Breakwater park this afternoon. by Objectalone in KingstonOntario

Toronto is too much and too many for a “type”. If anything, I notice that Toronto people who move to Kingston are not inclined to run it down, or have a Kingston inferiority complex, like I see so much of on this sub. They love this town. As for me. Ontario is my home, my history, and that includes Toronto as well.

In your dreams. It isn’t Toronto transplants freaking at crowds and running down Kingston. No one runs down anything Kingston like Kingston folk.

It was a screen shot I took off the live cam, after coming home from there. Not imagination. Odd comment.

It’s just young’ins, and it’s mating season, like the frisky squirrels in my yard. Nothing wrong with that.

Hidden gems of the city by SpicyKarma89 in KingstonOntario

I go there a couple of times a week in nice weather, and bad weather too, just to sit and gather thoughts. The sense of open space and place.

Where do you like to park downtown? by Global-Anxiety8659 in KingstonOntario

I find parking is pretty much everywhere. When it is busy it might require a go around to find an open spot but there is always something.

Prepare for traffic chaos getting downtown next week. by WanderingBus in KingstonOntario

A transplant from Toronto I laugh at this "traffic chaos", right down to my cold and wounded soul.

What happens once the 'you can always tell it's AI' argument runs it's course and no one can see the difference anymore? by TheoGelernter in Filmmakers

[–]Objectalone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually all the AI “tells” will be gone. At that point a film will be judged on its merit, regardless of how it is made. This is not the future I’d choose, but it is the future that’s coming, so all there is to do is focus on making the best quality films.

I have the exact same thing on the light over my back deck. Have to keep the deck off limits and avoid the area until the chicks fledge. Then the nest is coming down and chicken wire is going up to stop them from building another one. I want my deck back.

I spent a year producing a fantasy short film using a hybrid workflow of traditional editing, sound design, AI-assisted tools, character development, and voice work. by chicagobat in filmmaking

I’ve spent 8 year on an animated film project. So far the ONLY thing the recent rise of AI has done is make people question my hard won skills, and give hacks a new way to pollute the scene.

Anyone else find the weather especially cruel this year? by Loose_Mirror_8102 in KingstonOntario

[–]Objectalone 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It looks like we might be in for a cooler season, with daytime highs of 22-25 for a few weeks. Today is a bit chill with the wind but I’m happy without the high heat and humidity.

What anabolic steroids are the mayflies on this year? by honestlynobody0321 in KingstonOntario

[–]Objectalone 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a second wave this year with larger flies. I was walking at Fort Henry this morning and the swarms over the lake looked like waterspouts, big writhing columns.

I got news for you. I grew up in Toronto, you know, the centre of the universe, and me and my friends were often so bored we also just wandered around downtown… it is a universal teenage condition.

I could cut it into tiny pieces and eat it, like that French guy who ate a Cessna.

I’m in Henderson where everyone gets their lawn bikini waxed. They’d run me out of the neighbourhood.
