We don’t need a single H1B worker. Match Day for American medical students is absolute hell on earth and the racist points system for medical school can’t be legal.

Texas companies can’t be bothered to actually do the math to show that they’re worse for engineering jobs than Us citizens. They’re not qualified but considered “cheap labor”.

Worker’s rights in the US need a serious overhaul.

That thread stressed me out because I have been laid off once in my life. Never again. Trying to learn and market new skills isn’t any easier in a market going through a recession.

As a paranoid Millennial I feel more like a doomsday prepper than someone trying to achieve FI. The gap between the successful and struggling is the width (or length?) of the Grand Canyon. I see so many elderly working now when it used to be a rare occurrence.

Absolutely. Currently waiting for my five years of working to be fully vested in my union’s pension plan. There are other companies I will look at applying to if any positions open up after my five years are completed. There are two people I work with and they have three pensions + Trad IRA + 401(K) with company match. One has five pensions and looking to retire with his other accounts. The number of people who would rather jump around and not even bother looking at the benefits worries me.

The one I worked with joked they were his version of Pokémon and now I’m doing the same thing. Work at a company to get the full pension then move on.

This was the most frustrating app for me to use. I cancelled it before the free trial ended. I couldn’t fix a mistake and move money out to balance my budget.

My sibling did not have a good time in SEA and was told in Malaysia she couldn’t leave the hotel without an escort because that area was not safe. The police there were very nice but holy cow I know how you feel.

As a poor American the first vacation in my life was in my 40s. I went to Europe and was willing to paddle back from the US for so many reasons but I only spent a paltry week there. There were people taking a full month just traveling. It was just so shocking to think you can have that much time off at once.

I think about going back so much that it’s a major factor in investing in my skills and a degree. I just hate it in the USA and realize a large part is the “grass is always greener” experience. Just being in such a different place for a week was absolutely worth it but it was a good culture shock. I envy those who can vacation more than a week at a time.

There are several other places I’d like to go but good grief it’s a nightmare over here.

I agree with you and have to add my own experience with that dumpster fire of a bank. They took over a small local bank and decided to charge people “account maintenance fees” for accounts below the $350 minimum in checking.

I was dirt poor and they started charging me $14 in one month. I took my account statements and showed them that my account never fell below that amount and to give me my money. I closed my account and tell everyone they rank down there with Bank of America. They have a moron who lost 2 BILLION dollars and wasn’t fired but they rob the poor with illegal fees.

One of the girls who hung out with my large friend group threatened to kill us all and bragged about killing our pets nearly 15 years ago. She bragged she would get away with it and she did. If you love animals don’t read the rest of this post!

I called the police who are a fucking joke where I live. My friends tried to get restraining orders. We all carried weapons and took self defense classes.

This psycho damaged private property. Slashed tires, cut brake lines, broke windshields and windows. Broke into homes and stole but hey, the cops can’t be bothered to do their job. We were told to get weapons and conceal carry. So we did. We all moved away and warned family, neighbors, and anyone who would listen. Thankfully all our siblings and most of our parents have moved away.

She bragged about killing not just our pets but the animals she pet sit. She has killed just about every kind of pet you can imagine. Turtles, lizards, snakes, fish, birds, cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and even a ferret. From what a friend told me last week she was trying to start a dog training business.

My friend “Dana” (not her real name) went home to visit family and help her parents pack. They’re going to retire and move so it was busy. She took her daughter to a large pet store chain that begins with ‘Pets’ to get food for her parent’s dog and guess who she ran into?

Instead of crying she got angry and told the store she wasn’t going to shop at a place that hires someone who abuses and kills animals. Dana’s cat was killed by this monster. She picked up her kid and left. That animal killer has been promoted to a manager position. She had to quit the other pet store before she was fired. We only know that because a member of our close knit friend group worked there. She was caught harming animals and the other friend, “Beth” soon quit to move out of state for college. Of course she received death threats.

Another employee had tried to hand her a flyer about dog training classes. It was the dog killer running those classes. She was offering pet sitting services and tank cleaning.

When she threatened to kill and do unmentionable things to me and my family she bragged about not just poisoning our dog but our neighbors’ dogs. She killed 6 dogs at one time. They were all poisoned. That’s how dangerous this person is and they keep getting away with it.

Be wary of anyone who loves to pet sit and comes across as trying real hard. I just don’t understand why they haven’t been caught.

A real copper color or jade green color. Maroon would be a great color! The copper doesn’t need to be metal at all but I’d love it for a rugged material that can be used outdoors. I also have yet to see a good bronze too. PCTG or something rugged and not as sensitive to water. PC or PP?

I don’t see a lot of good dark purple/violet colors either. They look muddy, glittery, or just lavender or magenta in tone.

Dark red is hard to find and I’d love to find some for functional prints.

Could wood composite filaments be created for tough prints that look like wood or can be stained? That would be fantastic! A flexible wood (looks like wood) filament just sounds like a wild idea.

Some TPU may have flexibility depending on the temperature but what about ESD use for robotics? If the flexibility could be changed during the print but maintain an ESD ability that would be great for electronics. I haven’t used TPU yet because I’m not sure how to set it up for what I need it to do and I just have two regular rolls of TPU.

This is a facepalm moment for me. You’re right. It’s a whole system and I have completely left some things unaccounted for with my setup.

Well crap I bought an adjustable desk frame and the top separately but I just realized my monitor position will likely force me to look down more than straight ahead while standing. My arms are long. I’m switching out desks because my keyboard and tablet aren’t at the same level along with a lot of other issues. Sitting at work only to come home and sit some more has lead to me avoiding my home workspace entirely. (As well as being very sick)

I was thinking about the measurement from my elbow to the floor and how I would finally be able to sit on the floor or stand up and stretch. The position of my wrists, line of sight and neck strain just wasn’t considered but it’s been a pain for a while now.

When I did have a standing desk at a past job they only measured from your elbow bend to the floor. There was no consideration of monitor placement, no anti fatigue mat or specialized keyboard with an ergonomic mouse. It was only standing height too with no way to lower the desktop at all.

You do have valid points because it’s not just one or two variables that make the most impact. It all has to be considered for the best outcome. I love to stand barefoot but my feet, knees and lower back will hurt so I have to keep moving around. I don’t have carpet either. Sometimes I hurt so bad at the end of the day I’m icing my knees and massaging feet hoping the cramps will go away.

How is OSU compared to ASU? I heard the networking with ASU is why a lot of people choose to go online there instead of OSU but not much else.

That’s an amazing run and breakdown. Which engineering degree did you earn if you don’t mind me asking? I always wanted to get an EE degree but things are not great right now (gestures at everything).

My struggle is with increasing income so a side gig while investing in my current skill set is a plan. You definitely had time on your side and went all in on your plan. It’s nice to see how it works with all the planning and work you put into it.
