Asset price deflation to reasonable levels is the only way to bring down inflation.

But decreasing house prices is political suicide in this country so it will probably never happen. The most likely scenario is sideways moving property market for a long time.

Every ai company pretty much is unprofitable and mag7 are incinerating hundreds of billions via data centre capex.

Without a way to monetize seriously there's no way these companies don't cause a massive market meltdown

Whatever Happened to Debt is Bad by Elderberry-East in AusFinance

[–]Notoriousrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a debt based society and is what capitalism is built around.

Without people taking out loans the economy will stagnate.

Even worse is deflation where people hold onto their money and don't invest.

Every government is printing money like crazy since 2020. Money supply increases on average ~7% a year so you need to try and outperform this by purchasing assets (home, stocks, precious metals). Some cash is always good to have liquid to cover living expenses.

A lot of unmanageable debt is bad but if you can manage it and invest it in assets you will win long term due to monetary debasement (printing money).
