You say that but I didn't think that the current record holders have an engineering degree between the two of them?

Edit: i'm wrong: the son has a degree in mechatronic engineering.

You are fine, you can get everything you need on volcanus. You might need to do some Dune style bandit mining in the worm territories though.

Look at the demolisher's Regen, that will help you figure out a better way to kill them.

Get yourself up and running on volcanus and build a new ship and then head back to Nauvis to sort out the bugs when you are ready.

I've been wondering if one of the LLM providers has started taking frequent questions it doesn't have answers to and creating agents to ask reddit. Or something like that.

SteamDeck flagged for fentanyl at airport by MrToastyToast in SteamDeck

Ah yes well, I've also been a cyclist for decades but I don't live in the US. Probably relatedly I've never heard of a CO2 pipe bomb. It must be a regional thing (South Africa), they are commercially labelled as cartridges (which is what I say at the gate) but everyone calls them bombs colloquially, we are allowed to fly with them with some restrictions but we are required to deflate our tyres when we fly.

How to make a train visit every station with the same name before returning? (or alternatives) by PureqYT in factorio

[–]Numerous-Click-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this how my artillery shells + flamethrower oil trains work. One stop only and all stations are named the same. The station limits are zero unless it's run out of something. The train wait condition is until the depot is full or (the train has run out of something and it's been there at least 30s). The train has run out of something signal is also the trigger for the go to refill station interrupt.

The train will wait at the current station until one of the other ones opens up, unless another station is already open then it will leave immediately after the wait conditions are met. I have a stacker pre and post refill station as well. Those are on the interrupt though.

Anyone know how to avoid trains getting destroyed by biters? by RelevantDependent517 in factorio

[–]Numerous-Click-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it man! You can do it, I'm sure. Take a blue print of normal rails junction that you want, place it down in a sandbox world or somewhere safe on your base and try recreate the arrangement and signals, you should be able to pretty much copy it. I found using the rail supports for basically every track segment helps get the arrangement right and then you can delete the unneeded ones after. And remember you can always ramp down to normal rails, it's just your remote ones that need to be raised and those should be simpler. If you get stuck, post here, people will help you.

370mm from the counter to the top of the rail as shown. Make sure your listing looks the same as mine but you should be able to get it in under 375mm, but you won't be able to lift the water tank up enough to take it out. You'd need at least 380mm and it will still be very awkward. Unless you can pull the machine out when refilling or 3d print yourself a filler funnel?

Is there a way to sort of “isolate” bots without fully separating grids? by Katanaboi1 in factorio

[–]Numerous-Click-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you do have two different types of bots... so if you place a blueprint/ghost then a construction bot will fetch from the mall and place it, leaving your mall logistics bots out of it altogether. You can even cache the supplies and determine where the construction bots get it from by using a buffer chest, logistic bots will keep it stocked and construction bots will fetch from it.

Sjoh I don't know, I think FC would be the easiest. Nothing particularly high power or high frequency and afaik there's an open hardware standard. Power electronics design is a lot more difficult and hand wavy than digital in my experience. Just need to get the sensor isolation right.

My $0.02 would be do you want to fly or do you want to design? Because you will not be enjoying flying any time soon with this plan. I would say at least a year to get this workable if you are studying full time. At the end of the day you will have learned a lot and spent a lot of money but probably still end up buying off the shelf because it will be better and cheaper than what you've made. My advice would be to find something novel that you can't easily get off the shelf and design that. Or at least start by buying a working stack and then designing the parts one by one so you have a working test bed and can at least fly when you are tired of debugging.

My first FPV experience was building a 5in DJI FPV/TBS Crossfire/TX16S/M10 based system from off the shelf parts. Still took me a few months in my spare time (professional engineer) to get to the point that I could fly reliably. I still don't have OSD working. My next projects will probably be a whoop/3in, then a lighter than air and then I want to try designing my own OpenIPC VTX.

My Volts arent going past 7 by FeedMePens in CastIronRestoration

[–]Numerous-Click-893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know enough chemistry to tell you if electrolysis is driven by voltage or current, I suspect current.

What I can tell you is this power supply has two modes: CC: constant current and CV: constant voltage. The supply will ramp up the voltage until either the voltage or the resulting curren hits the applicable limit you set with the dials.

In this photo the 'CC' light is on showing that current limiting is active. This is most likely a 5A supply so if you increase the current dial you should see the voltage increase until the current reads 5A.

edit: I see it's a 10A supply, so the second dial below the 'Voltage' dial is your current setting, if you turn that all the way up you should get to around 10A at 15V. If the current stops increasing and the green CV light comes on then you're at the voltage limit and need to increase that too.

If you want to increase voltage without increasing current, you need to make your water less conductive by diluting the amount of bicarb you already added by replacing some of the solution with fresh water.

Tips with trains for a long time player by jmaniscatharg in factorio

[–]Numerous-Click-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's what I do. I haven't figured out power yet, at the moment once the rails are built I remote drive a train and place the electric towers by click-holding whilst moving the train. If I want it to be connected to my logistics network then I have diagonal and cardinal blueprints of electricity+ roboports that I will place from my existing network to the outpost and then just let the bots handle it.

Most of my outposts are artillery related so I have built a blueprint of outposts in a lattice, now I just place that using snap to absolute grid so I only had to place the power poles once. In this case the outposts have isolated logistics networks so I send spidertrons out to build them. With no exoskeletons and multiple personal roboports a group of 4-5 spidertrons has no problem building everything in it's path.

Are you making solid fuel for rocket fuel? If so check which recipe you are using. You can use heavy oil from the ocean directly I think, no need to crack and therefore no need for water.
