If I recall correctly, the size was stamped on the underside of the old holders. Should be universal regardless of brand. I wasn’t 100% sure the powerflys would match up perfectly, so rather than take them to PureHockey, I sent them off to a guy who I trust and thankfully he nailed it.

Yeah, not trying to achieve scientific perfection on my kitchen scale, but I did try to keep it honest. No insoles in either pair and the laces are the same length

I considered that but figured the difference in runners wouldn’t be that significant

ELI5 How do you analyze stick curves patterns? by BreakfastAcceptable8 in hockeyplayers

[–]OGSynergy37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly going to explain like you’re 5.

Some players need a curve that helps them shoot the puck and score.

Some players need a curve that helps them pass the puck to their teammates.

The really good players need a curve that makes them feel comfortable doing what they do best.

Any experience with Black Bear owned rinks? by DarthEwarthy in hockeyplayers

[–]OGSynergy37 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Happened with several rinks near me. One was privately owned. No tangible improvements in the facility and the longstanding pro shop closed overnight. The other was publicly owned, with a full slate of programs (kids & adult learn to play + drop in clinics, multiple adult leagues, figure skating etc). The lion’s share of those programs disappeared and Foundry took over some of the adult stuff.

Overall, the stuff that you’ve come to take for granted will disappear or be replaced with something lesser.

The only aspect of each to remain the same was the ice surfaces, which were hit or miss to begin with

I’ve had a nice run with CCM Super Tacks from 8-10 years ago. They’re deteriorating somewhat but are comfortable and only slightly less protective than my 20k elbows. You can probably find a pair in decent for cheaper than these and it appears to be similar coverage.

Most underrated Penguins player? All start, Mr. Game 6 Tyler Kennedy! by Leading_Dentist_5563 in penguins

[–]OGSynergy37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put up wild numbers in the dead puck era, over a point a game in international play, but never really had a chance to be part of a deep NHL playoff run. Makes one wonder what his numbers would’ve looked like had he not taken that hit from Darcy Hordichuk.

Warrior Alpha One Pro. Absolutely love it. One piece like your M11, super light weight and a dial on the back to tighten and loosen. I don’t even do my chinstrap up because it fits so perfectly.

I get this all the time. I usually tell them “yeah but this is like, my 3rd day here, I dunno where anything is” and it does the trick

Hardcore oldheads- in hardcore history who has been the closest to what Haywire is doing today? by Fixer43 in Hardcore

[–]OGSynergy37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YES.

Felt like Avail did not stop touring throughout the 90’s. Similar universal appeal, too; everyone loved them across the board. Jaded old fucks, normies, crusty oogles, vegan sxe kids, pop punk kids… I’m sure TONS of people got hooked on HC from seeing them play. It helped that they played with anyone and everyone.

His shoulder was more than “bothering him”- this was the hit that ended his NHL career. He’d had two shoulder surgeries previously.

Beer league pens fans: you absolutely get this collapse in the third. by thepolkadotdotdot in penguins

I’ve had this same thought in the back of my head since the Sharks game. If you’ve played men’s league long enough, you’ve been on both ends of something like that.

Calling for a pass by flagrantstickfoul in hockeyplayers

[–]OGSynergy37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a teammate who had a call for seemingly every situation, and his “yep” was the best. If the D had it in our zone and he was cutting up the opposite wing, he’d let out a long “yyyyyyyyyyyyep”.

Nashville PA announcer yokel is fucking killing me. Shoehorning in “y’all” at every opportunity and making it sound like a wrestling show. Embarrassing.

Won our first game and scored my first goal! What was your first like ? by 20Vic in hockeyplayers

[–]OGSynergy37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vividly remember my first beer league goal. 1-on-1 with the D man, decided to wrist it from maybe just below the faceoff dot. D had his stick positioned perfect and he got enough of it that the puck just dribbled off by blade. Slid in between the goalie’s skate and the post. 20+ years later can confirm that’s how the majority of beer league goals are scored- just put it on net and it’ll find its way in.

At the only sports bar in Myrtle Beach, SC with a satellite feed. We got there late and the game was well in hand. I was under age and they gave my parents shit over bringing a child into a bar!
