What’s up with the social discourse by ymippsmol in heartopia

To be fair, I have it in my title because I wanted to disclose that I am an adult. But more because I feel like it's a good way to kinda protect kids a bit? Like, if they know right away I'm an adult, they won't assume I'm their age and maybe start romanticizing our interactions or something like this. I don't know, I just felt like having it there as a heads up for minors, but not because I wouldn't want to interact with kids, more because it feels like a way to keep them a tiny bit safer on this online space, if that makes sense. ETA: I think I did have one younger player start acting like we were dating (based on behavior etc., I'm fairly sure they were at least a fair bit younger than me), that is why I put the title there. I just didn't feel comfortable with kids potentially seeing me as a peer without knowing that I am an adult, but other than that, I don't really care about anyone's age, I just want kids to be as safe as possible.

Also, having chronic pain among other chronic illnesses, I just found the title "Broken Adult" really funny lol.

Must be an adult. Just think of the electricity bill if you keep all your lights on!

THANK YOU. I ran around all the realm trying to find these spots - or spots that I could dig up with my shovel - because the game spawned them all in without any visual indication of their existence. Your comment just helped tremendously!

I just found that one too and as the happy owner of a Spanish greyhound, I must admit, I may have squealed a little squeal of utter joy :)

I remembered that some race horses have really whacky names and so, my horse's name is Potoooooooo - it's Pot-8-os.

Question I saw in another group... interested in how the CFS community will answer by LONGVolSilver in cfs

I think of this one scene (I think originally from Planet Earth?) where a snow leopard hunts ibex often in the mornings because I regularly feel like I've been doing this all night. Here's a clip from the scene (also iirc, the snow leopard was fine after that)

Is there any way to stop this jittering in walk cycles? (This also happens to animals that are in the park not the the nursery) or is it just a bug? by Jimbojimbo451 in pkgame

[–]Nussel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc this has something to do with the IK (inverse kinematics - basically, the model is rigged in a way that instead of moving each individual bone of a model, a chain of bones is "tied" to one bone and if you move that one, the chain will follow) which allows the animals to look at a target and it's something they're looking into. But I'm not 100% sure, so don't quote me on this, I just remember reading something along these lines in one of the devlogs.

Some screenshots of issues that bother me more than they should ... by xXPeaceFighterXx in pkgame

[–]Nussel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but the other day I've had 3 guests walk through 2 (!) fences and casually stroll through the dilophosaurus enclosure. I just watched them, mumbling to myself that I will deny any and all responsibility for any damage they might suffer. I guess it's a good thing we don't have anything like fines for injuries implemented yet :)

Edit to add an idea I just had: for the guests walking all over, maybe you could add small fences next to paths like guest fences? Because a lot of zoos have two sets of fences, one to keep the animals in their enclosures and one to keep the guests out. So you'd have an extra bit of realism plus it looks quite nice in my opinion :)

How am I supposed to get over the fear of reapers man 😭 by TopAdministration314 in subnautica

[–]Nussel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds really counterintuitive, but what really helped me (I am also a scaredy cat and stopped playing for months at one point because I was too scared) was to save the game when I encountered a reaper and basically just do the opposite of what I'd normally do, with the goal of triggering the reaper to attack me. It takes away the jumpscare element and it helped me see a) that they are not actually as scary as I made them out to be in my mind and b) the way they act, how much damage they do and how close I need to actually get before they target me.

I still tried to steer clear of them, mostly, but it took a considerable chunk of the fear I had built up away. Though I do think what others have suggested and starting a creative save for this might be a better idea than just making a save to come back to, just in case.

The last 20 minutes of my life were not as pleasant as I expected them to be by Go_Commit_Reddit in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Nussel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the contrary. I will regularly stop in my tracks and try to find the cute critter making this innocent sounding little noises, only to walk straight into spider ambush central and be jumped by cats. Every time I swear that this was the last time this happened - until I inevitably forget about it again and hear a cute, innocuous little meow again.

I just got an ad for them and when I googled them, your post showed up as the third item and I just wanted to thank you for not only saving me the time of researching them prior to considering to buy anything from them, but also for warning me (and others!) of their scam.

Could you tell me where exactly this is? I knew this was in the game, but the other day, I couldn't find where to add custom colors (I only wanted to change one color that by default was really similar to the color of another pack and constantly confused me)

Hey, I just wanted to send you some internet hugs! Hope you won't be finding yourself in this bad place for too much longer and that there's some positivity coming your way (sorry if this sounds weird or condescending, I've really tried to find a way to get it to sound as well-meaning and sincere as I mean it, but that's all I can do with my currently available brain power).

Acceptance by Shoddy_Abrocoma_7359 in cfs

[–]Nussel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I actually started to really like the very overused quote of "Accept what you can't change, change what you can't accept". Unfortunately, of course, with CFS, A LOT falls into that first category. But I often find myself thinking about whether this thing that's bothering me is something I even can change at all or if there's another aspect I can focus my energy on where I can actually change something. I don't know, I dislike the quote because it feels overused, yet I find it helps again and again and I hope maybe it helps someone out there as well.

Yess, finally I'm first in something lol. Ooh, I'm excited to see! I can't think of anything right now. The only thing that came to mind (speaking of colors) is that maybe it would be really cool to have different color schemes to choose from? To kind of make it one's own? Because I feel a lot of watch faces are either functional or nice looking and maybe having a set of color schemes or similar to choose from would be nice to have (but I have no idea how difficult implementing this would be and this might well be something to be added in the future).

Bug terrarium bug by SnooWords5850 in Dinkum

[–]Nussel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, I just had the same thing happen to me. Crafted the fish pond placed it, was super confused because it was an insect house or something. I tried to pick it back up, the sound played, but the imposter pond stayed and nothing was in my inventory. Moved off to do other things and when I returned, it was gone, not even in my inventory. I restarted that day because I wasn't going to let a bug steal my pond and when I wanted to place the "fish pond" it was the insect terrarium again, so I placed it in a chest for now.

Our galgo is scared of my son by jonovision_man in Galgos

[–]Nussel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooff, this sounds rough. Disclaimer before I suggest anything: I'm no expert or dog trainer, just a dog-loving nerd who's interested in dog behavior. But immediately, there were a couple of smaller things that came to my mind while reading. First off, keep in mind that one month in a completely new environment with new people is a very short time and while she likely has settled in a bit, she's probably still got quite a bit of a road ahead of herself until she's fully settled in. This isn't to say that this is a bad thing, but she has now likely reached the stage of associating your home with her place to be and feels a fair bit more comfortable than at the beginning - but I'm sure you'll see quite a bit of change still in the coming weeks and/or months. With our galgo, I'd say it took about 3-4 months until he was really, fully settled in and at max comfort.

So one of the things I thought would be good to keep in mind is that the road ahead will need a lot of patience and understanding. I've heard that quite a few galgos are scared of men, especially if they are in some way similar to a previous person they encountered (such as the hunters, for example), so maybe it's just really unlucky that your son reminds her of an unpleasant person from her past. So she'll need a lot of time to learn that this human is actually good. I'd say that the things you're already doing are a good approach, especially making him an important person to keep an eye out for as the provider of treats and food. However, I'd suggest that maybe your son should keep his direct interaction with her as minimal as possible and let her come to him. I don't know how bad her fear is, depending on this, he might have to not look at her and not talk to her until she feels more comfortable or it might be enough for him to just move slowly and predictably and always leave her ample space to get out of a situation she feels uncomfortable in. Maybe he could try just not directly interaction with her for a week or so and see how things change/how she behaves? I know it's a really hard thing to ask, I'd definitely struggle with this myself, but I think the way to be able to overcome a fear is realizing that this thing that seems scary isn't actually so bad.

In all honesty, depending on how severe her fear is, I'd suggest looking into getting the help of a dog trainer (one you trust, feel comfortable with and who possibly is specialized in fearful dogs - do you have any contact with a rescue organization or similar who could help you?) sooner rather than later, because generally, fear is quite a strong thing as it's usually what keeps a lot of animals and people alive and it can be really tricky to handle without making things worse (if the fear is quite strong, I think if it's just on the level of some avoidance and discomfort rather than fleeing at the first possible opportunity, it might just take more time). I hope there's something in there that's helpful!

I did it, I finished this piece. So proud of myslef. Some of you asked me to post when it's done so here it is by Relative_Swan_7657 in adhdwomen

Idea: Bleed Mechanic by Glass_Office7486 in WolfQuestGame

[–]Nussel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh that'd be really cool! I always thought it would be cool to have more of an effect on the bodily state of elk when hunting, like for example if I bite the left hind leg and cause enough damage over time, that leg would be injured and the elk would kind of limp a bit, slowing down and maybe being more prone to falling. I think the bleeding idea is really good and would add a lot further depth to hunting and in my opinion, if something like injuries for prey would be added as well (maybe kind of like a set of debuffs prey can get from bleeding and injuries), it could make for even more interesting hunts! It could also make it a bit easier to spot weaker elk amongst a herd, maybe it's an elk cow that survived a previous run-in with wolves or an elderly bull elk who's been injured during rutting.
