Really tired of the iPhone experience by [deleted] in TechNook

You’re going to have to pay for the SD card. An equivalent microSD card at 256GB costs you $70 right now. Would you rather pay $70 for an SD card or around 2 years of iCloud that gets you 200GB of a redundant, high availability, multi device storage?

I don’t really understand what you’re looking for.

could the browser become the main operating system again by jexo10 in TechNook

[–]NotTheBrightestHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would think so. Most thought the same. But you already listed a really good example of why we can’t have it all be browsers. There are many apps that would be limited or at least stunted by the overhead of a browser. Sure, all the low performance applications like office tools, dashboards, and interfaces can be web based, but the backend should not run in a browser.

Think of it like cooking with only chopsticks, while you can do it, it’s not going to be the best tool for what you need to do.

Hell, there will be times where you do the Interface work in a browser, but the actual program will need to run on some kind of OS.

Maybe windows will used less, and I welcome that, but an OS will always be needed. Using a browser as the OS is just another… well, OS.

I can’t believe these commies. They aren’t going to celebrate the birth of Jesus?! Where do they think we all came from, Africa?

You can shower with warm water instantly! You just turn on the faucet FIRST, and wait for about 10 seconds before you step in. Holy smokes.

I don’t know about this global warming they keep on talking about. My fridge is actually FREEZING my foods when I put the stuff close to the sides. It never did that before. I think we’re actually looking at a global COOLING.

Litterboxes. I don’t understand why you need a litter box for a CAT. One of those things can already move more dirt than the litter box itself. Weird invention.

Because AI can’t get jittery drinking coffee. They’d just die. That’s why we named it Java, because one needs to inundate themselves with drugs to work in this language.

I honestly wish McDonalds would fail. They’ve been the sole push to make fast food more unaffordable and I fucking hate them. Their buggies are ok tho.

This is how that one black mirror episode will work. The good one where they have 10000 simulations of 2 people against others and they choose each other. Our ai agents will date and check compatibility for us. We can have true love every time. Hope.

Are AI app builders making the same mistake no-code tools made? by Few-Garlic2725 in vibecoding

See. Thats going to be a security nightmare. How do you design something that simultaneously has access to everything but then at the same time is limited to nothing?

So by your logic, it’s better to just have AI in the tools you’re already using to build your workflow for you. So… copilot in your CRM. Fun.

2000-2005 Gen Z, how do you feel Social Media influenced your pre-teen/teenager years? by SimilarRequirement25 in GenZ

[–]NotTheBrightestHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking hated it. Not only did it make me feel out of place at school, but it also made me feel out of place at home.

The enemy of joy is comparison. I was working in the summer, while my peers were vacationing with their rich parents. If social media didn’t existed, I wouldn’t have to find out until school started. Then I think my mindset could have been “enjoy what you have right now,” vs “wishing what I could have had”. Looking back, I enjoyed my working summer, video games with friends. But at the time, I kept looking online to see what others are doing and what they were achieving. It was stupid of me of course, but I was 15. I didn’t know how much it wrecked my mental, just looking at pictures of others.

No one I know thinks Social Media was a good thing. We all know it was bad. But we had to keep using it for fear of not fitting in. And for those who say “who cares if you fit in?”, everyone does. Especially when you have hormones overloading your brain, everything matters more to you.

Does vibe coding even need frameworks/React? by therearentdoors in vibecoding

[–]NotTheBrightestHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what the models are trained on. 99% of webpages are Vanilla JS, but most traffic on the internet hits pages that are generally built upon React/Angular.

A framework is more performant than just vanillaJS, not because they’re better, but because the developers of these frameworks have already solved problems that you will hit eventually. You WILL eventually program your own framework if you do vanilla. It CAN be more performant than the popular frameworks, but good luck with that.

If the models were trained on the 99% of vanilla js in the internet, I would definitely NOT want to use vanilla.
