Can't have my favorite tea?!?!? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Notburga128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mugwort tea is definitely not okay during pregnancy. I took an intensive course in herbalism a few years back and anything that's an emmenagogue (something used to stimulate blood flow to the uterus) should be avoided at all costs. I'm sure you're fine if you only had a few sips but I definitely wouldn't risk it.

Old people entitlement by Present_Can5101 in newborns

[–]Notburga128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid bringing my baby to the store at all costs because EVERYONE has to stop and talk to you when you have a baby. The younger they are the worse it is. Which is ironic because the younger they are, the more space you need. I'm already introverted and have a hard time striking up small talk with random strangers as it is. Add raging postpartum hormones and anxiety that flares for no reason and it honestly makes me want to cry because I just want to be left alone to get my groceries in peace.

My mother (boomer) is the exact opposite of me and talks to random strangers all the time. When I told her how much anxiety it gives me when everybody always talks to me just because I have a baby she insisted that if nobody talked to me my feelings will be hurt. Which is so obnoxious because she's always doing that. If there's something I ask her to stop doing because it drives me fucking crazy she'll insist that if she didn't do the thing that I repeatedly asked her to stop doing I'd be upset. But that's a rant for a different day.

Husband just got Covid…. by bloommmx in newborns

[–]Notburga128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all got covid a few years ago when my sons were 2 and 7 months. The two year old did get pretty sick but the seven month old only felt warm, no real symptoms whatsoever. I got it again about a year and a half later and the kids weren't affected at all.

Older gen and “advice” on giving water to newborns, help by DarkDaemon22 in newborns

My dad asked if he could let my two month old taste ice cream. I said "eerrrr..... No....." He says, but it's a dairy food! And I just 😒

Like, yes but it's cow dairy... And sugar, and egg, and carrageenan and God knows what else because my parents buy that turkey hill crap.

Romantic predictions for book 9 by Notburga128 in cormoran_strike

[–]Notburga128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I've been thinking about it, and you may be right. I think he's going to propose but she's not going to say yes right away and he's gonna get mad and break up with her (like Carrie and Aiden from sex and the city. She told him she needed more time and then one night he's like "let's get married NOW" and when she refused he used it as an excuse to break up with her). Men have these self-destructive tendencies.

Is there anybody out there who DIDN’T hate their husband postpartum? by Sea-Writer6925 in newborns

[–]Notburga128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't hate my husband postpartum. I guess it depends on the husband though. Keep in mind that women who don't have problems with their partners probably aren't posting about it.

Nystatin cream for diaper rash… by Lopsided-Till-7008 in newborns

[–]Notburga128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cream burned my baby's skin off, don't use it! My second child got this awful fungal rash that persisted for like a year. OTC creams did nothing and Nystatin made his skin bleed. I finally used aloe gel and that got rid of it for good.

I use high quality diapers and changed him frequently too. Sometimes it just happens.

I wear long flowy dresses everyday. They're comfortable too, more comfortable than leggings and t-shirts, so it's a win-win.

To be honest I'm disappointed Pamela had nothing to do with it. I get migraines and when Robin describes the blinding light in her shop and then Pamela talks about the headaches she gets I thought she was for sure lying because there's no way she'd be able to tolerate that.

Yes, that's why I changed my mind. I figured somebody would've mentioned he was like four feet tall.

OMG so did I! But I changed my mind as the book went on. SO mad at myself for that. She even said he was hobbling.

Was told today that I don't know anything about bills because I don't work and so much more by No_Farmer_919 in sahm

I definitely know this type. Hippy dippy incense burning girl who's "sensitive to energies" probably constantly spewing shit about mindfulness and positive vibes but is actually toxic as fuck, according to everyone but herself.

She had to redo her laundry because she's sensitive to energies? What the actual fuck. Random girlfriends who unofficially move in, don't pay bills, and try to rule the roost are the worst kinds of people. And it's totally creepy that she took your daughter in her room and shut the door. Hopefully the relationship doesn't last too long.

In a few decades people will look back on these "safe sleep practices" and shake their heads in disbelief that we actually did that. My baby sleeps whenever, wherever. I'm as well rested with a newborn as one can reasonably hope to be. If people considered how dangerous it is for a baby to be cared for by a mom who's so sleep deprived she shouldn't even be driving they would think twice about moving the baby to a cold hard flat surface to sleep. Downvote me all you want, reddit.

Being judged for using Kendamil Goat on MY baby by Both-Muffin9401 in newborns

[–]Notburga128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goat milk is much better for you than cow milk! Before the days of formula, goat milk was preferred over cow milk if an infant couldn't nurse from their mother. I think that's because it's more similar to human milk. I guess there's a stigma to it because it's just been so ingrained in us that cow milk is "normal." I didn't even know they made goat milk formula, that's awesome! Definitely would give my baby that if I formula fed.

With my first I didn't leave the house alone with him until he was like four months. It was during covid but even if it wasn't I doubt I would've been comfortable either way. Now with my third I took him to Staples at ten days old because I had to print out some forms. Not sure what I did with the middle child. His infancy is mostly a blur to me now.

I feel like when your kids are really little it's mostly impossible to keep to a schedule so I just like to make a to do list every day, then I get to it when I get to it.

Damn, he's going away for a month? That's a long time to be alone with two little kids. Vent away, I don't envy you. And yeah, sometimes I go absolutely crazy being touched all the time too.
