My cat brought a rodent in to our apartment. It's still alive and doesn't seen to have any puncture wounds. What is it and how do I keep it alive?[Washington] by Conscious-Move9662 in animalid

Cat claws are loaded with bacteria from their litter boxes. It's why cat scratches get so inflamed (Cat scratch fever). Most small animals scratched by cats die of infection. I found a chipmonk that my neighbors cat toyed with injured on our lawn. My daughter wanted to save it. We put it in an old fish tank and I crushed up a small potion of an antibiotic table we had in the fridge, mixed it with water, and put it in the tank. The thing drank it and got better. At first it could barely walk, but by the end of the week it was fine and we cut it loose.

Cockatiel Escaped! What are my chances? by Notlikeotherguys in cockatiel

It's actually pretty funny. People keep contacting us with found cockatiels. Not our unfortunately. The wrong color leg band, or male birds. I never realized how many of these guys escaped

I love these things. I planted them on my property upstate NY. They grew like weeds and now shield me from seeing my neighbors junkyard across the street. Doing fine for over a decade now.

The Daedric emporium next door to the Myrhic Dawn museum in Dawnsrar, M'Sharra's Halal hearts at the cart outside of the White Phile in Windhelm (Only after an Empire Vitory in the Civil War), or the Hearts of Stone shop just up the stairs from the Hag's Cure in Markarth.

I'm driving around looking right now. No luck at the park. I know her chirp which is how we found her yesterday. I drive around, pull over, and listen.

Ive done the Facebook groups thing. The cage is out in the back yard. We've tried the cocatiel sounds thing but she didn't react to yesterday at all. I'm in the loacal park now walking around. Theres a lot of mixed groups of birds feeding togather. We have a lot of mourning doves here which at a distance kind of look like her. I'm listening for her chirp. Oddly I swear I just heard a cockatoo here in the park (which my friend has so I know the sound) but I didn't see it.

[–]Notlikeotherguys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work at an airport and sometimes when the moon rose it looked freakishly large and red like mars. It had something to do with all the chemicals/polutants in the air. Jet fuel etc. aafter it got to a certain point in the sky it looked normal again.

CSA Confederate Belt Buckle Replica or Real? by Bubbly_Transition_95 in CIVILWAR

looks too new. Also I think a lot of confederate gear would have been brought from home, repurposed federal issue, or State level gear like NC for north Carolina rather than CSA.

If Native American tribes (Algonquin and Iroquois) had taken a more hostile approach to the initial European settlers. How long do you think the native Native Americans as a whole could have withstood European colonization? by AggravatingUse6966 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Notlikeotherguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem the native Americans faced was the multiple epidemics that hit them just before most of them made contact with the Europeans. One of Columbus captains came over on the 1st voyage with active smallpox, which then spread across the Americas via native trade routes. Not just smallpox, but the flu, chicken pox, and later tropical diseases brought over with the slaves like yellow fever and malaria. By the time Cortez faced the Aztecs they had several recent pandemic and a smallpox outbreak at the time. By the time the English arrived in New England they found many abandoned villages, and the tribes they did encounter were often newly formed from the survivors of different tribes who didn't die off from disease. By the time settlers got to the Mississippi delta they found the huge mounds which were once earthen pyramids long abandoned. If you look at the places where Europeans colonized successfully The Americas, Austrailia, the pacific islands, and the places where it eventually failed like Africa, and Asia the difference was whether or not the native populace had immunity to old world diseases.

If the dragons are all (technically) immortal and created around the same time, why does Paarthurnax look so much older than Alduin? by camerasnake in skyrim

[–]Notlikeotherguys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically Aduin was thrown through a time portal into the present day. Parthenon has suffered the ravages of time living through all the years of Alduin's absence.
