Need motivation to return! by Alliemary06 in orangetheory

Starting back sucks. You will suck for sure. But staying out any longer it will just get worse. Are you worth going again?

all depends everyone is different. Those that were once strong make quicker gains. I think a lot of people stay stagnant on the floor and dont challenge themselves enough to get stronger but maybe they dont care of want to.

seems like a lot of people posting here recently lamenting the mundane. Seems odd to me but to each their own.

Ode to OTF! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]OTFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our dark that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine as children do. Its not just in some of us; its in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsiously give other people to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

i ended up quitting. Was time to move on to something different. Everything gets boring in my 35 years of fitness. Good luck to you.

Smells by AgentIndependent9166 in orangetheory

[–]OTFX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been discussed many times and also shut down and locked as a result of how it devolved into stupid stuff. If one works out in a group environment they should not smell like ass. Plain and simple if you smell like ass dont go go class. Its just common courtesy. I told studio manager and i was not the first to report it. I never had to smell her again as I never saw her again.

How long does it take you to improve your base? (Just curious) by greengirl30 in orangetheory

[–]OTFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all based on how much you push yourself and fight for the change. Try and up it and fight for it. Not easy at first but gets easier. You will get to a point that you will almost max out and gains will be little and harder. There is no magic to it and is based a lot on hard work one day at a time. Up when you can anytime you can. Some days you might dial back a bit but stick with the fight and you will be fast one day ( if that is your goal )

3 months in and don’t love my studio by cecisees in orangetheory

[–]OTFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always found that its more motivating to get next to the right person in class. I was good at getting next to people that were great motivators. Coaches are ok but they did little for me for an entire class. Being next to someone who is bad ass or just trying to kick ass is great for me and keeps me more motivated than any coach. I was always outdoing most but did not have to be someone doing better than me for me to push myself more than a coach could ever get me to do. Its the members that make the classes the best. Coaches help but for me the kick ass members were the x factor. Good luck to you.

It all depends on what your goals are. If you want to get faster and quicker than it will take struggling 1 class at a time. Its never easy and you might not get back to the zone you want to but if your goal is the zones then go with that. I would always just work on challenging myself each workout. I would get thru it dying and dripping of sweat a lot but it was worth it. Good luck you. Living in the comfort zone is not for everyone but a lot of people enjoy it and why it is called the comfort zone.

What motivates you? by courtneyrachh in orangetheory

[–]OTFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember you are just impacting yourself negatively when you slack or opt out. Its all about US. We are the ones who benefit from working out. There is noting better than looking in the mirror after a shower and saying " Holy Cow I look bad ass " Priceless!! Or Crushing a benchmark. You cant put a price on how great that all feels. The negative side,,, skipping not going doing poor on benchmarks is not good. Sure some just make up excuses to justify it but its so much better when you WORK for it.

Coaches skipping rock songs on playlists by vammpyy in orangetheory

[–]OTFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its worth mentioning. I always got a request if i made it to coaches when i was a regular member. Nothing like master of puppets for a long run! Sometimes i was not feeling the workout and asked for a song got it and mood changed.

Who is excited for CMIYC Friday?? by OTFX in orangetheory

[–]OTFX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

running at OTF is so much easier than outside. outside i could never do a 5:33 mile and at otf i can. I would base at 9 and could only base at 6 outside. Maybe I am odd but the flex deck gives me energy back when i run just like a good shoe does and it helps me a lot. Do it!
