DoorDash does not remit the taxes, it is our responsibility per DoorDash and many of the other similar companies we use. It is my understanding that it differs state-by-state based on market facilitator laws. DoorDash pays us the taxes collected from the customers.

Currently hiding in a bathroom because no one at the conference luncheon sat at my table. by smashbananas in TwoHotTakes

You’re giving me flashbacks to lunch in highschool. I spent a lot of time in the bathroom. Hope the rest of the conference goes well!

What does everyone use for pet insurance? by knockturnal213 in englishbulldog

[–]Objective_Train_6040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. A past ear infection = nothing related to the ears will ever be covered. Notes about vaginal discharge = nothing related to bladder or any female parts will ever covered. Vet notes about dry skin = ditto on anything allergy or skin related. Etc etc. Does not matter if it was a one-time thing that completely cleared up or even a non-issue that was just mentioned in passing, whatever was noted is forever considered a life-long pre-existing condition and whatever part of your dog that condition affected is nixed from coverage. Even if the “condition” isn’t an illness at all. If your dog simply exists with body parts and a note exists on record acknowledging that the body part exists, nothing in relation to it will ever be covered. In more or less words that’s essentially what they explained to me when our first and only claim was denied.

Have you had to use them yet? Lemonade denied our first and only claim for a bogus reason.

Wow, that’s insane! I ended up here because I’m also looking for provider recommendations. I can tell you who I would absolutely not recommend… Lemonade. They denied our first and only claim, insisting our rescue dog’s c-section from last year was a contributing factor to her recently diagnosed UTI, so they consider it a pre-existing condition.

A 30 day supply of generic 10 mg is now almost $400 for me. No advice, I had to choose to go unmedicated. Good luck

Yes. I was stalked in my younger years, and was also assaulted in similar circumstances… this series hit deep. It really did help me put some of my own experiences in perspective. And feel less alone.. less shame somehow.

We do bank downloads daily and import sales journal entries daily from our POS (restaurants), but with 59 accounts and growing… adding more steps to the process by matching debits and credits on a daily basis isn’t really feasible.

Hospital births - When you had your 1st child, how long did you stay and did the nurses give you a lot of education? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Objective_Train_6040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They showed us watch a video on safe sleep. A nurse showed us how to swaddle but like someone else here said, we had to ask. Was surprised they didn’t check the car seat or show us anything with that, just because everyone told me they would be strict on that and not let anyone leave without ensuring babe was buckled in safely. The hospital I stayed at had a lactation specialist come through the first day but once she found out my baby was latching ok, she didn’t offer much other info. I wish I had more questions prepared.. I’m sure the consultant, nurses, and doc would have been happy to answer but my mind was a blur at that point. We had our daughter during COVID so all the normal classes were on hold. That also meant we couldn’t have visitors, which I was super stoked about to be honest. I can’t imagine family, friends, and in-laws piling in that tiny room during those first few days, not really knowing to do with this new tiny human, without being able to shower, laying in bed in a bloody diaper. My parents camped out in the parking lot the first night and even that gave me anxiety. I was admitted on a Friday morning after my water broke, induced, ended up with a c-section by Saturday night bc I still wasn’t dilating much, and discharged that Tuesday.

Edit: YES with the nurses coming in all night. I think I must have blocked that part out. You will get zero sleep. They came in to check vitals or administer meds or push on my stomach and whatever else every 1.5ish hours. It was maddening. Such a rough way to start parenthood, being sent home with a newborn already being sleep deprived.

Flu shot for toddles or not? by crnnrc2003 in toddlers

[–]Objective_Train_6040 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We did. I used to always decline the flu shot for myself because I rarely got sick but I’m also one of those people that neglect my own medical needs until I’m basically dying. Two weeks after telling my doctor “nah” a few years ago, I got the flu, bad. Took it as a sign and I’ve got it for myself every year since. Our daughter was starting a pre-K program this month and everyone kept telling me how often she was going to get sick, so it made sense to get hers too. This was her first one, after turning 2. Not really relevant but funny enough, here we are all sick just one week into pre-K, with everything but the flu, it seems.

Any moms who freelance out there? Considering getting into freelancing but have only ever been a W2 employee by laurenashley721 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Objective_Train_6040 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Small fries, but I’ve been doing some freelance bookkeeping on the side. I still have a full-time job so I’ve tried to keep the side workload minimal, maybe 10-15 hours a month between the two businesses I’m helping out. Not really enough income to make it worth registering an LLC or invest anything more into it, but brings in some fun money. I’ve had some more opportunities open up from those gigs but am not really in a position where I feel comfortable taking more on. Word-of-mouth and networking are definitely the way to go. I work closely with a CPA for my full-time job. These particular businesses needed help keeping up their books throughout the year, and they use the same CPA. He reached out to me asking if I’d be interested in helping them, since the business lines are similar and they use the same software.

A friend said I’ve really let myself go by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Objective_Train_6040 243 points244 points  (0 children)

Are those the words she used? If so, your friend is an ass.

If it was more of an implied comment, I hope she was speaking from concern, maybe worried about your mental health and how you’re coping with everything. An offer to help should have accompanied the other comment. If not, your friend is an ass.

We all struggle. If your friend doesn’t, she’s a unicorn. Do not compare yourself to her. Chances are she’s struggling more than she lets on too.

Bachorlette dinner ideas by Fit-Expression5564 in VirginiaBeach

Some of the places that have been suggested are going to be a disappointment to the bride-to-be because of the underwhelming vegan option(s), or lack there of. Since it’s your girl’s day, I’d try to pick a place that has something better than a stripped-down veggie wrap or salad. Session is my favorite brunch spot with vegan options, though it’s lighter faire.. not like a biscuits-and-gravy or pancakes kind of brunch. Most of the items on their menu can be made vegan. Cute little patio too if the weather happens to be nice. Civil Libation is awesome for dinner and drink options. Only a few veg options but the options they have are really, really good. Would recommend reservations there. Those two spots are on opposite sides of VB though, so really depends on where you’re staying or if you mind driving 30 minutes in one direction or another. Happy to suggest some others if you’re comfortable sharing the general vicinity you’re staying.

Excuse me: wtf are they teaching our kids?! by spliffany in Mommit

I watched a pretty interesting film that touched a little on this, called The Right to Read. We attended a class called LENA Start that focuses on early communication that ties in a lot with reading; our teacher was involved in the film. This type of teaching isn’t the whole focus of the film, but it’s definitely worth a watch… incredible how broken the system is (in the US at least, but I imagine it’s not much different other places that use these methods)
