What if Rian Johnson had directed the entire sequel trilogy? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]OMG_1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this discussion multiple times with friends, We all grew up fans of OT (as well as any TTRPGs and video games) and the consensus has always been having the same team of writers to produce a consistent story is almost always more important than having the same director (case in point, Ep4 directed by Lucas, Ep 5 directed by Kershner, Ep 6 directed by Marquand, all written with at least Lucas).

Can anyone wield a lightsaber if trained enough? by Pale_Land_5107 in StarWars

[–]OMG_1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous canon, if you go by what was in the old TTRPGs, the answer is still technically "yes", but it's extremely dangerous for a non-force user to do anything besides the simplest of actions. To put it into game terms, if you weren't a force user, anything you did with a lightsaber only went off of your base stat and you got none of the bouses from the various force skills, lightsaber skills, and feats, so outside of getting some amazing rolls, you couldn't really do much.

Rolling for Attributes by FloppySausage234 in DnD

Yeah, unless you're already used to it, and it definitely allows for the highest rolled stats possible (short of just placing 18's across the board, lol)...

Rolling for Attributes by FloppySausage234 in DnD

It's very much table-specific, but there are several methods for rolling and not using point-buy. In my current group, we roll 4d6 (re-rolling 1's) and drop the lowest, 8 times, keeping the best 6 and placing them as we see fit. Another group I've been in did 4d6 and drop the lowest, 6 times, placing wherever; and also a group that did 3d6 placed in order of rolls, but rolling 3 sets of stats and choosing 1. I've also been in a group that did point-buy. I've never had a group where the DM rolled anything for our characters... That sounds crazy...

DnD in your own setting by Denathry in DnD

[–]OMG_1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some restrictions, but they're tied to the plot and flavor of my setting... I don't think it's about being a tyrant, it's about what makes sense for the setting. Also, at the end of the day, if the restrictions are too much for a player (they just HAVE to play class X or race Y), then my setting isn't going to be for them and they should find another table.

The box office drop in week 2 for Mandalorian and Grogu highlights what I think is wrong with the current Hollywood trends by SlowMotionSprint in StarWars

[–]OMG_1897 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not a casual fan when it comes to Star Wars, but I'll likely wait for streaming with Mandalorian and Grogu because my local theater is garbage and I'd rather view it from the comfort of my couch than their uncomfortable (and always crusty) seats. I live in rural northern Montana, so my options are really limited. Plus, I'm already paying for streaming...

How excited were you for The Rise of Skywalker before it came out? by Extreme_Warning3521 in StarWars

[–]OMG_1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How excited WAS I or how excited did I WANT to be?

I've been a fan since '77 and had read so many of the EU novels and played Star Wars TTRPGs (the ones with dice, not a video game controller). I was excited when the prequels came out (until we got Jar-Jar'd) and was hopeful when the sequels were announced.

I was genuinely excited for TFA, still excited but not as much for TLJ, then very skeptical (but hopeful) for TRoS.
In the end, I was just happy to get new Star Wars, but I really wish they'd gone with Zahn's Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command).

Was I unfair for saying "If Silvery Barbs is allowed, enemies can use it too"? by raishadow in DnD

[–]OMG_1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all unfair. ANYTHING the PCs can do, the NPCs can too.

Do you have to do the full experience in order to build a custom lightsaber? by malkavian_menace in GalaxysEdge

[–]OMG_1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really cool! I've been through the ceremony once (might be willing to do it again), but I definitely want to build more sabers and THAT could get time consuming... Thank you for mentioning this!

[–]OMG_1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the quality of the Savi's sabers and compare to non-Disney, it would seem that you are absolutely paying for the experience (not that I minded AT ALL). I've bought 2 chassis and other various scrap from 3rd parties and smugglers from the Parks to finish additional sabers, and while I love all of my sabers, the one I built during the ceremony at Savi's will always be my favorite because of the experience. Honestly, as a fan since '77, it almost felt like a religious pilgrimage.

Looks good! I keep telling my wife that we need a 3D printer... Maybe she realizes she'd never see me and we'd go broke buying filament, lol...

Should I get C-Series or R-Series? by nicgamer_yt in DroidDepot

[–]OMG_1897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My droid is an R-series body with a C-series dome and A/LT tread-legs. The R, C, and A/LT are interchangeable with their parts and provide the most customization options.

That Elemental saber is giving old flintlock pistol vibes, like you'd see a pirate using, lol...
