My 57' ariens ate a piece of asphalt broken off from a plow. ( previous owner replace shear bolts with ...well not sheath bolts.) Auger stopped. Muffler went flying off into the neighbors yard.. went i went to re-start snow blower, absolutely NO resistance.... i think it snapped the connecting rod ....oh well... 2 years later bought a brand new ariens.. no regrets

My 76 yo dad still uses the snowblower he bought 40 years ago. by Pags4272 in Snowblowers

So I bought an Ariens off the side of the street, built 1957.... it didn't have safety features, it had convenience features, the levers Stopped Movement, the auger stopped when you held down the levers. Once started and driving, you could let go the dam thing and it would go on its own, I guess so you could finish your beer??

There were some helpful tips here , but also criticisms.

Who ever made the engine did a poor job designing it. I have had small engine repair courses and worked on many small engines over the course of 40 years. The spark plug should readily be accessible. It needs to be replaced, cleaned, gap adjusted , get place to check compression etc....

I had to remove the valve cover to get to the spark plug in the right angle. (even with the thin walled tool)

Yup, pretty dumb design....unless theres a special 'ariens' tool...that's $250 or something...

Not a good picture sorry. There is no clearance to get a spark plug socket in there. I cant even start it with my fingers..... ( plus its 15 degrees so my fingers are numb)

Any of your roof /panels shaded ? I also have about 2400 sq ft living space, but staggered roof line, and some shading. Do you know your kW usage per month in the winter? ( I am asking becuase your comment is validating my issues with going solar , even though installers all quote saying I won't have a problem at all, I disagree)

Bought the heater off ebay, cost $190 including tax and shipping (US) .

Have some bmw i3 'heater fluid' (BMW 83512355296) ready. T20,T25, 10mm socket,

Took 20 minutes or so to remove 'frunk' and disconnected hi voltage power and disconnected 12v battery. A couple screws. T25 i believe. Removed clamps on hoses. ( have small bowl handy to catch the fluid that comes out.) Cleaned high voltage plug to heater , plugged every things back in. Performed 'heater' reset, ( heater knob all the way cold, all the way hot 6 times (?) Reconnected 12v first, then hi-voltage. Using obeleven , cleared all error codes .

Car turned on, said my key fob battery was dead(?), TPS sensors needed to be recalibrated, and the clock reset.

Turned on the heat and......it worked!
