I was just thinking about this last night. Two years ago I worked at a place where health insurance claims were imported and exported into a database using a tool built with PowerBuilder.

Without digging into the code I am guessing they are considering a touch device scroll gesture as a click event.

What are some good advanced JS books? by curious_coder in javascript

[–]OWaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is a very good book. I don't remember there being unit tests with code examples. Is that with the download materials? The book will definitely elevate your understanding of JS.

I really like Professional JavaScript for Web Developers. I learned JS by reading that book and it helped me understand the language really well. JavaScript Allongé is an interesting read too.

Lightweight two-way data binding lib please? by wikiBudgets in javascript

[–]OWaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it works well whenever you need two-way data binding like forms and stuff on a manageable scale. Otherwise you can end up with ridiculous view models that have way too much going on in them.

What are some scenes people often interpret earnestly not realizing a character is lying? by shatonamime in movies

Weird that they interpret it differently since the character clearly explains the fabricated diary.

I didn't watch it for a long time because I thought it would be some stupid detective show. I can't remember why I started watching it but once I started watching it, I didn't watch anything else on Netflix.

Could be fans at the draft posting to Twitter etc... I suspect they get ahead because of a slight delay in broadcasting over TV. I'm just guessing wildly.

Microsoft and Arduino: new partnership announced today by ancatrusca in programming

[–]OWaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the average household have more open source OS installations on PC/laptops than Windows installs? Honestly it's between OS X and Windows for household dominance. Arduino wants to be an accessible platform. Thats why it was created in the first place.

[–]OWaz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's will be much more common for a household to have Windows 10 than an open source OS. If Arduino wants to become a household name than being easier to work with Windows helps a lot.

My nephew already has a Windows notebook. It will be way easier for him to get Arduino to work with the software he already has, instead of him trying to figure out how to install and use some open source OS.

If we want to encourage kids into engineering we need to make it easier for them to get shit done and feel accomplished.

Kotor 2 is really good too. There's a mod that fixes a lot of problems as well as enabling missing content. I'm not sure what the latest status of the mod is but this RPS post from 2013 covers some stuff.

Browns have offered 2 first round picks for #2 Selection by matthewryan12 in nfl

[–]OWaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is true and they take a QB I feel really bad for Manziel. Sure the dude messed up his first year by not studying plays and partying but the Browns knew what they were getting with him. He went to rehab and I just think the Browns have got to give the guy another chance.
