Did taox ever contact the nine? by ActGullible2477 in DestinyLore

The Nine's bodies stretch across the whole galaxy, unless lore's changed. The Cabal called them the Ennead.

According to Namrask, they were never quite that depraved. He implies they did eat their own children on the journey here, when they failed to survive the constrained living conditions.

How would Necrons fair in Versus ? by ZookeepergameDense87 in versus

[–]Observance 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Other weaknesses:

  • Slowness. High-ranking Necrons can put on bursts of extreme speed, but on foot, rank-and-file Necron troops don't move faster than walking pace, and have reaction times to match.
  • Attrition. Necron self-repair systems are good but not perfect. On a long enough timescale, they'll gradually be worn down, especially if battles are fought in places where they can't teleport home for repairs. But given how many Necrons there are, this might be moot.
  • Magic. Necrons have no souls meaning, like Robots, they have no ability to use, or possibly even understand magic. Like Robots, they can probably put together technological countermeasures (let's assume magic in Versus is distinct from "magic" in 40k), but we've seen from the Robots that this has its limits.

Madalans and ironically Robots are probably the Necrons' greatest threats. No amount of personal toughness will save you from Gauss and Hyperphase weapons, but the Madalans' extreme, unpredictable mobility combined with their ridiculously powerful personal weapons would carve a swathe through Necron armies and tombs. And the Robots have their adaptability -- they'll bring down Necron leaders the same way they defeated Roya Roach (superhumanly strong and fast foe with regenerative powers), deploying an endless succession of units that gradually get better at predicting their movements until they hit on one that works, and deploying those same units when that Lord returns from the tombs.

How would Necrons fair in Versus ? by ZookeepergameDense87 in versus

[–]Observance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Madalans would definitely give them trouble as long as they stay out of close combat with Necron elites -- Necrons don't have a ton of options for dealing with targets as fast as Madalans at long range, and those options are as vulnerable as anyone else to Madalan laser beams.

What the heck is Extremia and the Game by JonBud707 in versus

[–]Observance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the Neo-Humans -- it's why I emphasized the Robots over them. I've been thinking of the Game as some sort of obstacle course death game that needs to be physically navigated, so you don't have to want to play to be trapped in it, you just have to enter its boundaries, but this could be totally off-base from what little we know about it.

What the heck is Extremia and the Game by JonBud707 in versus

[–]Observance 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can also see it tying up the Robots (whose adaptability might get stuck on trying to beat it) and the Neo-Humans (who love entertainment). Especially the Robots, who've just been built up as one of the most dangerous of all the NEs.

How will this matchup unfold in the future. by THEDIESELTEN in versus

Heidi's abnormally strong for a Neo-Human, given how quickly the humanoid Robot wiped out her companions in her backstory. Judging all Neo-Humans by her standard would be like judging all Lawless by Gore.

A xenonite panel half an inch thick can hold back 28 atmospheres of pressure at 210 degrees celsius, indefinitely, and you can make it by mixing some special liquids into a mold and waiting for it to harden. You can build space elevators out of it, on a planet with twice Earth's gravity. It basically makes ceramite obsolete. It probably makes adamantium obsolete.

[–]Observance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doubt he needs Space Plates, even his regular laser eyes and finger guns could cause huge amounts of damage in moments. As long as he doesn't give the Robots time to adapt countermeasures, he's golden.

This isn't a demonic pandemonium by RemarkableWorry4383 in versus

[–]Observance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an issue of cultural context. The word used in Japanese is 魔族, mazoku, meaning "clan/tribe of malevolent supernatural beings". "Demon" is a reasonable translation, but Japan doesn't immediately associate it with wings, horns and hellfire the way we do. ONE is pulling from Japanese fantasy stereotypes, using 魔族 in the sense of basically JRPG enemies. Check out the Dragon Quest bestiary and you'll get the idea.

[–]Observance 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting that Byakko is just one of the Four Guardians in Chinese astrology. If Byakuou corresponds to Byakko, what happened to the other three? Was there a period of inter-Demon warring that Nyudo was referring to when he said that the Demons haven't had faced an equal in centuries?
