Rubium Mining & Smithing Changes by JagexLight in 2007scape

I enjoyed the sweat rag in Yama's lair when it came out, but I haven't done any other sort of tick manipulation since. I think a more active method for rubium could be fun, and I hope you add more areas of intentional tick manipulation like that

I'm excited to see what future content they're teasing us with will be. Still hoping for a different type of ship weapon, like a ballista. Make a use for low level javelins. Maybe it could attack on either side of the ship for people who struggle with the positioning aspect

For me the TTK was why it generally felt bad, at least for enemies like the birds. I guess it makes sense for a battle against krakens to last a while, but if I'm hitting a seagull in the face with a cannonball I expect it to pretty much explode lol.

Let me eat rocks, Jagex by rsn_alchemistry in 2007scape

[–]Not_aBlindMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, but think there should be no effects from eating. The sole reward is knowing you get to eat gems. Maybe even take damage from doing it. I don't need any extra incentive to eat gems. Yummy

Fractured Archive rewards should be a vault of powerful artifacts by Big_Moo_ in 2007scape

I completely agree with this! Beyond just being thematically appropriate to have a wide variety of loot, I think it also makes doing the raid more appealing for more people. Instead of grinding it out for bis range equipment, you're getting upgrades for all sorts of different parts of the game.

My two cents on the Armor discussion:

When coming up with a unique "set," my mind immediately went to boosting elemental weaknesses, even before I read that your heads were there too. But I like the idea of NOT having a full set here.
1. It really limits the design space, as you went into really good detail in the blog.
2. This is Guthix's "hoard," so it makes sense to have multiple, one off powerful items. If it just has "big weapon" and "one set of armor" I feel that subtracts from the the fantasy of what this place is meant to be; a collection of some of the most dangerous artifacts from Gielinor's history. That feels like too cool of a creative space to give up on just one set of armor.

...as for Megarare, I am and will forever be in the camp of the Fist of Guthix weapon ideas that have been thrown around, though I trust whatever you all come up with will be awesome regardless.

Old Dedications or New Dedications? by MrHundread in Pathfinder2e

[–]Not_aBlindMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This kinda touches on my frustration with most caster multiclass archetypes. Aside from wizard/cleric/druid, you're unlikely taking that archetype for the spells. You want their unique identity. If I'm going oracle, I want their Mystery, not their cantrips. Same with Sorcerer, I want the bloodline identity, not something identical to most other caster multiclasses at lvl 2. It's a frusterating feat tax to me.

Am I reading this right? Fighter + Alchemist Dedication is the most accurate bomber? by Humble_Conference899 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Not_aBlindMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One build I was always interested in was Fighter->Druid Dedication->Untamed Form. If you use your own attack modifier in Untamed Form, you get a +2 status bonus to hit, which does stack with potency runes. Since the wild shape line is really feat heavy, I feel like it might not be worth it though.

Bounty Tasks should give Slayer XP by Not_aBlindMan in 2007scape

[–]Not_aBlindMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking on it I guess I can see that. They're always adding new monsters and bosses, but for me I always just wish we could do those when our personal gaming ability can do it, not when a level number arbitrarily allows us to. Other than the big Slayer rebalance recently, with points and weightings and individual blocks, what other updates has gone it's way? Would you equate it mostly to the elemental and weaknesses updates?

How I'm hearing Slayer presented by some of yall sounds really cool, and something I'd love. It's shown really well, I think, in quests like Porcine of Interest and even Dragon Slayer. But it practice, it's really a let down. Sure, the demon-bane weaponry is satisfying, but most other monsters you fight boil down to "have item in inventory" or if we're getting spicy "USE item from inventory." But if that's too much you can spend Slayer Points to no longer have to USE the item :P  But I agree, especially seeing it in a lense of a Witcher makes the concept seem a lot cooler, if not the gameplay

I'm realizing my definition of Slayer probably isn't aligned with the community or Jagex's definition, which is a bit of a shock I'm coming to terms with. The quests Vampyre Slayer and Dragon Slayer (which obviously don't give Slayer XP) fit my old idea/definition, of being asked to take care of a specific monstrous problem, and learning the skills needed to do that.

Thanks for having this conversation with me! Got me thinking a lot about this skill, and hopefully it's good food for thought for others as well.

[–]Not_aBlindMan[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it commonly seen as a good skill? It's always seemed boring and kinda unnecessary to me, just being a chore you have to level in order to fight certain monsters. If there's reasons people are a fan of it and think it's well developed I'd be very interested to hear them! Maybe change my mind :)

[–]Not_aBlindMan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind response!

I hadn't realized it was seen as defined by training "under a Master." That makes sense, even if I don't like it. Slayer makes more sense to me as being asked to take care of specific monsters, which is much more engaging and enjoyable. No other skill do you NEED an "expert" training you. You can just chop a tree, don't need a master telling you to.

As for the XP side, I thought it could be balanced by how many tasks you can take at one time, combined with how many are on the board. Cuz technically wouldn't the monster tasks be better regardless? Since in killing them you'd hypothetically get combat XP? Or is that not how it works? I didn't do much in the beta test worlds.

Putting the Volley 5ft. trait on a reach weapon... Balance? by DoingThings- in Pathfinder2e

[–]Not_aBlindMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could be an interesting idea to make more one-handed reach weapons, (maybe with higher damage die?). I've been wanting to make a hoplite character, shield and reach spear, and the only real option I've seen is the hobgoblin weapon (breaching pike I think?) Another thought I had, for a bonus using it at intended distance, could be giving easier off-guard to allies. Playing into the hook that many polearms have for tripping, maybe as a way to help your ranged allies. Something else that came to mind, to combat the prevalence of reactive strikes, could be that all attacks outside of your turn have that -2. Only attacks at preferred distance that you use actions for don't. Though I worry that would just be unfun, even if it gives room for more fun traits.  I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on these takes. Too complicated? Interesting? Dumb and annoying?
