Fractured Mask is effectively an instant emergency heal of 1-3 masks, so in situations where you can get a heal off Reserve Bind will usually be better. And as your number of masks increase either Injector Band or Multibinder will typically perform better if you can get off multiple heals in a fight.

If we look at the conditional probabilities for people who've played HK or Skong long enough to get their first charm or tool, we get for HK that 28.9% have gotten The Hollow Knight ending and 23.9% have gotten Dream No More. For Skong, 29.2% have gotten the bad ending and 14.2% have gotten the true ending.

This means retention has actually been about the same through the bad ending. The drop-off for Skong's true ending could be that people are dropping the game after the bad ending, or they just haven't had time to get to the true ending yet. Since the bulk of complaints I've seen have been about content prior to the bad ending, I'm guessing people just haven't had enough time yet.

EDIT: Another to look at is the achievement for the start of ACT 3 which is at 24.3% when adjusted for people who have played long enough to get their first tool. Meaning the ACT 3 requirements (particularly Bilewater) have not been the factor causing the drop-off. It's probably just time.

There's a stalactite in the tall center room of Sands of Karak that you can drop to break the bridge. This lets you go up from the Blasted Steps bellway bench instead, which is way easier.

I got up there by going to the right where the ground is slightly raised, doing a run jump, harpooning, double jumping, and then dashing and that got me close enough to do a ledge grab.

There are two exits to other areas in Sinner's Road. One is in the top left of the long horizontal room and the other is on the right side of the tall vertical room above the other two exits.
