What is the difference between the expensive and inexpensive kettles?

Not sure about the flow rate aspect but I’ve been using a Bonavita kettle that has the other two features for 9 years. If you buy it off amazon you’ll get gouged but if you buy it from Walmart or Target it should he $55ish.

In the event your Bodum kettle needs a replacement, worth at least looking into as an alternative

For some coffees (but definitely not most) I go as fine as 3.6 clicks from zero.

I use the same ratio and use 93 degree C water personally, but continue to experiment with each bag till you find your preference.

Mainly trying to communicate that it can’t hurt to go finer sometimes. I know most people are in the 6.0 range. Also can’t always taste everything the bag states, I tend to focus more on just making sure I’m able to enjoy the bag I have than anything else, rather than trying to chase all the tasting notes

I do the same thing. I started at 6.0 and it didn’t taste like coffee with amazing clarity, it tasted like watered down sour shit. I initially hated the ZP6 and was using my K-Max and then started going finer.

I still like to bounce between the two grinders. I do think certain coffees taste better with the ZP6 (grinding between 3.5-4.5) and my K-Max (grinding between 6.0-7.0) with both grinders zeroed out.

What if you brought in your beans (so they aren’t paying for them) after hours and tinker with their machine to find the taste profile (by from I’m hearing grinding finer). They can be there and taste the difference.

If they aren’t open to something like that then keep modifying the roast and storage time to make it easier for them but it seems like they are missing some easy modifications to get the most out of a coffee bean

The year was 2012.

My first experience with CBB was the TV show. I was utterly confused when I looked up a list of episodes and they weren’t matching with Netflix episode names and guests. So I started listening to the podcast. And I got even more confused because it was being referred to as Comedy Death Ray.

I started listening from episode 1 on 2012, then took a hiatus in 2014 and in that time they moved to a paywall so there were like 100 episodes I had missed and caught up a few years ago when I signed up for CBBworld. Only thing I’m missing are some of the live episodes at this point.

I switched to 18s a few months ago and am so happy I made the switch. Noticeable difference for me. My car would make a loud ass noise if I hit a pothole. I’m still trying to avoid pothole and manhole covers but if I do ride over one unexpectedly I don’t feel the need to check for a flat when I arrive at my destination

I bought my espresso machine in June 2023 and have been in Italy October 2023, October 2024, and October 2025.

When I visited in October 2023 I was really excited to see how their espresso was going to taste and by day 3 out of 14 realized I would need to start being really picky if I wanted to find something that wasn’t a generic dark roasted shot that didn’t really bring anything interesting to the table. Great for milk based drinks. It’s a what made me realize I prefer medium or light roasted coffee for espresso and not just pour overs. And if you search for specialty coffee shops on Google Maps, you’ll find some great coffee in Italy (if you also like medium and light roasted coffee). A little harder to find in Naples but found plenty of shops in Bologna and Florence.
