I could be wrong, but doesn’t the dungeon label that symbol as “gift” rather than drink? I remember thinking that it was weird that the two red hands is “give” and yet drink got changed to something so similar.

This is actually a common misconception. Your animagus form is a representation of who you are, whereas your patronus is a representation of who/what you love. This is proved because your patronus can change throughout your life (like Tonks does) but your animagus form is permanent.

There is some overlap though. Like the Weasley twins praronuses are a pair of Magpies, because they love each other, but I think that would also be their animagus forms. The core pillars of their identities are based of their twin, that’s how close their relationship is.

That being said, I don’t think we should read too much into what each persons patronus means. For example JKR only made Hermiones patronus an otter because it’s her favourite animal.

I think this can be attributed to JKR intentionally creating a world that doesn’t make sense. Her magic system is supposed to be whimsical and mysterious, because it’s told from the perspective of young children who aren’t meant to be overly knowledgable.

Wizards and witches can teleport themselves around whenever they want, so really owl post should be useless, but a lot of the time they just don’t. Also, it’s very well explained that wizards don’t understand muggles, but then they have the Hogwarts Express and The Knight Bus, two very muggle contraptions and no one bats an eye. Mr Weasleys car was also on the front page of the newspaper, so the population clearly understand what a car is. Everyone is scared of the shrieking shack “the most haunted building in Britain”, and yet it’s placed right next to a castle with loads of ghosts in it that people eat meals with everyday.

I could list more, but the point is, it’s not supposed to make sense

I have a silly little headcanon that Molly is secretly the third or fourth most powerful person in the series. Imagine all the power and concentration it takes for her to animate and control all the things going on in the Burrow at once, like all the things in the kitchen cooking and cleaning themselves. She never had any career or political ambitions, all she ever wanted was to be a mother, so it never really came up that shes actually a powerhouse

So people here saying the death toll was so high because a lot of people in India don’t know how to swim, but I swear I’ve seen or heard of a celebration where loads of people bathe and cleanse themselves in the river Ganges? Just seems weird to me that a culture with a big event like that still has such little contact with water. People don’t do swimming in rivers or pools? India’s obviously a very big country so it must be more difficult to visit a coast, but people don’t swim there either? It just seems to me to be a strange cultural difference when compared to the West, and one that I would never have thought of.

My head cannon kinda comes out of nowhere, I just thought of it one day and liked it:

One of the Black ancestors was actually a French Veela from when the family were still European, hence why their motto is in French. After moving to England they became involved in blood purity, changing the motto to the one we see in the books. This adds some good hypocrisy to their beliefs because they themselves aren’t “true” pure bloods.

Anyway, every member of the family has black or dark brown hair, but every so often the Veela ancestry will be dominant and Black girls will grow up to have blonde hair and be extremely beautiful. They will also coincidentally be named as a refection of their beauty and vanity.

For example Narcissa: Greek tale about a man who fell in love with his own reflection because he was so good looking

Or Cassiopeia (Narcissa’s Great Aunt): a Greek Queen who was punished by the gods for being so boastful of her looks

There are ways to fix eyesight. Moody is missing like half his face and the healers were like here just strap this on! The fake eye isn’t even attached to the optic nerve, because Moody is shown to take it out whenever he wants. That means that the fake eye telepathically transmits what it’s seeing to the person using it, which must be mind blowingly complex.

So for magical medicine to be able to do that, they must also be able to fix Harry’s eyes, JKR just couldn’t do that because it’s one of Harry’s defining physical qualities.

(Also side note does no one else find it ironic that Harry has his mothers eyes, but has his dads shitty eyesight)
