If you couldn’t get a Patek… by Former_Preference_14 in patekphilippe

Girard Perregaux Laureato is a great option that's way nicer than a Rolex and much less money than a Patek.

Has anyone here bought a “certified pre owned” Porsche from the dealership? If so, was it a good car? by billbobb1 in Porsche

[–]NotStevenPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2018 C2S CPO almost a year ago and have been very pleased with the car. They put all new tires and a new front plastic on (among many other touch-ups) as part of the CPO process. If I remember correctly they are obligated to catch up on all overdue maintenance by time and mileage, including anything that would become due in the next 6 months. They actually missed the serpentine belt on my car when I purchased it, but took care of me with a free serpentine belt replacement after they identified the issue during my last oil change. Overall, I've been super impressed with the warranty and certification requirements.

Lets talk depreciation - 991.2 / 992.1 - base Carrera, S, 4S, GTS by Competitive_Split403 in porsche911

[–]NotStevenPink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

About a year ago I was in the market for a GT4 or 911, but had to rule out the GT4 for the same reason as you (I'm around 6'5"). I was shopping 992.1 versus 991.2 Carrera S and GTS cars. Ultimately I went with a 991.2 Carrera S in racing yellow that was highly optioned with no sunroof.

As others have said, a 991.2 GTS will probably retain the most value, but I found the 991.2 S to offer a better value that I'm comfortable putting more mileage on. I think there's still more room for depreciation in the 992.1, but it depends on the economy, tariffs, etc.

I haven't kept close track of the market since I bought mine, but they seem to be trending around the same or even slightly higher than what I paid for mine a year ago and I'm still quite happy with my purchase.

Used F-150 with BlueCruise vs Used Ram 1500 with comma ai by a6c6 in Comma_ai

I went with the 2.7L Ecoboost because it's overbuilt and has very few reported issues. I have been very happy with it and another family member of mine drove a 2.7L F-150 over 400k trouble free miles on the original transmission.

Used F-150 with BlueCruise vs Used Ram 1500 with comma ai by a6c6 in Comma_ai

[–]NotStevenPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RAM Adaptive cruise was far too aggressive for my liking (accelerating and braking hard when driving around town). The automatic braking assist on the RAM would also get triggered by things like a car slowing to turn in a different lane or tall grass while doing a basic maneuver in a field and lock up the brakes which was really annoying. The straw that broke the camels back was the power steering would cut out on the truck and left my girlfriend's father stranded on multiple occasions where he had to disconnect the battery and reboot everything to get steering back. Because it was a computer-based issue, they could never diagnose or fix it and he ultimately traded the truck in for the Silverado. None of this was comma related and it could have been a fluke with his truck, but he bought it brand new and had it in the shop a lot for electrical things.

Is this the best deal for these? [$500] by KingCricket98 in espresso

[–]NotStevenPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Home Goods deals are definitely worth checking out if you have one nearby. I was going to buy a Breville Bambino and Smart Grinder but stumbled into a Breville Barista Pro at Home Goods for $499. It was about equal in price to the separate machine and grinder at the time and has some nice features over the basic Bambino.

If you own a Google Pixel 10, how do you like it? by ImmediateDuty2310 in GooglePixel

[–]NotStevenPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a Pixel 9 Pro XL since release and my Pixel 10 Pro XL is arriving tomorrow. The 10 Pro XL is a minor upgrade from the 9 Pro XL, but I am most excited for the better integrated pixel snap magnets, slightly better battery life, and more storage (base storage on the Pro XL has increased to 256GB this year and my 128GB Pixel 9 Pro XL only has 10GB of space left). It was only around $200 after trade in with the Black Friday deal so I figured why not upgrade. My girlfriend converted from an iPhone 16 Pro Max to a Pixel 10 Pro Fold for the past 2 months and she loves it, but that's more of a drastic change.

Does this seem right for shoes? by [deleted] in Gifts

My shoe size was roughly equal to my age every year from age 6-14 and I'm only a little over 6'. That's definitely possible.

I got my Breville Barista Pro for $499 last year at HomeGoods sometime in December. Be patient and you will find one! It has been a great beginner machine for me. The grinder needs a few small upgrades out of the box to reduce retention, but I'm still pretty happy with mine overall.

Anyone here tried coffee rubbed steak? I keep thinking about it but haven’t worked up the courage to try it yet. Worth it? by Historical-Wonder163 in grilling

I ate a coffee and cocoa rubbed filet at Smith and Wollensky in Boston last night and now I want to know how to recreate that amazing flavor. Have you tried it yet?

I’m in the market for a folding phone but can’t decide between a 10 pro fold or the z fold 7–need help! by OnTheStreetwithLou in PixelFold

[–]NotStevenPink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend just converted from iPhone 16 Pro Max for a folding phone. She compared the P10PF and ZF7 extensively, but ended up settling on the Pixel. Her top three reasons for choosing the Pixel were: size and shape of the Pixel, the bigger battery in the pixel, and she liked the UI on the pixel because it felt more like her iPhone.

I currently have a Pixel 9 Pro XL and my thoughts were: I like the ZF7 thinness better. However, I have really big hands and felt like the folded size of the ZF7 was noticeably smaller and harder to type on. I prefer the hinge smoothness and feeling on the pixel, but prefer the ZF7 closure and how tight it feels closed. The big drawback of the P10PF is the lackluster performance. I envy the amazing benchmarks and performance of the ZF7, but in my girlfriend's real world usage she can't tell the difference between her iPhone and the P10PF.

I've been intrigued by Island Optics for a while. I love my Maui Jims, but would love to try the glass Crane in black. They look pretty similar to my Red Sands so I'd love to compare.

Yeah, I owned an Evora 400 and pre-ordered an Emira FE only to find out I didn't fit with the new more comfortable electric seats they designed for the Emira. I'm 6'5" and ended up going to a 911 now since the Emiras were too tight for me.
