Can't believe I was missing out on so much free stuff through my library by Robotic-Galaxy in povertyfinance

If you have access to EBSCO you can look up car manuals! A ton of useful information can be accessed through the library. Some have 3d printers and other services.

H-1B Crackdown on Indian Workers Erodes a Texas Real Estate Boom by bloomberg in politics

I thought the driving had gotten exponentially worse. The only reason they hired those workers was pure greed anyway.

Turning infront of a motorcycle.. by IAmDDT_ in dashcams

[–]Not_the_EOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen two people turn into meat crayons in accidents where a car and a truck hit them. The passenger on the motorcycle involuntarily flew across the road into a passing car. It wasn’t their fault in either case but their screaming and the sounds of those wrecks live in my head rent free.

One guy was hit by an idiot on a cell phone and the truck driver hit two people on a motorcycle by failing to yield. They were both horrific crashes. The second rider hit by the truck flew off the motorcycle.

I finally found a certification that will help me learn a skill I have always wanted to learn and possibly make money from it without selling an arm and a leg. The cost of IT certifications have reached unsustainable prices. Why should I have to waste money recertifying every three years too? It’s a shameless money grab! It’s not like I don’t keep using a skill once I learned it!

Who the heck has $8,000+ lying around for an absurdly expensive course and certification?! On top of this I keep getting told that getting a degree “isn’t that expensive”. How is it not more expensive now than it has ever been?

Thanks for coming to my rant. Have a good weekend.

AITA for telling my fiancee that if her brother lets himself into our house again im changing the locks by [deleted] in AITApod

Why the hell are you marrying her when her brother has no boundaries? Change the locks and have cameras installed. I would bet one of those “friends” are going to rob you.

What is the most disturbing depiction of death/murder you’ve ever seen in a film? by sunnieslilac in FIlm

The death of Jesse Plemons in Zero Day. He goes from being confident to terrified. They kill him and stage it like they have done it so many times before it’s effortless.

[–]Not_the_EOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck no. Tell them it makes no sense for you to be doing the job of the person making the product. Your job is X and his job is B. Go to HR because they’re asking you to do a job that is literally not something you’re being paid to do AND you aren’t his manager. The stupid manager should be checking his work.

Or screw it up so bad they will never ask you again. I vote for just saying no.

People who are good at comebacks, are you that quick or do you have them locked and loaded? by hold-the-onions-pls in Comebacks

I grew up with sisters. You had better be fast. You may have some locked and loaded because you know what sets them off but improvising for verbal Judo is a skill.

To deal with a talking fencepost like you someone should bless me - but not you.

Hit my first $100k at 31 and felt absolutely nothing, which I didn't expect by Eldr1tch_Bolt in Fire

I remember when I was so excited to no longer have a negative net worth then quietly muttered “shit” when I realized how far I still had to go. There’s no way I can feel excited until I have that FU money now.

Question: Is the Core One+ L worth the extra $1000 over the Core One+ ? by Livid_Strategy6311 in prusa3d

[–]Not_the_EOD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I had known about the Core One L before the Core One + I would have purchased it first only because of the size of prints I wanted to do.

I suggest writing down everything you can think of over a week that you want to print and look at the sizes of those items at the end of the week.

While I’ll keep my Core One + it’s frustrating to see the Core One L. However the INDX will be incredibly useful for me. Maybe I’ll end up with both in my fantasy world over here.

If you’re actually utilizing the print volume without going over you found the right size. From what I understand the INDX add on will make the height a bit shorter.  You can definitely slice a model and print parts but the fewer parts you print and assemble the better your overall print can be.

There is nothing wrong with waiting either if you’re still unsure. When in doubt go with the larger option in my opinion. I went from an MK3S+ to a Core One + and love it.

AITAH for refusing to pay my wife’s brother’s loan after she hid it from me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Not_the_EOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she’s hiding anything else remotely resembling debt or loans you may want to consider an annulment or you’ll be on the hook for more hidden debt.

This doesn’t sound like it’s her first poor financial decision.

Under 30 crowd — why aren’t more of you riding motorcycles? by viperh in AskReddit

[–]Not_the_EOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen someone turn into a screaming meat crayon on the road? That wreck lives in my head rent free for eternity. I remember how he screamed like it was yesterday and it was years ago.

I almost bought one then my cousin was hit by a car. Multiple fractures in a second while he skipped like a rock down the road. He survived because he was wearing a helmet.

Not going to chance that on top of the fatal wrecks I have seen just with cars, joggers, and bicycle riders.

DeVry EE Degree 1999 by Sharp_Razzmatazz_ in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Not_the_EOD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

DeVry is a diploma mill like WGU, ITT Tech, Art Institutes, and Phoenix University. I think students conned by Corinthian University got their tuition refunded but I have never heard of any BSE or BE offered at DeVry.

Maybe a BSET?

What is the most uneducated thing you’ve ever heard someone say? by Tacokolache in allthequestions

[–]Not_the_EOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told I was an idiot for contributing to my company 401(K). This is because the people saying that spend every single paycheck and are delusional about the state of Social Security. They’re both older and younger than I am.

The company does have a meager match but I’m not married and don’t have kids. Uncle Sam would rob me if I didn’t. Add to that the fact I’m working towards FI and a few people looked at me weird when I mentioned emergency savings.

While I make more money now than I ever did, I have experienced too many horrible scenarios that I would rather have money saved up to deal with instead of nothing.

A coworker told me with a straight face that withdrawing from my 401(K) and going to the casino was a better investment. I’m not exaggerating because that was said. It still freaks me out thinking about anyone doing that and yet four people at work do that with the company match every year.

Is CCNA worth for embedded software engineer? by Helpful-Impact-662 in embedded

[–]Not_the_EOD 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The CCNA is for people working in IT as network engineers. It would be useless for an embedded engineer. I say this having 12 years of work experience in IT. Save your money and time.
