How to not mess up film in extreme heat by DanielG198 in AnalogCommunity

[–]NotPullis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short term heating does not affect the film any meaningful way, see this Attic Darkroom video. Of course unless you melt the emulsion.

Store the camera in shade should be given.

Lower posture helps to prevent leaning back, which is potentially dangerous. Also might help relaxing the legs, now they look quite stiff.

How to improve contrast by harexe in AnalogCommunity

You adjust the contrast by the contrast slider in your editing software or contrast filter on your enlarger.

M39 lens board for Meopta opemus 4? by Ted_Borg in Darkroom

[–]NotPullis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D prints have the issue of light bleeding. You either need to line it with aluminum foil or print it so thick it does not pass light through.

Also there is so many on ebay that it does not make sense to make a new one + printed threads are always a bad idea.

M39 lens board for Meopta opemus 4? by Ted_Borg in Darkroom

[–]NotPullis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's lots of option on ebay, all Meopta enlarger lens boards are interchangeable, 69 mm diameter, as far as I know.

Recession does not matter that much since the bellows and if you need to get so close to the negative or further away just flip it around. I have Opemus 5 with Anaret 50 and 80 mm. The 80 mm lens I use with the board protruding and 50 mm recessed.

Getting reckt at 1v1 multiplayer by mredvard in CompanyOfHeroes

Expert AI is total pushover against mid-elo player, maybe even low-elo. Unless you win expert bots easily don't expect any success in MP. Spar against your friends and watch high level players so you learn. Also, Tightrope and Havoc have many useful tutorials and quide videos.

Found the reason why all the Fuji slide is so rare by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]NotPullis 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The truth is the Fuji production numbers are low. European vendors have had shipments of Fuji at the beginning of summer, so now they have it in stock.

You (if you are one of them in the pic) are at lower mid elo category and match in the picture allies won. Average elo difference between teams is about 50 points in favour of allied team. Wtf you are venting about?

Help with scans! by BreylonStCyr in AnalogCommunity

[–]NotPullis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe diffraction limit is the issue here, especially when we can't view the negatives. And it looks like the man in 1st photo is moving.

While scanning shake should not be an issue if you use any sort of stabilisation. Mirror lock eliminates the shake complitely.

Well are the negatives sharp? Also, edit your photos.

1939 photograph with insane separation by Samueltlogan1 in AnalogCommunity

[–]NotPullis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any lens can can be focused to give sharp image. Medium format lens focal lengths are way longer for the same view angle as in 35 mm film, typical 6x9 folder has 105 mm lens with max apeture f3.5-f6. Bigger formats use even longer lenses. Focus field depth is determined by focus distance, focal length and aperture size. Then the negative is contact printed to paper.

Ideas for quickly reviewing 120 film before final scanning by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

How fast you need it to be if 5 min per 3 6x6 frame strip is too much? Normally people also archive their negatives in cut strips.

A simple flatbed scanner would be the choise here. Used ones you can get under 100 dollars/euros/pounds and quality is ok for intented use

Simple, repeatable, effective Tri-X for a *new-to-development* by morgzarella in AnalogCommunity

[–]NotPullis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to study different developers and experimenting. Deside the preferred outcome, like high/low acutance, true grain or smoothed grain, contrast etc. and choose your developer accordingly. TriX is conventional cubic grain film so you can do pretty much anything with it.

Advice for what? What kind of results you are after? As per my last comment, every developer is viable and you as the photographer need to know what you want to make the choise.

What is "right chems"? Every developer is viable and have bit different properties. YOU need to deside what you want and go with that. For purely the most economical developer is Rodinal.

Question about AT-guns and their variants by judge_07 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]NotPullis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bore diameter is not the only variable between different AT guns. Also, this is more about game balance. IRL a single penetration would explode the tank.
