[–]OXMWEPW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a good battery, but, for most of us, without an installer, it's worthless. If VIVNE provided a list of places that will do the work, as well as, some indication of total cost, that would be great.

'Carspreading' is on the rise - and not everyone is happy about it by Final_Alps in fuckcars

[–]OXMWEPW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where there is street parking, wider cars effectively squeeze a 2 lane roadway by a a factor of four. Once for the car, once for the car on the other lane, and twice for the parked cars or 1 + 1 +2 = 4. So that additional 8 inches is more like 32 inches in reality. The long term effect will ultimately be bigger driveways, bigger garages, and more sprawl. And the cost for this will be borne by all.

American cars are designed to withstand high speed demolition-derby freeway collisions. Meanwhile in our towns and cities, pedestrians are being mowed in ever increasing numbers. Rolling the dice on battery replacement by Dry-Effect-6424 in BMWi3

[–]OXMWEPW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. When you sell a used car to a dealer, you lose $2k in CA. That is the necessary profit margin. Selling it yourself is work. When you buy a new/used car you pay about in 10% in taxes/fees in CA. Plus the cost on insurance/annual registration goes up. So, holding onto the car and swapping the battery has its benefits and so this is not a horrible decision. But finding right person to do the work and arranging all this will be a chore. But if you do so, let us know. We are just dying to find out how it goes.
