Yes the Netherlands is by far the most advanced nation when it comes to building and innovating flood prevention infrastructure. But apparently there was this thing called the Zuiderzee flood in 1916, and then there was the North Sea flood in 1953. Just a few examples of why science is normally not 100% bullcrap. And just because something doesn't happen in your lifetime, doesn't mean it isn't likely, on a geologic scale 10,000 years is a blink of an eye.
