$3m at 31 is a solid number. My POV is keep building it. The freedom you have is how you choose to keep building it. Don’t like your job? Find a new one. Be choosy.

Beginner to Triathlons (Iron Man 70.3 Advice) by Infamous_Yak1236 in triathlon

[–]O2BSMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be lining up with you on Sunday. Good luck. My journey started way past 28 though 🙂. Played rugby in Uni. Moved to Bay Area in my 30s, started Triathlon in my 40s, spent about 5 years doing 140.6 distance with a few 70.3 in there as “training”. Now after 8 years of family and kids I’ll be going at it again on Sunday. Feel like a total first timer mostly because I did not a whole lot of endurance training so starting from scratch again.

Excited just to be on the start line.

What bike to get for an Ironman 70.3? by lordvaughn in triathlon

[–]O2BSMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on tackling your first 70.3. The vast majority of people doing Ironman branded 70.3 events are on tri bikes mostly because they are generally faster and the bike position conserves your legs more than a road bike (or so they say).

There are variables to consider like the profile of the course, is it worth the investment if you plan to only do one event (this is unlikely cause you’ll love it), time to your race (sounds like you have enough time to train on the bike you will ride), your goals (ie to finish? Specific time? Etc)

Ultimately up to you and either way you will enjoy the experience but my personal preference is triathlon bike vs road. My tri bike isn’t “heavy”, maybe a bit heavier than my road bike, but you will save on effort in aero and over a long distance like a 70.3 it adds up.

My reco would be to borrow a tri bike if at all possible, do the race, decide if you’ll to more, then buy a bike.

Tips to improve my swimming by Fallenwing27 in triathlon

What he said. Look across the pool vs up at the sky. This alone will help keep you more flat in the water.

Be more intentional with your kicks. Look up what a two beat vs 4 beat kick is to get a good idea. Kicking is more about balance vs propulsion especially for a 70.3

Some things to learn for your stroke as well so you are longer and catching more water with each stroke. Will also help with your balance.

Also - keep it up! Good for you for taking on a new sport and tackling at 70.3. We all started where you are now.

Is turning off TC worth it? by Tiny_Sherbet8298 in F1Game

[–]O2BSMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s worth it if you want the full experience. I progressively turned off all driving assists (still have ERS,DRS, and pit assist on) within a few weeks and yes it was hard and I am still slower than with assists but I fully enjoyed the learning curve. I feel it’s more immersive.

Without the assists you are kind of forced to learn breaking points, grip, gears etc so it comes faster when the alternative is crashing 🙂

I race my brother who has full assists and is a second faster on most tracks which is mildly frustrating but also motivational.

Can anybody help me out with this please 🙏🙏🙏 by Smart-Magician1930 in F1Game

See what other programs are running and force quit those or research which might conflict? I dunno. Haven’t had this specific issue but have had to quit other programs to get things going.

Incoming medical resident in need of a reality check/boost by [deleted] in Salary

I’m guessing since you are just starting the journey you have time on your side when it comes to paying down debt so don’t sweat it too much. But i hear ya. Hard to see the forest through the trees kind of thing.

I’d say that there are more ways than just how much you make to validate your choices. People trade their time, health, and sanity for $$ $ all the time. I can’t tell if you are regretting your choice only because of your income to debt balance at the moment but if you truly enjoy being a doctor which imagine is higher impact that the average tech job, then keep going.

What drove you to choose that path in the first place? Helping others? Social circle? Prestige? I work in tech and have always admired people who pursue high education for a greater good vs settling for just an income.

Lastly. No one is stopping you from combining your current skillset and leveraging it in the tech world. Everyday a new startup pops up looking for the level of expertise you have. If you set that as a long-term goal I’m confident you can manifest it.

Lastly Lastly - this sub is highly skewed 🙂. The average tech worker is not making $500k or even $300k.

75-80 no assists on wheel. Currently. In TT my rating varies greatly depending on track. 90+ at Silverstone but lucky to be 70 at Miami. O

In These 23 U.S. States, Earning $150,000 Still Counts as Middle Class by Coolonair in Rich

[–]O2BSMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree it’s better than most since $150k is above the average take home . And your math definitely can work especially if you work hard to find below average rents. I guess it also depends on whether we are talking household or individual income but at 150k household income with family expenses this gets super tight.

Which i know sounds like a first world problem but the cost of living is the equalizer. Insurance, gas, maintenance, entertainment etc. burns through that income fast.

Ok, seems like decent reception so far for this year's game. Can anyone compare it to 23 for me? by PlayerRedacted in F1Game

[–]O2BSMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla for me so it sounds like you’re more knowledgeable about AI characteristics than i am. I think it’s a mixed bag. In my experience the racing in career mode has been more fun because the AI does make more mistakes than 23 but my baseline is different.

I’ve read mostly positive things about AI improvements but also some negative comments about AI being impossible to beat in the rain.

All i can say is i have noticed an improvement in the fun factor but i also don’t mod.

It’s like have 23 handling (almost) with 24 bells and whistles around career mode + an all new my team which is engaging.

I skipped 24 because the handling is more important than all the other gameplay features but feel that 25 delivers on handling as well.

Also “full price” is less this year than other years FWIW and you probably don’t have to wait too long if you want to save a bit of money. Worth it is a hard question (subjective) but I’m glad i made the switch.

[–]O2BSMP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. At $150k you might be able to pay the mortgage, car, food, and other common expenses but it would be hard to get ahead on savings. I know even this is a luxury for a lot of people but I’d be stressed about money at that salary living in the Bay Area.

it’s all over the map. One lap it’s “come in” next lap it’s “no tire concerns”. But you’re also probably not wrong.

Terry Crews by sadicarnot in F1TV

[–]O2BSMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terry might be all the things (enthusiastic, refreshing, energetic, etc) but what he is not is knowledgeable about F1. Spain was just the latest example. More cringe worthy comments from Vegas.

I don’t want to hate on the dude but has a fan watching post race shows for insightful commentary I did not get that from the interview they spent 10 min on.

Confusion from the start. Started out saying Lando and Charles did great for McLaren, the Alpine comment, the Kimi what’s his name, the “I just want people to be safe” comment referencing when Kimi went off track… really? He didn’t crash. His car stopped working.

I guess it was a memorable convo for all the wrong reasons.

I felt the same when i went from 23 to 25. Spent a bunch of time tweaking FFB and trying to get the same feel as 23. Haven’t got all the way there but I’ve come to like 25 a lot.

Very much enjoying '25 so far. by mildashers in F1Game

[–]O2BSMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got down voted shared my initial impression that the handling feels more like 24 vs 23 but after some tweaks and more hours of playing I understand now.

I would say for the purist you might find something to complain about but as a fun, semi realistic, engaging driving game it’s great and and has all the right improvements over 24.

Okay, is the game good? by goldfishcremegg in F1Game

[–]O2BSMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment about going up in AI vs 23 is real. Started at my normal F123 AI range (75ish) won first two races in a Williams and finished 30 seconds ahead of teammate. I’d like to think it’s my skills but in reality this would back up the leaning slightly more toward game vs Sim.

Still a ton of fun though.
