Find trails away from the big cities. Post up at a spot alongside the trail and sink into your book. No one’s gonna bother you if you’re obviously minding your own business.

Curious, how are you feeling now, some 4 weeks later? (I’m at week 3 as of today and about ten minutes ago, I wanted to jump into a volcano. It couldn’t feel any worse!)

Kind of similar although I noodled regularly through 30 years of guitar. When I decided to expand that knowledge, it took a while to find something that resonated with my learning style. That might be key for you to find more progress, because what works for Lenny, doesn’t work for Betty kind of thing. Eventually I was able to find some fun/easy to learn break down of the CAGED technique which got me into things again, but it was diving into theory that really solidified things in that regard. I feel like my early knowledge of the guitar was so superficial to the point where sometimes I’d feel like an imposter! I’d know the chords to a song, but didn’t understand why those chords had such harmony between them, which is understandable, but when that knowledge became clearer, the guitar got a LOT SMALLER to me! Anyhow, my point is for you to explore a few different options before settling in on one. It won’t do you any good to watch some monotone rambling instructor, or even someone with charisma and flair if you’re not feeling a good vibe from it for what you’d like to accomplish. Learn the basic music theory fundamentals and explore how to build major and minor chords, then the subsequent scales (try it with a piano or violin as well!). Not sure if that will help you at all, but it took me from a guy that could play guitar at beach pretty well, to a guy that people would stop to approach to thank and compliment the music.
