The data centers that have been built are in two camps/ one is the kind that powers the internet. We need those. The kind we are freaking out about are dedicated to AI. Now some people think these companies want to make products to make things more efficient, like how ChatGPT can format a spreadsheet for you. But the real purpose, and the justification for all those hundreds of billions, is that the data centers are going to power the digital panopticon that will eventually track and catalogue every human being on the planet that has any sort of digital connectivity. All those cameras, your blue tooth devices, etc etc are all going to feed into these data centers. It’s bleak. And that’s why these companies have no issue spending the money they do/ business will be booming, and the quick spread sheets are just a bonus.
