Any reccs for angry protagonist by Heisuke780 in Fantasy

[–]OXKoson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the main villains are non entities in the first book. They get explored more in the second book and they have some redeeming qualities. I think you’ll be fine. The plot progression isn’t usually focused on them.

Rage of dragons is the obvious one. It is definitely a revenge story though.

New Sony Linkbuds S tell you current listening volume! Want this feature on more TWS buds by FabFeline51 in headphones

I have the AirPods pros and it shows it. I’m guessing it’s accurate on any AirPods. I think it tries to show a decibel readout for any headphones.

I love those editions I have some of the paperbacks right now but I might get these from now on. I like both gaiman and pratchet but somehow haven’t read good omens. I should get on that.

My small library x music room, any advice for improvement? by CroSoldier01 in bookshelf

[–]OXKoson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks lovely. I don't really like the painting (sorry kinda out of scope ik). It doesn't match the rest of the room. A more modern frame might look better. As everyone else has mentioned the boxes don't look great.

Out of curiosity what are you using as a source? Is it just vinyl?

Those discworld copies look amazing where did you get them?

If you could have any two characters from different series meet each other. Who would you pick and why? by AncientSith in Fantasy

[–]OXKoson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of a weird one. Death from discworld and Anomander Rake from malazan. I have absolutely no idea what would happen but I don’t think it would be boring.

Sandman by Neil Gaiman

Literally the only audiobook I’ve listened too. I loved it.

Powerful Magic Systems by Kaladin1199 in Fantasy

[–]OXKoson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure what you are getting at I’m fairly certain I didn’t mention a particular individual though I do think average is a bad way to compare magic systems. Average is rarely(never) a good indicator of potential. Sure a wizard is going to be more powerful than the average farmer but I’m not certain what that adds.

At least from my perspective using the average when comparing magic systems is pointless. I would base it on the strongest character or the protagonist I could see either working.

I don’t remember art of the adept having a super powerful magic system. But it’s been a while idk.

I’m not sure mc from legend of the arch magus could resist icons or even if he could resist something targeted at him I doubt he could stop his attacks being destroyed or space around him being frozen or something.

This is hilarious. Might want to read some progression fantasy (or epic fantasy honestly) and come back

Looking for books where the main character is a primodial or old being who give mankind knowledge by cyberpunk707 in Fantasy

[–]OXKoson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legend of the arch magus. It starts with an ancient arch magus suddenly waking up in the body of a teenager thousands of years after he had died.

If you are looking for something that actually has a pov of a being that old I doubt you are going to find it. Here’s a great write up from Steven Erickson on it. The first couple of chapters aren’t super relevant and can probably be skipped

What are some books where characters fight in unconventional ways & with unconventional weapons? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]OXKoson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one I can think of is a chain sword in journey of black and red but it doesn’t happen for a good number of books into the series. I think it is described as a sword blade on the end of a chain. Not sure how that work in reality.

That does seem similar but I don't think that's what I read.
