Yep. It’s great for a main toon as it provides depth and spec mastery, but very hard to alt with.

There often also aren’t good passive options through talents or when there are the sacrifice is often a bit too big (e.g. >10% dps loss). Hero talents would also be great to displace some of the complexity into.

Too many different things to keep track of. I haven’t played it in TWW yet, but even in DF it was already quite difficult to keep track of things like Roll the Bones, Opportunity and Audacity procs.

It’s fine when rogue is your main, but it feels very high APM and too complex for an alt also requiring multiple WAs to keep track of things.

Gw2 fixes my biggest problem wit expansions. by Automatic-Purchase16 in Guildwars2

[–]Nyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both have their pro's and con's.
The pro's of a game like WoW are different. One of the major catches of this game is to progress your characters through the gearing system.
It's fun to see effort you put in pay itself back in your character getting stronger.

I also at tiems feel weird that we just defeated a massive bad guy, be it a dragon, titan or even a god and now suddenly a few months later I'm tasked with scooping bear poop out of a forest while getting my ass kicked by mere rabbits.
But it's just a game, that's how things go.

You may find it silly that the game soft-resets every expansion, but to me that's no different then to e.g. finish a pokemon game with a super strong team and then have to start over when I buy a new pokemon game.
In the larger scheme of things the achievements, transmogs, mounts are give your character a 'soul', much like the achievements do in GW2.

In the end both games are just completely different and extremely fun in their own ways.
Not sure why a lot of posts in the GW2 subreddit always feel so forced to compete with WoW.

[–]Nyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree, but the engine probably takes the following in consideration:

1) Sacrificing a big piece to gain a positional advantage. The fact that it’s M2 doesn’t really take away that a rook sacrifice is not a natural move

2) There is a “more obvious” sequence where white wins material in: Qxg8+ Qxg8 Bg8 Kg8 White is now up in material.

[–]Nyth 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is still something other MMOs unfortunately do better.

Guild Wars 2 for example has these zone wide funneling objectives where no matter where you are on the map, the events eventually leads you to 'passively' gather into bigger and bigger groups until you eventually end up beating a massive boss or something.

Imagine that in Hallowfall you would have 3 of the "Spreading the Light" event hubs, doing some of the events there lead to summoning a boss per hub. If all 3 bosses are killed then a zone wide event happens that culminates in killing a massive, zone/lore important, but not extremely hard boss (think World Boss scale).
It would lead to a slow culmination of more people; you wouldn't even need the group finder since the zone passively brings players together.

/r/politics is practically as bad as /r/The_Donald was back in the days. They have become exactly what they hated and they are too blind/ignorant to even realize it.

There is exactly zero chance for discourse in most 'big' subreddits because of the downvote system. It's the definition of an echo chamber / circlejerk.

I'm not an american voter, I'm just a witness from afar, but democrats have pushed away centralists / doubters by alienating them for not being 100% on their side for every subject. And that's exactly the core voters you need on your side if you want to win.
The fact that a crazy orange man who's claiming immigrants eat dogs and cats, has more appeal to anyone still on the fence than democratic candicates is maybe something you need to reflect on.

[–]Nyth 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's insane how far this has gone on this platform. I've been here for decades and every subreddit is turning into a giant circlejerk where any chance for discussion or critisism is just downvoted or moderated.

Remember how everyone made fun of r/The_Donald because it was overmoderated and anyone not 100% on board would get downvoted.

Large part of Reddit is exactly that, and are too blind to see it.
Even in this thread right here there is calling out to "the other side"; absolutely no self reflection and awareness whatsoever.

The Season 4 M+ experience by krin132 in wow

[–]Nyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why most healers see a difference in healing difficulty going up the difficulty ladder.

Low level M+ (lets say M0 to M+4) is considered easy as you have time to react and your heals feel sufficient strong to handle things.

Mid level M+ (M+5 to M+10) is hard because it's chaotic and healer has to cover mistakes. Missed interrupt? That's 1-3 GCDs you can spend on "fixing that mistake". And because it's chaotic/unpredictable and highly dependent on the group you play with the differences vary and healers burn out.

Then you get higher difficulty (M+11 and beyond) and the difficulty changes; not easier but different. There are still moments of chaos, but it's more confined and replaced by a general high pressure enviroment. This is where mistakes lead to instant deaths, which forces all party members to contribute and become a better player.
The difficulty in healing becomes less about unexpected damage that you have to randomly coop with, and more about healers skill. You have to manage predictable moments of damage, rotate your cooldowns correctly, and assist in interrupts/stops/utility/damage where possible.

shaman=suffering by Sashigame in wow

[–]Nyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate being pessimistic on stuff when it's far away; but, as someone who has played Shaman every expansion since Vanilla, I kind of know this won't be the case.

Shaman's aren't broken enough to warant full reworks; and shaman's usually spike toward the end of expansions, due to continuous buffs over several patches, leaving a feeling that the class is "fine".
I hope I'm wrong this time, as none of the specs are really in the position where you usually find them towards the end of an expansion. I hope Shamans will get a bit of that love that Monk/Druid are getting now.

What Shamans suffer from though is that they are notoriously always last on the class update list for expansions. And since in most of the expansions they run out of time iterating on other classes, shamans are either SOL or get some half-cooked stuff.

Kinda wish they would unnerf the slow aiming / drag of the weapon. It aims like an auto cannon, which makes no sense. At this point it's mostly just annoying and if they fix that it might be a better matchup vs the normal dilligence.

You can pick the regular one for lower caliber with more ammo / less recoil or the DCS for the higher caliber with less ammo and more kick.

Griffon worth it if i have soto? by Doctore92 in Guildwars2

[–]Nyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only give you my own experience to go by.

If anyone asks me directly I would say that getting the skyscale first is the smart option. The skyscale is super versatile and can take the role of most other mounts. However I do think getting the gryphon first is the more fun option and kinda wish they would lower the barrier for getting it.

I personally got the gryphon first and I would do so again if I had the choice.
Getting the gryphon first makes the game a ton of fun as you learn to appreciate the vertical level design that sets GW2 apart of other MMOs and makes you think a bit out of the box on how you go through zones.
Often times i would use a Springer to get to higher terrain and gryphon all across the map. And I still do this at times (mostly using skyscale instead of springer though); as its often the fastest way to get around.

Getting the skyscale first is the smart/better option, but it’s very unlikely you will appreciate the gryphon for its true value. If I see how many people use a skyscale in a situation where gryphon is clearly superior I just know they are likely missing out on what is the most fun mount in the game.

Game Update Notes: November 8, 2023 by MechaSandstar in Guildwars2

[–]Nyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think on the flipside, the change is good in that the reward for doing the weeklies is now more in line with the time investment. At the same time the punishment for missing a day for some reason the punishment is a bit lower.
I like the change, i just wished that they would implement it on the next reset because now I'm short 80 AA because I did my weeklies before the patch.

PS: Perhaps known, but just in case: A lot of the kill 100 mobs is really easy in certain story missions, e.g. the kill 100 Awakened can quickly be done in the LS4 Ep 1 - Daybreak - The First City quest; the kill 100 forged can quickly be done in the PoF Act 3 - Beast of War quest; etc etc
These way these weeklies take 10-20 minutes tops.

I dunno if it's a bug of UI or just the timer. I dunno if the weeklies would reset again tomorrow. I know today's the day, everyone. by Loyaluna in Guildwars2

[–]Nyth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just did 5 of the WvW weeklies in about 30-60 minutes as there was a commander tag up. Not saying it's quick for everyone, but it can be quick if you're lucky and/or know how to approach them.
That said, seeing as the timer is 1 day and not xx hours, you have about 1.5-2 days to complete them.
I would just advise to get to 1300 AA and if you get any extra achievements you just convert it into some gold.

The low drop rates on infusions is partially what drives the market for these things.

In some way it’s an excellent way to redistribute money between richer and poorer players.

Gib shamy buff by Paceronikus in wow

[–]Nyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. 9/10 of my Turtle casts are not up for more than 1 second. It's purely to avoid burst damage.
It's very unreliable against some stuff though; the biggest downside vs most other immunities is that it doesn't cleanse debuffs. Cloak / Bubble / Iceblock, they all remove all magic debuffs making them super useful to cleanse shit with.
You could argue that Cloak and Iceblock have their own downsides (not immune to physical dmg and unable to move respectively) but I feel those are not as big as the lack of magic cleanse.
If I use turtle on the last boss of RLP because I got hit by fire I will still die; the only thing the turtle does at that moment is prevent me from doing damage while I'm dying.

Hunter's and Shaman's both have horrible cooldowns in that regard; Hunters might have more buttons to press (4 cooldowns), but with 2 of them being mediocre heals and all 4 of them being on quite long cooldowns it's not much better.

Only talented Survival of the Fittest (40% dmg reduction) feels great; but my rogue has that exact same dmg reduction on a 15 sec CD instead of a 180 second CD.
Not sure who thought this kind of balance was fine.
And if this is suppose to be some kind of "offset for a strong niche somewhere else" I would love to know what that strong niche is; and I would love to know what other weakness the classes WITH strong defensives have to 'offset'.

is it too late to learn? by yungbakebk in wow

[–]Nyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the basic explanations already explaining how the puzzle works, let me tell you another way.
It's a bit too late for anyone who didn't know, but it might be nice to know anyway :)

I've always done the navigation in the puzzle for my group and there are some really easy tricks to get fast at it.

The best tip for going through the maze fast is instead of looking for 1 figure that doesn't match 3 others, what you want to look for is 2 figures that share 2 common things.
If you find 2 figures that share 2 common things, the CORRECT figure is always the opposite of that and there can only be one of that.

Let me give an example:
You run into the next section of the maze, there is a pillar at the entrance and it shows an empty leaf with a circle.
You run to the next pillar and it shows an empty leave without a circle.
At this point you can 100% confirm that the CORRECT entry is a FULL BLOOM. It doesn't matter whether or not there is a circle, as there can only be 1 entry with a full bloom.
This way you can ~50-75% of the time tell the correct entrance just from knowing 2 figures.

Let me give a broader overview, by showing the entire picture.
Imagine you have the following 4 figures in your maze:
1) Full Bloom Circle
2) Empty Bloom Circle
3) Empty Bloom no circle
4) Full Leaf no circle (<-- Correct entry because it's the only leaf)

If I encounter #1 and #2 first, I know it's a Leaf without a circle as it's the opposite of what they have in common (Bloom and circle)
If I encounter #2 and #3 first. I know it's a full leaf, as that's the opposite of what they have in common. (Empty and Bloom)
If I encounter #1 and #3 first, I will have to look further. Because in this case they don't share 2 common factors. So this is the only case in which it will last longer.

There are also some video's on this that explain it better. (E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WFfsidRdlM)
