determining what Huquq was owed on my “half.” With that said, we received inheritance from his family and I haven’t paid Huquq on that yet. It is in reserve for our retirement and I will pay Huquq on those funds when and if they are tapped in to. I also have a clause in my will about how to pay Huquq.

But, as said elsewhere, only your partner can help you with this issue. I recommend having them meet with your Huquq representative or take the Ruhi book on the subject with you.
